As usual, Garret started to pace as he spoke. “You all asked that I hire help, and I think you’ll find that Moore’s Image Consulting is exactly what we’re looking for. She has a reputation for anticipating and tackling problems head on. She’s here to make sure that the press focus on the current actions of the brothers rather than their past reputations. As she works with them individually, I’ll be targeting the brother’s reputation as a unit. Presenting a strong bond will be the key that we need to suppress whatever Wiltshire is cooking up.”
The board members nodded their heads, and Garret felt some of his anxiety ease. He introduced Lisa and opened her up to questions. Most of the men could barely take their eyes off her, but she replied with poise and ease. The brothers behaved themselves and pretended that they were all eager for this opportunity to work together, and by the time the meeting concluded, Garret felt like maybe they could make this work.
The room started to empty, and as Janet walked by him, she reached out and grabbed his arm. Crooking her finger, she gave him a sly smile as he bent down. “You’re right,” she whispered. “I do like her. I especially like the way that you’re looking at her. I suggest that you bend her over while you have the chance.”
“Mrs. Mayfield!” he groaned. “That is not going to happen. We need to focus. We will not be mixing business with pleasure.”
“Then you’re a bigger idiot than I thought. I’ve watched Roger Parker manipulate you just like he does his sons, but this isn’t your company. Don’t let it become more important than your love life.”
Garret was about the point out that his love life and his sex life were hardly the same thing, but she was already hobbling away.
