“Hey, pizza is actually healthy. You know, there is nothing deep fried,” she said as she sat down.
“Yes and the processed meat is…what?” Steven asked as he looked at her.
“There is absolutely nothing wrong with processed meats,” she said looking at him. “America was built on processed meats,” she said.
“Of course it was. Your country has the highest number of fast food joints than the entire European continent,” Steven said.
“What? We are a busy country. We hardly ever have enough time to cook ergo the need to eat out every so often,” Julie explained.
“Every so often? I know a person who eats out every single day,” Steven said with a smile as he took a bite of his food.
“You know why it is called The American Dream? It’s because we are hard workers,” she said.
“Well, it does not make any sense to me for a person to drive for an hour just to have a meal and then drive back home in another hour. That’s a whole lot of time to waste for food,” Steven said.
“What? We love good food too,” Julie exclaimed before she took a bite. “And speaking of good food, this is awesome!” she said before she took another bite.
“And that cost less than five dollars. At a restaurant you would have probably spent what, eighty dollars?” he asked.
“Probably,” Julie said smiling.
“Well, it never made any sense to me. Actually, any person who comes to the States and starts a restaurant business is bound to make a lot of money since it is clear that that is what Americans are hell bent on spending a lot of their hard earned cash on anyway,” Steven said.
“Yeah but even you like a good deep fried drumstick from KFC every so often,” Julie argued.
“Every so often,” Steven agreed smiling. “Not every single day. And you wonder why cases of obese children are so high here,” he added.
“Hey, that’s racist,” Julie said pointing her fork at him.
“I didn’t say anything against any race in particular,” he said looking at her. She looked at him and shrugged.
“Yeah, well, I had to say something,” she said before she took a bite of her food.
“And racism was what came to mind?” Steven asked. Julie looked at him and nodded. “Even though I am a British man in a relationship with an African American woman,” he said looking at her. Julie smiled and took a sip of her wine.
“Like I said, I had to say something,” she said.
“By the way, thanks for giving me blue balls yesterday,” he grinned looking at her. Julie forced a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled.
“I had promised you a nooner but you had a meeting. What was I supposed to do barge in and strip right in front of your clients?”
“Well, that wouldn’t have been the worst idea in the world,” he surmised. She looked at him and smiled. “If anything I might have had more business as a result,” he added. A smile played on her lips as she looked at him.
“You know I don’t really have to finish my wine,” she whispered.
“No you don’t,” he said as he pushed his chair back. Julie grinned as she watched him walk over to where she was and take her hands in his. She grinned as he looked at her. She always loved how every experience with him was like the first. The way he looked at her, almost like he was looking at her for the very first time. “Let me look at you,” he demanded in a whisper as he looked at her from head to toe. She still had on the dress she wore to work, a cream white sleeveless pencil dress that perfectly accentuated her greatest assets. She looked at him as he gave her a slight caress using the tips of his fingers. He gently turned her around and slowly pulled down the zipper. She closed her eyes as he slowly pushed the dress off her shoulders and then further down her body. She felt a shiver when the dress gathered around her ankles and he pulled her close into his arms. “I feel like it’s been forever since I made love to you,” he said in a soft voice.
Julie smiled, she also felt the same. He slowly turned her around so he could face him and then held her waist before bringing his head down to kiss her softly. She let out a soft whimper and put one arm around his neck. She let out another moan when she felt his hand drop to cup her ass as he slowly backed her up against the wall. When he finally got to the wall, he put his hands on either side of her and pulled away from her. He looked at her slightly opened mouth and gently caressed her lips with his index finger.
“What did you do to me, Julie,” he said in a whisper before he kissed her neck. She moaned softly when he traced his tongue up one side of her neck as he held the other side in his hand. His hand dropped to her shoulder just as he pulled away from her. She looked up at him as he turned her around and made her face the wall. She was panting by this time. There was something about never knowing what would come next with him. She put her hands on the wall as he kissed her shoulder and traced his kisses across her shoulder to the other side. A soft moan escaped her lips when his touch got even lower to unclasp her bra. She dropped her arms to her side, allowing him to slip the bra off her hands.
“It’s not fair. You are still fully dressed,” she said in a whisper as he went on kissing her shoulders again.
“I know. Your turn will come. Soon enough,” he whispered back as he slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. He cupped a feel of her breast as he went on to kiss the sensitive area behind her ear. She moaned softly and closed her eyes as she felt him take in her sensitive lobe in his mouth. He turned her around again and looked at her hardened nipples before he pulled her into his arms to kiss her again. She looked at him as he pulled away from her and took her hand in his before he got on the floor, getting her to join him there. She looked at him as he knelt in front of her looking at her almost naked body. She wanted to take off her panties but she knew that getting the last piece of garment off her body was something he relished. She closed her eyes again when he ran his hands down her torso, brushing her sensitive nipples. When he pushed her panties down, she got down on the floor so he could pull them off her feet. She was breathing fast as he traced kisses up her leg to her upper thigh. “You are so wet,” he moaned when he brushed a finger against her pussy making the muscles around her groin tighten.
“Yeah, baby. I want you,” she begged as his lips slowly came up to her breasts. “I want you so bad,” she said when he took a nipple in his mouth. She was squirming as he tugged and pulled at her nipple. It was almost impossible to keep still as he kissed, sucked and caressed her. “Please baby…” she pleaded when he pulled away from her. She looked up at him as he looked down at her, a sly smile on his lips. He lifted his hands to his shirt as he looked at her.
“Should I do it or do you want the honor?” he asked in a low voice. He presented his hands to her and she looked at him for a long second before she placed her small hands in his. He smiled as he pulled her up. The sensations in her body were making it hard for her to have steady fingers. She was trembling as she undid the buttons on his shirt and it was only a few seconds later when she realized that what was happening in her body would not allow her to go slow. She held the two ends of his shirt and pulled them apart, sending shirt buttons flying all over the floor. “That works too,” Steven said as he took off his shirt. He then undid his belt buckle and loosened it before he pulled the zipper down. She watched him as he took the pants off revealing his full on raging hard on. At that moment, she realized that she had never wanted him more. She looked up at him and smiled. She took his hand and pulled him down but he resisted. “I want you on top. I want to look at you,” he said. She got on her knees and put her arms around his neck and he put his hands under her ass pulling her close. He got on his side, pulling her down with him before he flipped her over and got her on top of him. He held her close as he guided his cock into her pussy. He watched her mouth form a perfect O as he got inside her, so deep that even he wanted to cry out. She looked down at him as she felt him filling her every fold, feeling each contour.
“Baby…” she whimpered as he looked up at her.
“Do it,” Steven said. “Fuck me.” She began to slowly move up and down his cock, slowly sliding her pussy against his cock, making him moan softly. “Fuck, I’ve missed that,” he moaned as she went on moving up and down, unraveling him with her body. Soon enough, she was almost drop fucking herself on him and he was holding on to her for dear life. From that position, she did not feel like she had any control over her loins. All she knew was watching her man almost coming apart under her was all she needed to break her down. What happened next, she did not expect. He held her hips in his hands and began thrusting upwards, causing her to shiver feverishly.
“Oh God,” she managed to say in a hushed whisper.
“Yes, baby, feel me,” he said as he looked at her breasts bouncing up and down with every thrust. “Julie, my Julie,” he moaned as he went on thrusting into her almost violently. By this time, she was lying on top of him, her head buried in his shoulder as he fucked her. She could feel him going deeper and harder into her. It was almost impossible to hold on to the last shred of sanity she had left.
“Too much baby…it’s too much,” she said in a hushed whisper.
“Hold off,” Steven said in a voice that sounded more like a command than a request. He held her tightly as his thrusts got harder, going deeper than ever. She dug her nails into his shoulders, making him groan as he thrust even deeper.
“Baby,” she begged.
“Wait,” he said as he held her tighter, pulling her, almost trying to merge himself into her.
“I can’t…I can’t…” she cried out as she felt him getting his release.
“Now! Come for me baby,” he commanded just seconds before she let herself go, their passion marrying into one. She was shivering as he held her closely. “Damn, I’ve missed that,” he said as she collapsed on top of him.
“I swear baby, one of these days you’ll make me take a personal week from work,” she said panting. He laughed as she got off him. He held her closely and kissed her forehead.
“Why don’t you?” he asked. She looked at him and shook her head.
“Why don’t I what?” she asked.
“Take a personal week,” he said smiling.
“Do you even know the meaning of personal time?”
“I would love to think that it means something involving me,” he said.
“At this rate it would have to involve a lot of ice too,” she said. Steven looked at her almost concerned.
“Do I hurt you?”
“No, it’s nothing like that,” she said. “It’s just that…if I had what we just did like three times a day, I would be unbelievably sore,” she said.
“Really,” he said with a faraway look in his eyes.
“Relax, I’m a long way from asking for ice,” she said smiling up at him.
“Good, because I was thinking of round two in around twenty to thirty minutes,” he said with a smile. She looked at him and smiled back before a shiver went through her body. “Maybe we should take this to the bedroom before someone gets pneumonia,” he said as he pulled himself up and then helped her up. “Leave that. We can do it later,” he said when she tried bending to pick up some of the clothes that were all over the floor. “By the way, your cousin came to see me at work yesterday,” he told her when they got to the bedroom.
“She what? What reason could she possibly have to come see you? I didn’t even know she knew where your office was,” Julie fretted.
“I didn’t either. But apparently, you get a lot of information when you Google me,” he said.
“Clearly. I don’t even think that is safe,” Julie said as she got under the covers. “So, what did she want?” she asked.
“She is looking to set up a business here. You know she is going through a divorce right?” he asked. Julie scoffed.
“Yeah the fiftieth,” she said.
“What?” he asked as he got under the covers next to her.
“Nothing. What kind of business?” she asked, looking at him.
“She was talking about a salon. Some kind of hair boutique,” he said and then smiled. “I didn’t even know hair had a boutique,” he added.
“Well, with women of color, hair is a big deal, especially since it needs special care. That is how human hair weaves were born,” Julie grinned.
“Wait, they actually get hair from humans and put it on other people’s heads?” he asked almost shocked.
“The things women do for beauty,” she replied.
“Wait, do you do that? Is this someone else’s hair?” he asked as he looked at her scalp. She laughed and shook her head.
“Lucky for me, both my mother’s and father’s side of the family had great hair. So, I’m good,” she said as she ran her fingers through her hair. She smiled as she watched Steven breathe a sigh of relief. “But seriously, there is a reason why I never told you about Melina. She is…conniving to say the least.”
“But she is family,” Steven remarked, looking at her. She shook her head and took her hand in his.
“Trust me, you don’t want anything to do with her,” she said as she looked into his eyes.
Chapter 5
As Julie sipped on her coffee at her desk, she was really hoping she had managed to get through to Steven about Melina. There was definitely something fishy. Why would she be AWOL for so many years and then suddenly show up just when she ‘heard’ that she had her very own place. There was nothing anyone could say that would make her feel differently. Melina was after something, of that she was sure.
“Earth to Julie,” she heard her boss’ voice. She looked up and smiled at her.
“Hey, Dana,” she greeted wearily. Dana sat down in front of her desk and looked at her.
“Okay, what is it?” she asked. Julie smiled and then took another sip from her cup.
“What makes you think something’s up?”
Dana raised an eyebrow and smiled.
“Everything,” she said.
“Really?” Julie said with a smile. “Enlighten me,” she said leaning back in her seat.
“Well, for starters, you are here way past five," Dana said as she looked at her wrist watch.
“Come on, it’s not that late. It’s only…” she paused to look at the bottom right corner of her computer screen and gasped. “What the hell,” she suddenly exclaimed.
“Told you,” Dana said smiling.
“I thought it was probably around six,” she complained, as she started packing up.
“And that, my dear, is how I know that something’s wrong,” Dana said. Julie shut down her computer and sighed.
“Family issues,” she admitted as she put her laptop bag in the bag. “A whole lot of family issues,” she added and grabbed her handbag.
“Oh, I know all about that,” Dana said laughing. “And they wonder why I never look forward to the holidays,” she added. Julie looked at her and shook her head.
“What? But you and your folks are pretty close, right?” she questioned. Dana smiled and nodded.
“Well, yeah of course. My parents and I are close, my sisters too. The problem comes with the cousins and aunts from my mother’s third cousin twice removed…or whatever they call them,” she said. Julie laughed.
“Boy, don’t I know it,” she said.
“Which one of those are you dealing with?” Dana asked.
“Cousin,” Julie said with a smile.
“Well, all the best. I’m off to dinner with Jared. He has this whole romantic evening planned…I’m excited!” Dana said rubbing her hands together.
“You guys really keep the flame alive in your marriage, don’t you?”
“That’s the only way to survive a marriage,” Dana responded.
“I guess,” Julie said as she got up from her seat. “Maybe I’ll be able to do the same when I get there,” she added as the two walked out of the office.
“What are you talking about? You have a British man. The only way he cou
ld be better is if he was part French,” Dana teased. Julie smiled and shrugged.
“Guess you are right,” she agreed. She was all smiles as they got into the elevator. She did have the perfect man. She couldn’t have done better if she tried. “See you tomorrow,” she said when they got to the parking floor.
“Tomorrow,” Dana replied as she got into her car. As soon as Julie got into her car, she heard her phone ring. She dug into her bag and got her phone out, but as soon as she looked at the screen, she had half a mind to toss the phone out the window.
“Hi Melina,” she hissed when she picked up.
“Hi, Julz. I was wondering when you were going to get home because I really wanted to see you,” Melina said. Julie rolled her eyes.
“I have things to do this evening Melina. I can’t see you today,” she said. “Can’t you just tell me whatever it is over the phone?”
“Not really. It’s sensitive…the kind of stuff that needs to be discussed face to face,” Melina confessed. Julie was cursing silently.
“Okay, how about tomorrow? I can meet you before I go to work?” she asked. She could hear Melina hesitant to answer.
“Okay, fine. I’ll just let you know what it’s about,” Melina said.
“Took you long enough,” Julie thought.
“Okay, now that I am a divorced woman, I was thinking of venturing into business. Maybe something to do with fashion, you know, like clothes or something,” Melina said. Julie sat in silence, wondering what exactly she was expected to say. “Hello, Julz, are you still there?” Melina asked when Julie stayed silent for too long.
“Yeah, I’m still here. But Melina, we’ve been down this road,” Julie said.
“Maybe, but not like this,” Melina said excitedly.
“Really? How different is this time?”
“Well, I tried something I wasn’t familiar with. That is how different this time is,” Melina answered.
“Really? You have done salons, hair boutiques, restaurants, fast food joints…all these had and still have a potential to be something big, but you chose not to see it through,” Julie said. “This is just another way for some poor soul in this case me, to lose some hard earned green, isn’t it?” Julie added. There was a long silence from Melina’s end of the line before she finally spoke.
