Worth It All Page 14

It's been three weeks since we got engaged. Declan came to L.A. to deal with Mario. He's still here. Rian came last week. Declan has to fight one last time and he was "out of shape" or so he says. I thought he look the same as before, but he's been hitting the gym with Vance everyday since he's been here. We hardly see either of them. Vance's film schedule has only gotten worse. He leaves at 5 and most days isn't home again until 10 or later. I'm starting to feel like I have a bed partner instead of a fiancé. There hasn't been any hanky panky since the night we got engaged. I miss him touching me. He's supposed to have this Friday off. The only reason is to be at Declan's fight. It's hard being with an actor especially when your not on set everyday. He told me he could have me on as his hair stylist but then I'd be leaving Victor at the salon. I love it there. I pour myself a cup of coffee when I hear, "Morning." Rian walks into the kitchen looking exhausted. "Hey babe you ok," I ask. She nods as she walks to the fridge pulling out the orange juice. I grab a cup from the cupboard handing it to her. "Thanks," she says as she takes it. She's seems like she's getting bigger almost daily now. "I hate this," she says as she puts the juice away. "Hate what," I ask as I take a sip of coffee. She huffs saying, "Declan working out all the time. I can't sleep as it is. It's worse without him." I nod my understanding. I hate Vance getting up so early everyday then I'm wide awake missing him. "Well it's only until Friday babe," I tell her trying to help. She huffs saying, "Yeah sure." I give her a funny look. "He said he misses it," she tells me looking down at her juice. I don't know what to say. Declan has to know being a fighter is not the kind of job a husband and father should be doing. From what Vance told me they're pretty brutal too. Vance was at a fight where a guy got beaten so bad he ended up dying from internal bleeding. I'm scared to go watch Friday. I can't imagine how Rian's feeling. "He wouldn't go back," I ask hesitantly. Rian shrugs saying, "I know he hates being a trainer, but it pays really well. He had a football player and a baseball player he was training before we left New York." She sighs sitting her juice down. I have a feeling she has more to say so I stand quietly and wait. She touches her stomach saying, "I don't want him putting himself in danger. I mean our baby needs to know him. He's gonna be the best dad, Sadie." Tears spring to her eyes. I walk to her placing my hands over hers on her belly saying, "Rian he would never leave you or his baby. He adores you both." I hope I'm right. I don't know Declan really well but from what Vance told me. He had never considered quitting fighting before her. The door opens. Speak of the devil. I look at the time. What's he doing here? As soon as he comes into view I gasp. He looks like someone beat him with a bat. His left eye is swollen shut, the right eye brow is spilt open, his lip is spilt, and his left cheek is spilt. "What the hell," Rian says as she walks to him. He smiles at her saying, "I uh challenged Vance to a fight this morning. You should see him," he says smugly. "You beat up Vance," I yell angrily. He chuckles saying, "Hey he can hold his own. This action movie shit may be good for him." Rian looks over her shoulder at me trying not to smile. I shake my head swallowing down the last bit of coffee I have. "I bet their gonna love you for sending him all beat up to work," I say annoyed. "Actually the make up girl said it would save her some time since he basically looks beat up through the entire movie anyway," he says with a shrug. "Oh well I feel so much better now," I tell him holding my hand to my chest. I grab my purse then walk out the door. I hear Rian call out, "Have a great day," as I slam the door behind me.
