Hawk tossed his phone on the bed and yanked the towel from around his waist, drying his hair and grabbing his clothes. He had to call Gordon Jones and Jack Perry—it seemed as though the two men had been avoiding discussing the actual construction, and he needed to hear how things were going—especially with the accounts.
It was difficult enough to be relaying the information to his brothers from his own point of view, but it was even more difficult when he had to do so without having any real knowledge of what was going on. Of course, once again neither of the men answered their phones, but instead of leaving a voicemail for them to ignore, Hawk called a taxi. They could run from him and avoid him all they wanted, but they couldn’t hide the hotel.
He would go right down to the site and see for himself how things were going, and if Jack Perry was around, he would ask him then and there for a report of the accounts. One way or another, he was going to get his hands on that paperwork, and he was going to prove to his brothers that he could handle the tasks they had given him.
He was a Parker, after all.

“Mr. Perry, if you have a moment? I apologize for not calling in advance. Oh, wait, I did.” Hawk walked over to Jack on the site, and he could see all the color drain at once from the man’s face. He looked in complete shock at Hawk, then he grabbed his phone, pretending like it wasn’t working.
“I can’t believe I missed your call! I would have told you on the phone if I had gotten it. You really didn’t have to come all the way down here,” he said nervously. Hawk stared him down with a cold glare, then looked around the site.
“Looks like things are coming along down here, but what I really need to see is the reports for both the account and the progress. I was supposed to get those the other day and I never did.” He maintained his cold and distant approach, and once again Jack laughed nervously. It was clear he would much rather not be talking about this topic with Hawk, but he wasn’t going to let him off the hook.
“I don’t have the power to give those to you,” he said with a forced look of concern. Hawk had seen such a look more than once in his life, and he didn’t believe it for one second.
“Well, get a hold of the person who does, since Gordon’s phone is evidently also not working.” Hawk crossed his arms and gave Jack a defiant look. Jack squirmed and pulled out his phone.
“Here, let me give you the extension to the office. If he’s not answering his cell, you might have a better chance of getting a hold of him if you go straight to the top.” Jack gave him a dismissive look, and it was clear he didn’t want to discuss the situation any further. He turned to go, and Hawk sighed in frustration. He knew he wasn’t going to get anywhere further with the man, but that didn’t solve his problem with his brothers.
They expected him to have an update for them that day, but he was just being given the runaround time after time. Jack didn’t wait for him to say anything else and turned his attention to what was happening with a bulldozer. Hawk punched in the number Jack had given him and held his phone to his ear, irritated that he once again had to look elsewhere to get his job done.
“I’m sorry, but Gordon isn’t in his office right now. You can leave a message and I will give it to him as soon as he gets back in,” the receptionist said. Hawk kept his voice calm, though he couldn’t mask the condescension that shone through.
“Do you happen to know when that will be?”
“I’m sorry, sir, but I do not. He doesn’t tell me his agenda when he goes out, but I can get him a message when he gets back.” Her tone was sweet, but Hawk could sense she was being just as condescending back to him as he was being to her.
“Never mind, I’ll get back to him when I can,” he growled. He hung up without waiting for her to answer and swore under his breath. “Fuck.”
Pulling out his phone, Hawk scanned through his texts. Now that his afternoon was free, he could grab lunch with Kathryn—but did he want to? He had agreed to keep an eye on her, and Cole seemed to think that the only way to know what the woman wanted was to spend time with her—but it was a dangerous game.
“What the hell.” He sent her a message asking if she still wanted to get together and slipped his phone into his pocket, heading out of the construction site to the taxi he had told to wait for him on the street. He checked the phone after he got inside and was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t any message from Kathryn. With her attitude, it was difficult to know what she was up to—for all he knew she could be going on a shopping spree downtown, or she might be passed out in her hotel room.
She had changed in many ways since the two of them had gotten out of college, but there were other ways in which she was exactly the same. She was just as likely to spend three hours in the gym as she was to drink three martinis next to the pool—it just depended on how she was feeling on that day.
If he was to be perfectly honest with himself, it was one of the things he liked about her. When there was still no reply, however, he told the cab driver to take him back to the hotel. He might as well waste some time himself while he decided how he was going to handle Jones and Perry. And wasting time was best done with a drink in hand.
Hawk paid the cab driver well when he got out at the hotel, and the man sped off, leaving him alone. He turned and walked quickly inside, but he couldn’t resist glancing over toward the pool. Just passing through the lobby of the hotel as often as he had, he had seen his fair share of hot women, and he hoped to see a few of them basking in their bikinis next to the water.
But what he saw this time caused him to stop dead in his tracks.
There was Kathryn, stripped down to a scorching hot red bikini, clearly flirting heavily with a man beside the pool. To make matters worse, the man in question was muscular and toned, his abs and muscular chest perfectly defined. At that moment, Hawk didn’t know what came over him.
He didn’t know what Kathryn thought she was doing, but it wasn’t going to be that guy. He would make sure of that.
Chapter Ten
Kathryn
“No, I promise, they are entirely natural, as is my hair,” Kathryn giggled as she sipped on her drink, tossing her waves over her shoulders and allowing her chest to bounce accordingly. Although the man in the pool was a big enough gentleman not to openly stare at her breasts, she could see that he was watching them with great satisfaction as they moved about in her skimpy bikini.
Of course, she was doing her part to make sure they did—and she was sitting in such a way that he would have no option but to stare at them in all their fullness.
“Do you have to work out a lot to look like that?” she asked as she boldly put her hand on his chest. He looked down at her touching him and smiled, flexing his chest and puffing himself up for her.
“Not as often as you would think, I would guess. Most people seem to think that I am quite the gym rat, but I can tell you that I am really only there a few times a week.” He was making a show of his physique as he spoke, and she ate up the attention. She knew how to play on a man’s ego, and she was doing that very thing. It didn’t matter to Kathryn what happened to them after she got home; she wanted to cut loose and live a wild few days in Las Vegas. After Hawk had turned down her invitation to lunch that morning, she’d made the decision to move on.
She wasn’t going to sit around and wait for him to validate her existence—she had given him more than one opportunity to spend time with her, in more ways than one—and he had turned her down both times. After she had texted him that morning, she had done her makeup and put on one of her favorite outfits, certain he was going to jump at the opportunity for lunch. But when she saw that he was opting to work rather than go out with her, she’d decided she was finished.
She wasn’t going to sit there in her room and hope to catch him going into his. Sure, she had come down here with the intention of seeing him, but they had done that, and it was time to move on. Kathryn had only had the chance to talk to Dana once since arriving in Vegas, a
nd she’d encouraged her to just go out and have fun.
“You’re only going to be down there for a short while, so why not live it up as much as possible?” she’d asked.
Kathryn sighed. She didn’t want to complain about the fact that Hawk wasn’t paying her any attention, but that was how she felt. But she also knew that her friend was right. She had come down there to have fun, so what was she doing waiting around for some ex she had had a fling with years before? It was crazy, and she was going to get out and do something about it.
So, after she had gotten off the phone with Dana, she’d slipped out of the outfit she had chosen for the day and had instead picked up the red bikini she had packed. It wasn’t much of a swimsuit, but it was enough for her. It hugged her in all the right places, left nearly nothing to the imagination, and was enough to make any man in the building turn his head and fantasize over her curves.
She didn’t care that the other women in the pool room were jealous and giving her looks, she was going to feel good about herself, and if she wanted to do that by wearing nothing, she would. It wasn’t long after she entered the room that she was approached by the chiseled and horny man, and she was eating up the attention like it was candy.
Suddenly, however, she jumped nearly out of her skin when the door opened and Hawk came bursting into the room, walking straight to the pool. He ignored the signs telling him to remove his shoes around the pool; he ignored the cries of the lifeguard; and he ignored the threats of security as he walked straight over to her, looking furious.
“What the fuck are you doing?” he fairly shouted. The entire pool turned and looked at them, but it was the man in the pool who answered.
“Hey, buddy, you have a problem?” he asked.
“Yeah, I have a huge problem. You wanna tell me what the fuck you are doing with my woman?” He turned on the man, who started to lift himself out of the pool. Hawk was clearly undeterred by the man, preparing to hit him right back if it were to come to that.
“Hawk! No, it’s not like that!” Kathryn cried, scrambling to her feet. They both turned to her.
“What the fuck, Kathryn? What the fuck!” He shook his head as she stepped between the two men.
“You weren’t paying any attention to me. What did you want me to do? Sit in my room and wait for you to show up?” Kathryn snapped defiantly, and Hawk got a look of shock on his face.
“You asked me if I wanted to go to lunch. I didn’t know you were down here sleazing it up with …” He gestured at the man, who made a threatening gesture in reply, but Kathryn put her hands on Hawk’s chest and tried to turn him around.
“Come on, we can talk about this. Let’s go up to my room,” she said. She was relieved when he reluctantly turned to go with her, and she refused to look around, not wanting to see any of the judgmental glances from anyone else in the room.
When they were in her hotel room, she didn’t have a chance to speak first. Hawk had already turned to her. “What the fuck?” he fairly shouted again.
She crossed her arms. “I’ll tell you what the fuck! I am sick of everything, Hawk. I am sick of everyone else pushing their opinions and options on me. I am sick of my father. I am sick of life. I came down here to have a wild time, and that is what I intend to do.” She looked up at him with raised eyebrows, and he gave her a look of shock.
“Kathryn, if you want to have good sex without any of the strings attached, you know you don’t have to look any further than me,” Hawk said. Kathryn looked up, unsure if he was being serious or not. He took a step forward and pressed his lips to hers, and she felt the agitation in his body. However, she was just as ready for the kiss as he was, and she immediately began kissing him back.
His hands reached around her neck and untied the top of her bikini, letting it fall away and revealing her breasts. He pulled back and looked down at them, cupping them in his hands and burying his face in them.
“Just like I remember,” he breathed. Kathryn closed her eyes and leaned her head back, allowing herself to feel lost in the sensation of his lips over her breasts, his tongue flicking over her nipple, his bites. Then she took control. Pushing him back toward the bed, she climbed on top of him, undoing his jacket and shirt, opening it and revealing a body that was every bit as muscular as the man at the pool.
“I think you’ve improved,” she teased as she dove her face into his neck. She lightly kissed along his jawline, feeling him grow more aroused beneath her. She reached down and undid his pants with her hand, pulling him out and massaging him. Hawk allowed this for a minute, then pushed her off him and onto the bed, climbing on top of her. He yanked her bikini bottom down, kissing her from the neck to her breasts then down her stomach to her pussy.
She closed her eyes as he began licking between her lips and sucking on her clit, sending shock after shock of pleasure through her. She tried to get up off the bed, wanting to take him in her mouth as well, but he grabbed her hands and pinned them above her head to the bed.
“Hawk!” she cried out, her nipples showing how aroused she was. He gave her an intense look, but didn’t let her up. He took himself in his hand and rubbed himself between her legs, causing her to writhe with pleasure and anticipation. Hawk then gave her an evil grin as he suddenly thrust himself deep inside her, causing her to gasp.
It was his turn to close his eyes now, allowing himself to experience the pleasure of being as deep inside her as possible. Kathryn lifted her hips slightly, indulging herself fully in the feeling of Hawk’s full length and the pressure of his pulsing member deep inside her pussy. He then began to thrust, drawing himself slowly out of her first, then thrusting himself as deeply inside her as he could.
He repeated this, bringing her to the very verge of climax. But, at the last minute, he pulled himself out. As she had done with him many times before, Kathryn rolled over on the bed and turned, climbing to her knees and putting her hands on the wall. She had her legs spread, and within seconds, she felt Hawk’s hands reaching around her and fondling both her breasts. He had his face deep in the crook of her neck, and he expertly pushed himself into her from behind. She moaned, doing her best to keep the noise down as much as she could.
Hawk, however, clearly didn’t want her to be quiet. As always, he wanted the neighbors to hear what he was doing to her, and the pleasure she was experiencing from it. His possessiveness had always been something Kathryn found intensely arousing and time had not diminished its appeal one bit. His hand slipped from her breast and down her stomach, and he began rubbing his fingers over her clit once more as he continued to thrust into her from behind. Kathryn felt she was going to burst. She had had her fair share of partners since Hawk, but with him filling her again and again from behind as he rubbed her body and took her to entirely new levels, she couldn’t hold anything back. Nor did she want to.
She screamed with pleasure as she came harder than she had in months. The orgasm continued to last, but he wasn’t finished. He continued to thrust into her quickly and dominantly until all at once she felt him thrust deeply, and a different kind of warm explosion happened deep inside her. He moaned with pleasure as his penis pulsed, and Kathryn felt herself relax slightly.
She leaned back from the wall and looked over her shoulder, kissing him as his hands continued to travel over her body and his thick dick continued to pulse inside her. After a few moments of holding each other, she gently fell to the bed and sighed.
“Wow! Hawk, that was—that was more than I could have asked for,” she breathed. Her knees were shaking and she found it difficult to even breathe, but Hawk smiled. He lowered himself on top of her and began kissing her neck once more and rubbing between her legs with his hand.
“Honey, if there is one thing you should remember about me, it’s that I don’t call it quits after just once. I hope you’ve got a clear schedule because that was just the first of many, many climaxes you are going to have before the day is out.” He spoke softly, his face mere inches from her. Kathryn smiled and
settled in on the bed, spreading her legs and inviting him inside her once again.
She was up for the challenge.
Chapter Eleven
Hawk
Hawk woke the next morning and looked over his shoulder. He was still in Kathryn’s room, and she was sleeping soundly on the bed next to him, but she wasn’t touching him at all. He was relieved for that, as he was feeling upset with himself for what he had done with her the day before. It wasn’t that he hadn’t wanted to have sex with her—he had been dreaming of that since the night they had gone out on the date—but he couldn’t believe that he had been so easily seduced by her.
He slipped out of the bed and turned to look at her. Lying on her side as she was, he could see her breasts rising and falling with the blanket open, and he had to fight the urge to bend forward and kiss them once more. But he knew he couldn’t. Not only was he angry with himself for being seduced, but the last thing he wanted to have was pillow talk.
They had gone hard the rest of the afternoon and into the evening, enjoying the dinner room service they’d ordered in, as well as the alcohol in the room. By the time Kathryn had passed out on the bed, he had made her climax so many times that he had even lost count. Hawk, too, had laid back on the bed with a contented sigh. He didn’t know the meaning of a dry spell, but there was something about the fact that he had just had sex with Kathryn again that he was having a difficult time accepting.
They had split over petty differences years ago when he hadn’t wanted to commit to anything serious or long term, and she’d been too busy going through a stage of rebellion against her father. Though they were still very much the same—him with his lack of interest in commitment and her with her ongoing daddy issues—they were also quite different than the people they had been before. She hadn’t been a game player before—she’d always been overt about her manipulations, at least— and Hawk didn’t like that change, however hypocritical it was. And he hadn’t had any kind of sense of responsibility to anything or anyone but himself and now … well, he was at least attempting some semblance. He really didn’t want to start up with her again. The sex was great, but there were too many complications. This had to be a onetime thing.
