Fortunes Page 5

by Tina Gallagher

  “They’re mine.”

My heart skipped a beat then started to pound. Madame V’s words echoed through my head. Your one true love is a doctor, a healer. He is strong and tall and has golden hair and soulful, brown eyes. His name begins with a W, and he’ll love you with all his heart until the end of time.

  “Your name is William?”

  He nodded.

  “I assumed it was Charles.”

“Most people do.” He stood and walked over to his desk and retrieved a picture. “When I was eight, I fell off my bike and slammed my mouth against the ground. I was okay, but my front tooth chipped. My brother started calling me Chippy and it stuck. While I couldn’t totally get away from the name, it was shortened to Chip in high school.” He handed me the picture.

I smiled at the image in the frame. Chip mugged for the camera, showing off his chipped front tooth. I traced the pad of my finger over his grinning face. “She was right,” I whispered.

  “Who was right?”

  “Madame V.”

  “Who?”

I explained what the palm reader had told me mere hours before I met him.

“So we are destined to be together?”

  “That’s what my fortune said.”

  “Let’s hear it for fortunes.”

He wrapped me in his arms, and my lips curled into a smile. Madame V had said things would work out in the end, and she’d been right. There was no doubt in my mind Chip and I would get married, have children, and grow old together. I melted into his embrace, secure in his love and happier than I’d ever been.

We sealed our commitment by making slow, sensual love, giving thanks for each other and good fortune.

  A word about the author...

Tina Gallagher was raised in Northeast Pennsylvania, and in between softball, basketball, and music lessons, she and her best friend would create their own “happily ever afters” for their favorite soap opera couples. After a while, the soap operas lost their appeal, but the writing never did. She continues to use her imagination to weave stories about heroes and heroines who share deep, lasting relationships.

In addition to her books with The Wild Rose Press, Inc. Tina has two books published with Phaze Books: Prescription for Love and Tupelo Honey.
