Christian and I were better than ever. We spent every weekend together when he was in town, and he had taken me shopping all over Europe and promised to show me the world. My life felt like a fairytale and I never wanted it to end and luckily Christian felt the same way.
I put on my coat, grabbed the tray of cookies and met him by the door.
“You look beautiful Eva. As always.”
His eyes sparkled as he looked at me and over two years later I still got butterflies. I smiled at him as I felt my cheeks get warm.
“Thank you. Flattery will get you everywhere!”
“Really?” His eyes glossed over with lust as they slowly crawled over my body. “Because we can be a few minutes late.”
I playfully slapped his arm with my free hand.
“No time for that; I don’t want to be late for this party.”
He gave me a playful frown.
“Rain check?”
I winked at him. “Definitely.”
“Okay, let’s go. One day we’ll be throwing one of these for our kids.”
I stopped in my tracks. It was the first time he had ever mentioned having kids with me. I looked at him with a huge grin on my face.
“Oh really?”
“Yes, really.” He leaned down and gave me a soft peck. “We’re going to have five kids and live happily ever after.”
I raised my eyebrows at him.
“How many kids?”
He locked the door and put his arm around me as we stepped outside, chuckling softly.
“We can talk about that later. We have a lifetime together ahead of us.”
I was on cloud nine and life had never been better.
