His Possession Page 9

“Well have you told him the truth?” Marie cut in. I shook my head. She put her hand on my arm. “Rosa, you’ve got to tell him. Make him understand that you had no choice. You were friends growing up, that has to count for something.”

“Yeah,” I huffed out. “Raze doesn’t think so. Besides, we were never really friends. He just tolerated me because of Johnny.” I thought about my birthday kiss and pushed it to the back of my mind. Obviously it hadn’t meant anything to him.

“Well, Reaper knows the truth.” Her admission surprised me because I was pretty certain that she was the only one that I’d told the whole story to, and I knew that I could trust her not to repeat something I’d told her in confidence. Had the Winged Demons bragged about it then? “Not about why you did it, but he said the club knows that you recanted your story and were trying to help get Raze released.”

“It wasn’t enough.” Raze would still be behind bars if that video hadn’t surfaced. I had been so frustrated at the time, trying to get someone to listen to me and take me seriously, while at the same time trying to stay one step ahead of Evil.

“That’s obvious, since we’re both here,” she smiled. “So, you’re not under lock and key either?”

I couldn’t help the laugh that escaped me, visualizing how I must have looked slipping butt-first out of the window. “I kind of escaped through the window.”

Her eyes grew big. “You’re an escapee?” Then she giggled. “I’ve tried to escape a couple of times. All it got me was rope burn.” She held up her wrists. There were faint marks around them backing up her statement. “And rug burn, but I can’t show you that. Unless you want to see it” Her face lit up.

She was speaking metaphorically because the cabin didn’t have carpet. If anything she would have gotten a splinter. “No thanks.” I shook my head, and then added jokingly, “You’re a slut.”

“And you love me,” Marie said in turn. She got to her feet and headed toward the kitchen. “So when do you have to break back into your cell?” she teased, reaching into a canister on the counter and pulling out a piece of candy. She tossed one to me.

“I have no idea. Raze pops in and then disappears again. Last time he left I made up my mind I wasn’t just going to sit around and watch the hair grow on my legs.” She walked to the door and opened it. “Since you were snoring when I came in you probably didn’t hear the gunfire.”

Marie’s head swung back my way, her eyes growing round. “I thought I was dreaming!” she rushed out. “Do you know what happened?”

“No. I just saw some bikers running into the restaurant. Whatever happened, happened in there.”

“I hope no one was hurt.” She leaned against the doorway frame, looking in the direction of the lake and the restaurant.

She and I both. She looked worried. She must really like Reaper. Marie was a party-girl, always had been. Never one to take life seriously, she worked as little as she could to get by. She loved to laugh, and she liked the boys. In fact, I’d never seen her serious over one yet, and I’d known her a long time. I wondered what made Reaper different. His bad boy persona? That in itself was unusual for her, because I knew Marie didn’t like strong, alpha types. They were too demanding for her peace of mind she always said.

My gaze moved over her profile, searching for something different about her. Marie had always been stunning with her fortyish-style, starlet looks. She was tall, stacked, with porcelain skin and platinum blonde locks. The only blemish on her flawless features was a tiny mole at the corner of her mouth that always seemed to draw your eye there first, and then her cat- green eyes second. She turned heads wherever we went. Even now, in clothes that I assumed were borrowed, as mine had been, she looked beautiful.

I wondered what she was thinking. It wasn’t like Marie to be so reflective. She was more of a fly-by-the-moment kind of girl. Leaning against the doorjamb, arms crossed, she was staring off in the direction of the lake. Then she perked up and stood away from the jamb.

“Oh! Oh!” she said, turning halfway to give me a grin. “Someone’s mad and heading this way.”

“Raze?” She nodded, looked back, and then her cocky smile faded. “And Reaper.” She quickly closed the door. “Damned thing doesn’t even have a lock!” she grumbled low.

Her actions didn’t gel with a woman who was smitten with a man. I frowned. “I thought you liked Reaper.” I stood up, suddenly nervous.

“I do, but I don’t want him to know it.” She winked at me. “I’m making him work for it.”

I rolled my eyes, and then there was nothing I could do but wait for the inevitable. When it came we both jumped. There was no knock or call for admittance, just a single serious kick to the door, which sent it flying open and slamming loudly against the wall. Raze and Reaper entered the cabin and halted just inside the door. The room seemed suddenly smaller with the two huge bikers inside. I lost all thought of Marie and Reaper when Raze’s narrowed gaze zeroed in on me.

I decided to take the ‘I did nothing wrong’ approach. Because really, I’d done nothing wrong.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” he snarled.

“Visiting Marie,” I replied in a cocky tone. He must have figured that I’d gone out through a window because he didn’t ask.

  “Let’s go.”

I didn’t like his bossy tone. “No.” I crossed my arms. “I’m visiting my friend.”

“You might want to reconsider that,” Reaper said, drawing my gaze to his. “Unless you want to stick around and watch me fuck her.”

“Huh! You can try!” Marie huffed.

“Oh, I’ll do more than try, baby.” He moved toward her. Marie turned and ran into what I assumed was a bedroom. The next thing I heard was a squeal.

I glared at Raze, trying like hell not to think about the hot and heavy sex we’d had earlier. It was no use, though. Even now my traitorous body was responding in ways that, were he to test me, would immediately become obvious.

“Let’s go,” he repeated in a quiet tone.

The way I looked at it I could go quietly, with my dignity in tack, or make it difficult for him, which could turn out badly for me. I couldn’t hope to fight Raze and win. Still, part of me wanted to piss him off just a little. What decided it for me, though, were the moans I heard coming from the bedroom. Without being too obvious about wanting to get out of there as soon as possible, I forced myself to walk toward him unhurriedly.

Fully prepared to continue past him without speaking, I found my arm being grabbed. “This isn’t a vacation, Rosa. You’re not meant to come and go at will. You won’t leave the cabin again.”

I yanked my arm away. “So it’s really meant to be my prison? For how long, Raze? Three years?” I saw something flash in his eyes, regret maybe? I doubted it, but something was there, something he wasn’t comfortable with. “Do you really hate me that much?”

He opened his mouth, and then snapped it shut again. This time when he took my arm I let him pull me behind him. I had to practically run to keep up with his long strides as we made our way back to what I now thought of as prison. The door was already unlocked. He pushed it open and didn’t release me until we were both inside and the door was shut.

  “Can you cook?”

What? That was the last thing I’d expected him to ask. “Did you forget the few times you ate with Johnny and me at our house? I did most of the cooking.” Mom had always been working.

The tiniest quirk of his lips told me that he was fighting a smile. I couldn’t believe it! I was totally mesmerized by the transformation that miniscule change gave him. “That was not cooking.” He crossed his arms.

Realizing that I was staring at his sexy mouth, I forced my gaze up to his. “You didn’t seem to mind,” I reminded him, thinking of all the times that he’d sat at our small kitchen table.

“That’s because I didn’t know any better,” he was quick to respond. “Think you can cook us up something edible while I shower?”

Gee, I don’t know. Do you have any cans I can open?”

His only response was a grunt as he spun on his heel and walked away. I watched him for a minute, wondering what the hell was happening. We were playing house, now?

I decided that the best thing I could do was to just go with the flow.

  Chapter 14

  Raze

I braced myself against the tile wall and let the hot water beat down my backside. What the fuck was I doing asking Rosa to cook for us? Sure, I’d stocked the kitchen so that she could fix her own meals, but I hadn’t planned to eat with her. I was content to eat my meals at the restaurant like everyone else, or I could go home, but that would mean cooking for myself. I had screwed up asking her to cook, because it changed our situation.

I didn’t want her to think that I was getting soft with her.

  That I’d forgiven her.

I thought about Reaper’s plan. I’d shot it down and it had taken me a fucking long time to convince my brothers to do things my way. I knew that they wanted retribution against Rosa for her part in taking me away from my club, but using her to trap the Winged Demons wouldn’t even come close to satisfying me for her betrayal. And I was the one that mattered. The deed had been done to me, and then the club. I needed her with me, so I could control everything that happened to her.

Besides, I didn’t want to place her in that kind of danger.

Jesus, I was getting hard. That’s what being in control of her did to me, knowing that I could sink my dick inside her wet cunt anytime I wanted. She’d been so accessible, so responsive when we’d fucked, giving everything in return. I thought about how tight her body had hugged my cock, how soft the cheeks of her ass had felt, how they bounced every time I pounded into her. I took hold of my dick and began to run my hand up and down. I was so fucking hard, you’d have thought I hadn’t had an explosive orgasm hours before.

Groaning, I closed my eyes, and for just a moment enjoyed the urgent need coursing through my body. I wanted to come, but I didn’t want to waste my load on the shower floor. Not when I had a beautiful woman in the other room. I’d wanted a girl once, and had walked away, afraid of hurting her. Now she was a woman I could lose myself in if I wasn’t careful. I would have to steel myself against that, especially when I was losing myself in her sweet body.

I turned off the water, ripped back the curtain, and reached for a towel. A pleasant aroma reached my nose and I smiled, wondering what Rosa had come up with for dinner. I knew my barb about her cooking had hit home. Either she was going to go out of her way to make something especially mouth-watering, or she was going to purposely ruin it just to make her own point. There would be no in between.

I yanked on a pair of clean jeans and walked out to the kitchen barefoot, bare-chested and still dripping water from my hair. The closer I got to the kitchen, the more my mouth began to water. Whatever she was cooking, it was already attacking my taste buds. Rosa was at the tiny stove, her back to me, and I took advantage of scoping out her sexy backside. My dick twitched, still semi-hard from the shower. Someday I was going to claim that ass. I must have made a sound, because she turned around.

Her gaze immediately dropped to the front of my pants, where my jeans were still open. I purposely made my dick jerk, nearly laughing at her shocked gasp when her eyes darted up to meet mine. A tinge of red colored her cheeks, and damn, when her mouth parted and her tongue came out to run across her lips, I wanted to grab her and plant a long, wet kiss on her. I knew if I did that there’d be no stopping until I’d taken everything from her.

  And dinner would be ruined.

“Smells good.” I tried to look around her, but she did her best to block my view. “You do know I can move you without any effort,” I threatened.

  “Don’t you like surprises?”

  “Not really.”

“Well, too bad. Grab a beer and go sit down.”

I just stared at her for a long minute, deciding whether or not I was going to let her get away with bossing me around.

“Please,” she added when I hesitated.

I shrugged, went to the fridge, grabbed that beer and then sank down onto the sofa. Ten minutes later Rosa came over with two plates, handing me one before she sat down next to me. I studied the contents on my plate. Rice, shrimp, mushrooms, onion, garlic and broccoli, all mixed together with soy sauce. It looked and smelled great. I took a huge forkful, meeting the quiet look in Rosa’s eyes as I chewed.

  “Well?” she asked impatiently.

I wasn’t a fan of broccoli, but had to admit that the dish was really tasty. “Relax, it’s good.”

“So, no solitary confinement for me tonight?”

I frowned because she was serious. “Rosa−” I began in a warning tone, not sure of what I was going to say.

She shrugged, taking a small bite of her own food. “You can’t blame me, Raze. I don’t know what to expect from you. All I know for certain is that you hate me.”

I didn’t really hate her, but I didn’t want to correct her either. That would give her too much power over me and that shit wasn’t happening. I continued to eat, hoping that she’d let it drop. When I realized that she was going to continue to just sit there staring at me with those big, luminous eyes, I released a deep breath and put my plate down.

“What do you want me to say?” She shook her head sharply, biting her bottom lip, which was quivering. Fuck, was she going to cry?

“I guess, I guess I just want to know what your plans are for me.”

“What does it matter? You’ve admitted that you deserve this.”

“I can’t stand not knowing, Raze. I’m not going anywhere, you don’t have to lock me in.” She paused, taking a breath. “If you’re going to hurt me just do it and let it be over.”

“Maybe not knowing is your punishment.” I watched her eyes grow large. “Taking away your freedom was never the plan, Rosa. Prison was nothing. When I was locked up I knew what to expect every fucking day. It was your deceit that cut me the most.”

“I’m so sorry, Raze.” She put a hand on my arm. “You have to believe me that at the time I didn’t have any other choice.”

I clenched my jaw. I didn’t like where the conversation was going. One day I might listen to her story, but I wasn’t ready to forgive her yet. It wouldn’t change how I felt, and in my mind nothing could justify what she’d done. Reaper had let me know that she’d changed her story while I was locked up, had worked at getting me released, but it hadn’t been enough. No, I wasn’t going to make it easy for her. I moved until her hand slipped away.

“Do yourself a favor, baby.” I purposely hardened my tone. “Don’t try to sway me with those big, soulful eyes and that soft, little-girl tone.” I stood and looked down at her. “If you want to get on my good side just spread those pretty legs.” She blushed, and I knew she was thinking about earlier. So was my dick.

“I don’t remember you being this crude.”

I snorted. She may as well get used to it, because it was the only way I knew. Years of being in a fucked-up home, then dealing with the harsh reality of war only to come home and join another had taken what little youth and innocence I’d had left and obliterated it. You didn’t survive by being soft. Rosa thought I was crude? That was a nice word in my club.

“Are you leaving again?” she asked as I walked away.

I set my plate down next to the sink. I’d been contemplating going back to the restaurant for a few drinks, but the truth was that I wasn’t in the mood tonight. Drinking usually led to smoking weed and CC grinding on my dick. It was getting late, and the thought of just chilling and watching the fights on TV seemed more appealing.

“You feel like watching a movie?” Fuck, where had that come from?

I thought at first that she hadn’t heard me, but when I turned to her I realized that she had. The soft look on her face and her trembling smile kept me from taking it back. She was so fucking beautiful. I was getting hard just from the look of pleas
ure gleaming in her eyes.

“That would be nice,” she finally said, rising to her feet. She set her plate on top of mine. “Should I clean up first?”

“Yeah.” I moved around her. “I’ll see what’s on.”

Jesus, what the fuck was I doing? I felt as if I were outside of my body watching someone else. I was uncomfortable with the way the evening was going. It felt too fucking domestic for me, too damned normal. I didn’t do normal. When was the last time I’d watched a movie that wasn’t porn? I grinned inwardly, picturing her indignation if I slipped in a nasty CD and she realized what I meant by movie.

I turned on the TV, listening to Rosa’s movements in the kitchen. It wasn’t too late to change my mind. I could find a movie for her and then go have those drinks. My brothers were expecting me. We were making a hundred mile run to Saranac Lake in the morning. The Winged Demons had to know we weren’t going to let their attack on our club go without acknowledgement. I was all for hitting them where it fucking hurt.
