by Georgie Lee
“Edward, I’m so sorry.” Her voice wavered as she struggled to put into words everything in her heart. “You did all you could to prove your love, but I couldn’t put aside my doubts or fears to believe in you.”
“I’m the one who should apologize.” He tucked the small curl dangling by her cheek behind her ear, his hand lingering next to her face, warm against the chill air. “I never should have lied to you, or tried to test your love for me. I was stupid, and I almost lost you because of it. I won’t be so foolish again.”
“Nor I. I love you. I always will, no matter what.”
He swept her into his arms, his lips meeting hers in one graceful movement. The tender heat of his kiss spread through her body as she melted into him, the love in her embrace matching his. He would never leave or betray her, and she would never doubt him. The certainty of it lingered in her soul.
As he hugged her tightly, their kiss deepening, a gentle breeze rustled through the garden, pausing to whisper around them before passing off into the night.
