Training Command [Hard Hits 16] (Siren Publishing Classic ManLove) Page 8

Waiting was damn near impossible; he heard the sound of his Dom moving around the room but he did not look. Finally, his Dom came back with lube, smearing it over his rim, pushing something deep inside his ass.

It wasn’t long before he realized it was a butt plug. The tip of it was tapered and cool as it pressed against his prostate, nearly sending him over the edge. He controlled the desire bubbling through him as his ass tightened on that butt plug.

Minutes went on and on as his Dom continued to take control of his ass. Finally, gently his Dom pulled the plug from his ass and came back with his hard prick, pushing the tip of his cockhead against his rim as he slowly stretched him with his dick.

His Dom pumped his dick inside as Dusk moaned deeply as they became one. Then he started to fuck him roughly, sending his forehead sliding against the hardwood floors.

It was too much. Dusk knew it wouldn’t be long before he came. A moan of desire whispered from his parted lips as precum dripped from his dick, sliding onto the floor.

Without warning, he stopped. His Dom held his ass. Waiting for him was the hardest thing he had to do. Without moving, his Dom gripped his balls tightly. A cry of pleasure tore from his mouth.

“Come for me for me now, sub.”

Dusk’s cock vibrated in his Dom’s hand as his spunk went flying across the floor. When he was finished coming, he felt his Dom’s dick stiffen, sending white-hot jizz into his ass. It was a long time before either one moved.

His Dom took care of him, taking him to the bed. When they were settled, his Dom pulled him in close. He finally had everything he wanted but could he have it without love? That was what he wasn’t so sure. He wanted someone to love him with everything. He wasn’t sure if his Dom could.

  Chapter Seven

The next day at work wasn’t easy at all. Shane wasn’t sure why but it was difficult getting his head back into the game. Shane didn’t want another run-in with Max. He had a way of stepping into the picture to cause trouble. It didn’t help that the profiler was one of the best in the city.

He shouldn’t have dated anyone he worked with. Was he making a mistake? He hoped his dick wasn’t making another mistake with his submissive now. Max was nowhere to be found as he went looking for him. It was probably just as well that the guy was laying low. He had a habit of stirring up trouble when Shane didn’t want him to.

That morning, his submissive had been mostly in training with SWAT. He was supposed to take his SWAT test here soon. He was almost ready. He was finally back to physical and mental shape. Shane was starting to feel like he was no longer needed and that disturbed him greatly.

He couldn’t help but see the disappointment in his lover’s eyes when he realized he didn’t say I love you back. He should have said the words. He just couldn’t bring himself to. He’d never said the words to any lover before.

“You look like you have a lot on your mind.”

At the sound of the Chief’s words, he glanced over his shoulder. “Yeah. It looks like I do.”

“You going to tell me what’s going on?”

“I was hoping that I would figure this one out on my own.”

The Chief nodded. “I’m guessing it has something to do with him.”

  “Yeah, it does.”

  “You look distracted.”

“I am. I can’t keep him safe anymore, can I?”

“You had his six. It was your job to get him back on his feet. You did. You should be proud of yourself.”

He wasn’t proud of himself at all. He had made him into a better man than he was before. That had him worried that he was going to leave him.

“What else is on your mind?”

  “I can’t say.”

They had been friends for a long time and both knew what was going on but neither one would say it.

“I find that in times like this it’s best to just go with your heart.”

“I don’t think that’s the best idea for either one of us.”

“You always were a stubborn man. You might want to play this one fast or you just might lose them.”

Just as he said that, Max strutted into the hallway, heading down toward the bullpen. He was confident and cocky. There was something about him that put Shane on notice. He was hunting, and he was on the look for someone. He didn’t like that at all.

“When does this case with Max wrap up?”

“Not soon enough. The spotlight’s been on the district for way too long. You should know that he’s going to be training with SWAT soon.”

That was the last thing he wanted. He wasn’t going to tell his chief that though. “And what about Dusk?”

“It’s probably time you move out. He seems like he’s doing okay by himself?”

  “Yeah.”

“Then I think it’s time to let go and see what happens.”

It was the last thing Shane wanted to do but his Chief was right. He couldn’t keep pressing this issue without knowing how he felt. He had to make sure he truly wanted him if they were going to keep this thing alive between them.

Shane headed down toward the Training Center. He wanted to find out how his submissive was doing in training. Shane wanted to make sure he was going to be okay even if he walked away.

At the training center, he caught sight of TJ working with Dusk one-on-one. He looked sure and confident in his moves. It wouldn’t be long before he was heading out on call with them.

As if sensing he was being watched, Dusk glanced through the windows, catching sight of him. Temptation had Shane lingering for just a little bit longer but he knew he shouldn’t. Just as he was about to turn and go, Max stepping up behind him.

“You have a way of moving so that no one hears you.”

Max smiled. “It was one of the things you loved about me.”

Shane gave him a hard stare. “He’s off-limits. He’s mine.”

“I realize that now. I’d rather we both be friends.”

“Why don’t I like the sound of that?”

“Oh, you know how much you still love me and how much I mean to you. It doesn’t have to be.”

Shane stepped in close. “Yes, it does. I fly solo with one man.”

“Pity. I was hoping we could work something out between us.”

“Look, you’re a great guy. You really are. I know there’s somebody out there for you. It just can’t be me.”

Something clouded with in his eyes before he looked away. “I know. That’s what makes walking away from you so hard.”

Shane never realized how deep his submissive’s feelings went for him. The fact that he still carried a torch for him greatly disturbed him. Max gave him a withering smile and stepped in close.

“Look, I like him more than I want to get back with you.”

  “Ouch. That hurt.”

Shane watched him head down the corridor. Max needed to get his shit together. They just couldn’t be together. With that, Shane looked through the glass one more time at his sub. He headed downstairs to the K9 unit. He was picking up Colt today as a surprise. His submissive was getting back to his life. He couldn’t wait to surprise him later with Colt.

  * * * *

Dusk wanted everything to be okay between them but he knew it was going to take time. As he headed out for the day, he didn’t bother to wait for Shane. He needed time alone to think and to clear his mind. Now that he was back on-duty full-time, he really didn’t need anyone holding his hand any longer. Dusk drove the city streets home without thinking.

As he pulled up in front of this house, he realized that Shane beat him home. Shock moved through his system when he saw the back of his trunk open with boxes inside. It was as though he were moving out.

Still, he had to know for sure. He headed inside, immediately greeted by Colt who was excited to see him. “Hey, bud. How are you?”

Dusk got down on his haunches and scratched behind Colt’s ears. He looked up as he saw Shane coming down the stairs with his bags packed. “So, you’re
leaving?”

“Just moving out now. You don’t need me looking over your shoulder twenty-four hours any longer.”

“I kind of like having you around.”

“I know you do but it’s time for you to decide what you really want.”

Dusk didn’t want his Dom to go but he didn’t know how to make him stay. It’d been a really long time since he’d been alone. He kind of welcomed the idea of having nobody around for just a little bit so he could clear his head.

  “Will I see you again?”

“Of course, babe. If that’s what you want, we’ll keep this thing going between us.”

“I’m not sure that’s such a good idea.”

Dusk couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth but he knew he couldn’t be with a man who didn’t love him. He wanted this man in with his whole heart and nothing less. He wanted his love and adoration. He had to have it if they were going to move forward.

“Is this what you really want?” Shane asked.

“I think it is. I need somebody who will love me completely and you’re obviously not the man who will do that.”

Shane looked as though he was about to say something but instead he headed out the front door, taking his bags with them and loading up the car. Dusk wanted to beg and make Shane stay but he couldn’t. He had to give his Dom space and give himself the space he needed to clear his head.

He wouldn’t beg a man who did not love him to stay. He wouldn’t do that. Instead he was going to enjoy the evening alone—at least he hoped he would. Dusk looked down at Colt, who started to whimper. He headed toward the back door and let him outside to run.

Just as he did, he heard the sound of Shane’s car starting up. He got to the front windows in time to see him drive away. Fat hot tears clouded his vision as he watched him go. He couldn’t believe he was crying over a man who wouldn’t tell him that he loved him. How stupid could he be?

  Chapter Eight

When Shane got to work the next morning, he shouldn’t have been surprised that his office was partially cleared out. Dusk moved out of his office. It shouldn’t have bothered him but it really did. He wanted him in here with him, forcing him to look at him as they went through their business.

It was probably for the best that they weren’t in the same office anymore. He didn’t want the temptation of crossing the line when he knew he shouldn’t.

With that thought in mind, Shane went to roll call, making sure to scan the room for Dusk. Relief moved through his shoulders when he saw him sitting in the back of the room with his K9 partner. They looked good together.

A million emotions ran through his system as he sat down, taking pleasure in the way Dusk watched him move. Max sat down next to him, a move that didn’t go unnoticed by Dusk and for once he welcomed the pleasure of Max’s company.

Max leaned in close and whispered into his ear, “I think you make him jealous.”

  “Do I?”

  “You do.”

Max shot Dusk a look before he turned toward Shane and leaned in close, whispering something only he could hear. “I can make him want you again, if you want.”

“Oh, yeah? How are you going to do that?”

“Give me a few minutes, that’s all it’s going to take.”

Shane looked across the room. He could see that Dusk was definitely getting jealous. He didn’t like the idea of his submissive getting angry. Shane needed someone to break the tension that was waving through the room.

Shane needed Dusk to focus on work and not focus on him. When rollcall finished up, the room cleared out with everyone going to their duties.

It wasn’t long before SWAT was called out into the field and TJ came in to talk to Dusk. Shane didn’t like the idea of Dusk going out on this first ride, but he knew it was bound to happen.

SWAT rolled up in a little suburb just outside of Cincinnati on the west side of town. Tension radiated through Shane’s shoulders as the standoff got under way. TJ started with negotiations.

Shane was ready to move as he was part of the entrance team with Dusk at his side. Colt was antsy and ready to go. He shouldn’t have been worrying about Dusk but he was. He didn’t like the idea of Dusk getting hurt again, ever.

He always took extra steps to be cautious, but when it came to his submissive and to the man he loved, he wanted everything for him to be okay.

Loved. He loved Dusk. It was an overpowering chant within his head but he couldn’t get himself to say those three damn words.

Shane never understood what it was. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that his parents smothered him with love that he no longer could say the words out loud. It had become too common and too easy and too meaningless.

Just as they started to make entrance into the house, shots ring out. Shane’s blood went cold when he heard Colt yelp and go down. Panic went through the team as they made entrance. Several rounds were fired.

As Colt went down, Shane glanced toward Dusk, who was had blood on his arms. Shane slid to his knees. “Are you okay?” His glazed eyes looked up at him. “No, not again.”

  “I’m okay. It’s Colt’s blood. It’s his leg.”

Shane inspected the wound. “It looks like a serious graze.”

As everyone inside took care of business, Shane helped Dusk take care of Colt. He wrapped his leg, giving him a shot of pain medicine before he was rushed off to the vet. Shane stayed with Dusk at the veterinarian’s office as they waited for news on his K9 partner.

“You don’t need to stay,” Dusk said.

  “I’m not going anywhere.”

With that, Shane caught sight of blood on the inside of Dusk’s arm. He came in close to Dusk. “I thought you said you were okay.”

  “It’s just a scratch.”

“Bullshit it is. You were grazed with a bullet. It needs to be cleaned.”

  “I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not. If you can’t see that you need to take care of yourself who else is going to?”

Their eyes locked. “Just tell me after all this. Just tell me what how you feel.” There was a long pause. “See, you can’t. That’s all I want. I just want you to tell me and you can’t even do it.”

Shane gritted his teeth. “I love you. I love you too damn much. It hurts to know that I can’t keep you safe in the field.”

  “I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not. How can I protect you?”

  “You can’t.”

Frustrated as he turned away, running his hand through his hair. Shane came in fast and hard, kissing his submissive before he lost his nerve. “I love you too damn much to let you go like this. I’m going to make sure nothing ever happens to you again.”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”

“Just shut up and kiss me.”

  * * * *

Before Dusk knew what was happening, Shane called SWAT Doc Woods to tend to his arm. “You should probably go to the hospital.”

“I’d rather not. I’ve had enough of those to last a lifetime.”

“That’s what I thought you would say. I understand.”

As Dusk leaned up against the back of the cruiser, he couldn’t help but hope that everything would be okay with his K9 partner. A few minutes later, Shane came out of the veterinarian’s office with a smile on his face.

“He’s going to be okay. It was just a flesh wound. He needed his leg bandaged. He said you jumping in front of him is what saved his life.”

Relief moved Dusk when he realized his K9 partner was going to be okay. He looked at Shane, wanting to tell him everything he felt inside but couldn’t. Now was not the time or the moment they had shared in the veterinarian’s waiting area. It was a little too deep for him to handle.

Did Shane really mean what he said? Did he really love him? Dusk wasn’t so sure about that right now and was too afraid to ask. He was hurting and it had a lot to do with the fact that he could have been injured. He didn’t want anyone to pity him a
nd hated the fact that this man did.

  “There you go.”

  “Thanks.”

SWAT Doc Woods zipped up his red bag and headed for his car.

“You should probably let TJ know you were injured. I know he’s going to find out anyway from Parker.”

  “Yeah, probably.”

As Dusk leaned against the cruiser, he thought about what he wanted out of life and needed. It was everything with this man standing in front of him. He wanted him to take the lead and tell him those words but they were not coming.

“I better get back to the station.”

  “I’ll drive you back.”

As Shane sat behind the wheel, Dusk couldn’t help but think about that night so long ago that shattered both of their lives. And it always seemed to linger in those tense moments. He wanted to tell his Dom that he was over it and he could move on and forget.

There were times like this when he thought way too long and hard about it. As they pulled up in front of the station, Dusk became very aware of the fact that Shane was watching him closely.

  “What?” Dusk asked.

“Do you need me to spell it out for you?”

  “Spell what out for me?”

“I love you. I want you to be mine and come home with me every night. I want to be there when you wake up in the morning and when you go to sleep at night. I want to be your everything.”

As the truth spilled from his lips, Dusk felt a sense of longing flow through his heart. “Are you asking me?”

  “Yes, I am.”

  “So, what do you say?”

“Yes. I love you. I love you so much and love everything about you.”

Dusk slipped into his Dom’s arms, kissing him passionately, loving the feel of this tongue thrusting inside. Everything around him faded away as the kiss deepened.

  Chapter Nine

For the first time in Shane’s life he truly knew what love was. Love was waking up every morning with the man he loved. Love was making him breakfast in bed. Love was washing his back when he was in the shower with him. Love was cooking him dinner. Love was even when he took out the garbage.
