Aunt Oot: Hob Banderel’s aunt who sang of food in the kitchen.

Aurion: a Man of Pellar. High King of Mithgar. Slain during the Battle of Challerain Keep. Known as Aurion Redeye because of a scarlet eye patch worn over an eye blinded in combat against the Rovers of Kistan when he was a young Man. Also known as King Redeye, and as Redeye.

(the) Avagon Sea: a sea bordering upon the southern flanks of Garia, Pellar, Jugo, Ho
ven, Tugal, and Vancha; on the western flanks of Alban, Hurn, and Sarain; and on the northern flanks of Chabba, Karoo, and Hyree. The great island of Kistan is in the western Avagon Sea.
Aven: a Realm of Mithgar. Bounded on the north by the Grimwall and on the south by North Riamon.
Axe-thrower: the name given to Brega by Gildor to note that Brega threw his axe to strike the Gargon in the forehead.

Baeron: (singular: Baeran): a branch of Men of great strength living in the northern vales of the River Argon and in the forest of Darda Erynian. The Baeron fought with the Alliance against Modru’s Hordes during the Winter War. Some are said to be shapeshifters.
Bale: an Elven blade forged in the House of Aurinor in the Land of Duellin for use in the Great War. Bale, a sword, is one of several Lian sharp-edged weapons equipped with a blade-jewel that shines with a werelight when Evil is near (Bale’s light is red). Bale was borne by Gildor during the Winter War. Also known as Red Bale.
ballista: a catapult shaped like a great crossbow and used for casting spears and rocks and other missiles.
(the) Ban: Adon’s banishment of all the creatures of the Untargarda from the light of Mithgar’s Sun as punishment for aiding Gyphon during the Great War. For any who defy the Ban, daylight strikes them dead: their bodies shrivel into dry husks and blow away like dust; this is called the Withering Death. Some creatures of Mithgar, such as some Dragons, also suffer the Ban—but in the case of Dragons, although they die, they do not suffer the Withering Death. Also known as Adon’s Covenant, the Covenant, the Eternal Ban, High Adon’s Ban.
