Sensations exploded all around Kevin. He hiked up her soft sweater in order to touch her bare belly. Teasing her belly button with his tongue, Kevin peered up her. Sasha's eyes were ablaze with desire.
“Do you know how stunning you are?” he whispered, rubbing his hands along her sides. Not really looking for an answer, he pulled back, took her hands, and held her close to him. “I've always thought you were pretty, but I've really gotten to know you the last few days. I want more. I want to know everything there is to know about you.”
Sasha threaded her fingers together around the back of his neck. “I want that, too,” she whispered, stepping on her tip toes to kiss him again.
Every pulse point throbbed within his body. “I should close the curtains and lock the door. Unless you want to stop this.”
“I don't want to stop. Doesn't anyone have a key?”
“They do, but my family saw me come in here with you. They won't bug us. Still, I don't need any Peeping Toms looking at the view of my girl.” In a few quick strides, he made it to the door and locked it, then slid the chain on. “Ha. There we go. The chain's in place, and there's no key to that.”
“Your girl?”
She looked damn good with her smudged lipstick and rumpled shirt. He wondered what she sounded like when being rocked by an orgasm. No better time to find out than now. Kevin stepped slowly toward her, eyes focused on her face.
“My girl,” he whispered when he stood right in front of her. “Right now, that's what you are. Even for a little while. I'd like it to be a lot longer.” He trailed a finger along her neck, causing a ripple of shivers. “I want to forget about everything else for a while. The only thing on my mind is how I can please you.” Sliding a hand under her shirt, he moved it along her bare back. “I want you, and I want you now. What say you?”
Sasha's response was a hot kiss before she flung her sweater off, tossing it on the floor by the boxes of Christmas stuff.
Enough said.
He picked her up. She wrapped her legs around him like a pretzel and held on as Kevin waltzed to the bedroom.
Memories consumed him. There were girls in high school who tried to seduce him in this room. It never worked, at least not the way they wanted. Yeah, he'd kissed and made out and did a few bouts of oral, but Kevin never had sex in this room, much to their dismay.
Sasha would be the first, and the only.
He gently untangled her legs from him and laid her flat on her back on the bed. Her blonde curls stood out against the dark maroon bedsheets. Her lips were puffy from his kisses, and her gorgeous eyes were settled on his face, giving him the same look of lust that he was pretty damn sure he gave her at the moment. Years of naked Sasha in his bed fantasies were about to come true right now. He fingered the top of her black lacy bra. “I can't tell you how many times I've imagined you like this.” Kevin leaned over her and whispered in her ear. “Confession: My very first kiss scene, I pretended the woman was you. That's how I made my kiss scene so real.”
“Kiss me that way right now, then. Later, you're going to have to show me the movie.” Her voice came out hoarse, just above a whisper.
Kevin delivered, claiming her lips. When she opened for him, Kevin made his move and slid his tongue in her mouth. He hardened, desire coursing through him. Sasha's fingers drifted lazily up his torso as she tugged his shirt upward and eventually over his head. Now sans his shirt, Kevin's lips found hers again. She tasted sensational. Taking her hands in his, Kevin eased her to a sitting position, slid her bra straps down, then reached around to unclasp it, unleashing her ready and waiting breasts. As much as he wanted his mouth all over them, he removed her shoes and pants first.
Before he slid out of his pants and boxers, Kevin pulled off her panties with two fingers, exposing her naked body to him. He sucked in a breath as he studied her. Damn, this woman was gorgeous.
I want her in my life.
The feeling wouldn't fade, either. Kevin knew that right away. A few weeks here with her wouldn't be enough.
Sasha looked good sprawled naked across his bed. Creamy, soft skin awaited his every touch, and he made sure to tease her. Kissing, nipping, licking in all the right places. When a moan escaped her lips, Kevin spread her legs wider and settled between them. “I want to taste you,” he whispered in a plead, sliding a finger inside her. He craved her in every single way.
“Yes, please yes!”
“Save that excitement. This is just the beginning.” Kevin stroked her, getting the exact response he longed for. As soon as the first flick of his tongue touched her, Sasha writhed, another moan slipping past her lips.
Kevin continued to toy with her, taunting, teasing, loving in every way. Sasha arched her back as he worked his tongue between her legs. She'd never experienced anything like this. He worked her to the brink of ecstasy and she fought a scream he brought her to the full point of an orgasm. Her body, especially her legs, spasmed and her head fell back against the soft plush pillow. Kevin disappeared before he popped back up with a condom packet. The smoldering look in his eyes penetrated deep into her soul. How did she wind up here with Kevin Wright? She debated on pinching herself to see if this was all a wild, hot dream.
But it wasn't.
This was her current reality, and Sasha was falling hard and fast for the man she once loathed.
Kevin rolled the condom over his cock, then straddled her. His fingers splayed across her left breast, plucking at her nipple lightly before his mouth covered it. Hot searing pleasure coursed through her. He slid inside her, thrusting hard and fast. Sasha cried out, finding it hard to breathe.
“Sasha,” he uttered, burying his face in neck as they moved in rhythmic motions together. She arched upward again, wanting him deep and fully inside her.
Kevin obliged.
His hand covered hers at her side as they rode to pleasure together, crying out when they reached a climax.
The look in Kevin's eyes was one of sheer pleasure. So much depth and emotion carried her away and he rested on top of her, breathing deeply. Sasha ran her fingers through his hair, closed her eyes and wished this moment wouldn't end.
Chapter Fifteen
I just made love with Kevin Wright.
Lying naked in the bed next to him, Sasha's mind was in a rut. Now would be the perfect time to come clean. She was in way over her head. This had become more than two people who knew each other in high school spending time together. Getting naked and having sex changed things.
“If I could move, I'd say we should get up and decorate that tree before I have to take you home.” Kevin ran invisible trails lazily along her belly.
Sasha raised her head from her spot in the crook of his arm. “Thank you.”
“For taking you to bed?” He raised a brow.
She laughed. “No. For doing this today. The bed part was a perk, and a great one at that.”
“Mmm. I wouldn't mind another round or three.” He reached for her again. “But I think I'll take my time. Unless you object.”
“When it comes to you, I'm not objecting,” she replied.
He flipped the covers off and searched for his boxers. Still not ready to move, Sasha watched in awe as Kevin dressed. He was so tan and muscled! How often did he ever go to the beach? She'd love to walk along the beach, hand in hand with him after a moment like they'd just had.
This was all a dream. They probably had a few more shots of getting in bed together before he moved on and she did whatever was next for her.
Why did that bother her so damn much?
Kevin Wright got to her in places and ways she never expected.
He pinned her with a sexy smile. “Get out of bed, lazy! We have a tree to decorate.” Kevin tossed his shirt over his head, covering up her view of his abs. He picked up her pants and tossed them at her.
“Well, since you took away my fun, I have no choice,” she grumbled playfully.
“We'll have more fun. I'll make sure of it.”
The to
ne in his voice gave her chills.
Ten minutes later, they were both fully clothed and having a good time decorating the tree. Kevin was like a child in awe of the whole process. Sasha couldn't help but laugh. After having a fully decorated tree, they huddled on the couch together, staring at it. Kevin slid his arm around her and pulled her close. She took comfort in his steady heartbeat as she laid her head against his chest.
“See? The little misfit tree now has a home, and he bloomed.” Kevin pointed.
Sasha chuckled. “You did well picking that one.”
“You did well showing me the fun of decorating. It's such a little thing, but I enjoyed the time spent with you. What other Christmas traditions do you enjoy?”
“That's my biggest one.” Sasha thought back through her childhood and teen years. “The best was spending time with Dad. He's all I have, and I'm losing him, too.”
He squeezed her shoulder. “I'm sorry about his illness. He's not all you have now, though. You have me.”
At his words, Sasha peered up at him. Kevin's expression was serious.
He stroked her cheek. “Is this weird? I feel like I'm falling hard. I know it's a short time, but we have known each other- or at least known of each other almost all our lives.”
He had a point.
“It's weird, but not because it's a short time. I guess...I never expected this with you,” Sasha admitted.
“Will you let me help you then? I know you don't want someone to give you a handout, but what if we do something that gives us a chance at a future?”
“What exactly are you asking?” She sat up straight, attentive all of a sudden.
“I'm asking you to let me in your life, and your heart. I'm asking for some serious consideration to us. I've got the means to get your dad in the best place possible, but you have to let me make it happen.” Kevin placed a hand over her heart. “You're a good woman who wants to take everything on, but you can't.”
The guilt knife went in a lot deeper.
She had every intention of telling him this minor detail- or at least, Sasha hoped it would be one, but his phone rang.
Dodged the bullet again. Not a good thing.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Kevin roared, hearing what Jack had to say, but not actually giving it a lot of thought before reacting.
“Marianne knows about you and Sasha. She's already dug. She's saying you got Sasha pregnant, and that's why you dumped her.”
“What? How the hell is that possible? She's not even pregnant!” Kevin stole a look at a flabbergasted Sasha. Wait. Her father had said something about being pregnant and held up a test, and Kevin had been there. But it didn't explain how anyone else would know that. Shit! Not good! Not good for him, but especially not good for Sasha.
“Someone said something. You're in a small town. Word spreads, someone picks it up and makes it more viral. It was going well for you until that one. Now you're Scrooge and a womanizer.”
Ugh. I can't even go home for holidays in peace,” Kevin snapped, seeing red. It wasn't Jack's fault. Marianne had her plan, and she would do whatever she could to ruin him.
“It might be time to share your side of the story. Squash Marianne and her plans.”
“Dude, if I did that...” Kevin played the worst case scenarios in his mind. “No. I don't want the truth out there. I can't.”
“Kevin-”
“You don't know how bad it was! If I tell everyone what happened, you can kiss your paychecks goodbye, because I won't have a career!”
“Will you listen to me? She's going to tarnish your name! Marianne is going to ruin you!”
“I'm screwed either way! Look, send me what she's saying, and I'll take care of it. I have to go.” Kevin hung up quickly, his breath ragged. He was shaking.
“What happened?” Sasha was on her feet immediately, reaching for him.
Just when he thought he could start over fresh and never have to bring up the past, it came crashing down. Would anyone believe him if he told his side of the story? Would they all look at him differently because this kind of thing was never brought out in the open often.
“You're going to hate me right about now,” he muttered, looking away.
“Not possible. Talk to me. You've been there for me. Let me do the same.” Sasha gently cupped his face.
“My ex-girlfriend Marianne is making a spectacle. You're now dragged into it. I don't know how, but she's spinning a tale that I left her because I got a girl in my hometown pregnant.”
It took a moment for her to register what he said. “The day my dad freaked out on me, thinking I was fifteen and pregnant. How the hell did that get out as you getting me pregnant?” She clapped a hand over her mouth.
“Neighbors, maybe? Everyone knows I'm home. I've been dubbed as a local hero for 'saving' you the other night. They're watching me. Marianne must have heard something and spun it her way. Damn it, I'm so sorry, Sasha.”
She hugged him. “I'm not pregnant, so there's nothing to worry about.”
Oh, how little she knew.
“That's besides the point. We're going to be caught up in a huge web of lies. Marianne was pregnant and she lost the baby. I don't even know if it was mine, but I came home and found her on the floor. I rushed her to the hospital and that's when I found out about the baby. She changed after that. Or maybe she didn't and I just never saw it. Marianne became emotionally aggressive, and a few times, physically.” His stomach clenched as he told her this.
“She...hit you?”
Why didn't he shut up? Why, why, why?
“In anger. We were fighting,” he quickly defended. Hell no. He should not be defending Marianne. But to save himself from any public embarrassment...
“Kevin, I-”
He searched her eyes for any sign of disgust. There was none.
“It wasn't a big deal by any means, but-”
“No, don't you dare say that!” Sasha shouted, her voice full of anger. “Don't ever excuse her for hitting you, or anything else she might have done. I understand why you don't want this getting out, but you can't defend her actions. I don't care how angry someone is, there's no reason for hitting or any other type of abuse. Now she's pulling on all your strings, isn't she?”
“Yeah,” he bit out, not wanting to talk about this. “She manipulated me from the start. I got a sob story about how she was abused. I actually- that's how we met. I got her out of a nasty situation, not knowing. We were at a party, and I found her in the bathroom crying. She told me her story, and I got her away. We ended up together for two years. When she lost the baby, everything went to hell. After the last fight, where she actually came at me with a sharp object, I said that was it. I couldn't do it any more. Hell, I feared for my life!”
“God, Kevin. I'm sorry.” She grasped his hand “Then it turns out she caused it from the start, and you got sucked into her web.”
“Maybe. I don't think I know the whole story, to be honest.” He raked a hand through his hair. “I should take you home.”
“You should, but not to avoid this conversation.” Sasha shook her head. “I'm not afraid of her, and I'm not afraid of whatever she's going to throw my way because I'm involved with you.”
“My sister is going to be furious.”
“Why?”
“Because she'll claim I'm ruining her wedding.”
Sasha rolled her eyes. “She needs to get over herself then. Your life is just as important.”
Overcome with feeling, he pulled her to him and kissed her. “Thank you for saying that.” It had been a long time since someone made him matter. Too long.
“I mean it, Kevin. Marly Jean is pretty selfish. I'm seeing that with all of your family.”
Chapter Sixteen
If one more person asked Sasha if she was pregnant, heads would roll.
She got a part time job with Casey, who'd heard about her getting fired. It wasn't much pay, and not many hours, but she'd take what sh
e could. Three days after the tabloid stories involving Kevin and her broke, the town was in a story craze. People who'd never paid attention to her before suddenly did.
As she rang up someone's order, the bell jingled. The woman left with her order receipt, leaving Sasha face to face with Jace.
“Is it true?” he asked quietly. A trace of anger laced his voice.
“What?” She had a feeling what he meant.
“Are you pregnant? There's no way Kevin got you pregnant, so the only thing I can think of that sparked the rumor is you and I.” He searched her face, his eyes full of worry and concern.
“I thought I was. I put off taking a test until a couple weeks ago. It was negative. You're off the hook, Jace.” She turned away, eager to get back to work and away from this conversation.
“Sasha, that's not fair. If you were, I would have done everything for you and the baby.”
“Except love me,” she spat, unsure why. She didn't have those feelings for him either, so why the hell did she have to get so edgy?
His jaw dropped, then he gathered his wits. “What the hell? I thought we were okay.”
She cupped a hand over her mouth, took in a deep breath, then calmed herself. “We are. Sorry. I'm feeling a lot of pressure right now, and I snapped at the wrong person. I didn't want my pregnancy scare to come out like this.”
“I can imagine. So...this thing with you and Kevin. Is this serious?” Jace asked.
“It could be.” If he'd let her in. Ever since that day, Kevin shut everyone out. He talked to her, especially since he was helping her with Dad, but that connection they'd built had faded a little.
“I hope he treats you well. You deserve it. Are you going to move?”
“I might. It depends on where I can get my dad in. Maybe it's best for us both to get away from here.”
“Just for the record, I don't hold anything against your dad. In his mind, he was doing what was right.” Jace stepped closer, leaning against the counter.
“I know. It's old news.”
“Yeah, but you suffered over it. You lived in your car just to get away from him.”
