Granite Kiss Page 11

An hour later Zander stood in the hallway holding a pillowcase in each hand. Halloween had become his favorite time of the year. It marked an anniversary for him and his beautiful Elena. Five years earlier they’d met, and the following year they’d wed. A month after they were married, they welcomed their twins into their lives.

Every day, Zander stopped at least once to thank the gods for the many blessings in his life. The love of his wife, his children, and the five friends he had lived centuries through hell with.

The six men had grown even closer since the morning in the dilapidated barn a few years earlier. They had come a very long way. Each had met the love of their lives, and enjoyed a life none of them ever thought they would. There were children aplenty among the extended family, and this Halloween would be the first for Adan and his wife’s eight-month-old boys.

Life just didn’t get any better.

“Come on, you guys,” he called up the hall. “Your cousins, uncles and grandfathers are waiting. You’re going to make us miss out on all the fun if you don’t hurry.”

Giggling from Julie’s bedroom brought a smile to Zander’s lips.

“Hold your hamsters, Daddy,” his daughter called out.

A moment later, his kids came through the door, growling, or at least giving it their best effort, and when they stood before him showing off their costumes, Zander couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

“You’re not ’posed to laugh, Daddy,” Julie said, and placed her little fists on her hips, showing her displeasure as his outburst.

Zander mustered as much sincerity as he could, considering the expression on his daughter’s adorable face. “My deepest apologies, milady,” he said, with a bow.

“Yeah, Dad. Me and Julie are ferocious beasties, don’t you know,” Z.J. added with a mischievous grin.

His beautiful wife certainly had a sense of humor, and Zander loved her more with every breath he drew.

Grinning ear to ear, awaiting his praise, stood his son and daughter, dressed up as...gargoyles.

After reading a number of erotic romances I got the bright idea it might be fun to write one. Seems I possess a talent to tell a lascivious tale–my English Profs are stunned. Regardless of the steamy sexy stories I create, for me it’s all about true love and happily-ever-after, or a reasonable facsimile–the guy must get the girl in the end.

On those rare occasions when I manage to find some spare time, I read. When not sweating over the laptop tapping to keep up with my over-active imagination, I squeeze in running, cycling, trips to the gym and occasionally shoot pool. Above everything else, I cherish time spent with my family and friends.

Currently I make my home in a small city in South-western Ontario and just enjoy life.

A simple girl with simple indulgences, that’s me. I listen to rock music, enjoy expensive cognac and oh, I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like!
