I absent-mindedly thanked him, and it didn’t occur to me until I was halfway back to the bathroom that I hadn’t mentioned anything about taking a bath, and that even if I had, there was no way it would be anything but lukewarm by now anyway.
I walked into the bathroom to drain it when I noticed steam wafting from the water. I dipped a tentative index finger into the water and found it almost scalding hot.
Rather than too cold, it was almost uncomfortably hot. I waited five minutes and got in, having a divine soak in water that seemed as hot and fresh after twenty minutes as it had when I first drew the bath nearly an hour ago.
