My eyes went big and I looked around.
I left my bag at the pizza place. I sighed, knowing I wasn’t carryings any money on me.
“I guess not.” I frowned.
“Here,” I turned around and saw that the guy was standing right by me. He held out some money for me to take.
I shook my head no. “I can’t take that.”
“Go ahead.” The girl said coming by me and setting her things on the table. “Trust, he’ll just spend it on things he doesn’t need.” She nodded her head on to the beer that was on the table.
“All of this is going to be together?” The clerk asked.
“Yup,” The girl said.
“Can I see some ID?” The clerk asked.
“Sure you can, but I don’t think you need to.” The girl laughed leaning over showing off her big chest. “I’m sure you remember me from last time.”
I wondered if her slight flirting was really going to work. When it seemed like it wasn’t going to the guy with her frowned.
“Right,” The guy murmured staring into the clerk’s eyes. “She hates showing people her real age.”
“Right, I forgot.” The clerk said and took the money from the guy.
“You’re not really of age, are you?” I asked as we all walked out of the corner store.
“No, but I do have a great fake ID.” The girl laughed. “My name is Samantha by the way, but you can call me Sam. That’s Matt.”
“Bonnie.” I told them and grabbed my water tightly. “Thanks for the water, but I should be going.”
“Don’t go.” Sam let out, grabbing my arm. “We’re going to a party in the woods, by the lake. You should come.”
“The lake?” I asked. Not remembering any lake around here.
“It’s more like a pond, but there more free drinks and food.” Matt told me with a wide grin. “And a fire.”
“I don’t think I should.” I told them, feeling like I should go back and find Jay. I had been so mean to him. I just needed to talk to him and explain why I was so mad.
“Come on, he needs to worry a bit.” Sam sang.
“He?” I question confused.
“Only a guy will make you have that look on your face.” Sam laughed. I didn’t know I had a look on my face. “So, come on. Making the guy worry a bit keeps them in line.”
“It sure does.” Matt laughed, agreeing. “Besides, you’ll have fun.”
“And he’ll be worrying.” Sam smiled. “So, when you see him again he’ll be so sorry for whatever he did.”
I bit my bottom lip.
I was mad at Jay, but at the same time I knew it was partly my fault. So, I didn’t want to make him worry anymore then he probably was. He was just trying to protect me, in his own stupid way.
But Jay had done some crazy things already. Making him worry just a bit more couldn’t hurt.
I could go to their party. They had been nice to me.
“Okay, I’ll come, but only for a bit.” I told them.
“Great.” Sam jumped up and grabbed my hand. “It’s going to be so much fun. We always have a little get together there.”
I shook my head following them in the forest.
This was really unsafe. I didn’t know them, but if something happened to me, I knew, Jay would be able to come and save me.
I wanted to laugh. Here I was trying to make Jay worry and I was happy that he could save me if something went wrong.
“Hey, Sam….Matt,” A guy with curly brown hair said. “You got more beer, great.”
“Hey, James,” Matt laughed. “You got the stuff for the shots.”
“Yeah,” James let out then paused when his eyes landed on me. A smile went across his face when he looked at me. “Hey, there, pretty lady.”
“Hey.” I laughed, nervously.
“Bonnie, this is James. James Bonnie.” Sam smiled, wrapping an arm around me.
“Are you here on your own free will?” James laughed staring at me then at Matt.
I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to answer that or not. It kind of felt like he was making a joke, so, I just shook my head smiling.
“Come on, Bonnie.” Sam said pulling me to the fire. “Let’s get something.”
When we got to the fire she went into a small cooler and pulled out some hotdogs. She pulled out one and then handed me the bag.
I took one out, not caring to ask what kind of hotdogs they were, and took the stick she passed to me.
“Thanks.” I said, knowing my stomach was very pleased at her.
“No, problem,” Sam grinned. “Those boys are going to try and get you drunk, so watch out.” She teased as she roasted her hotdog over the fire.
“No, problem there,” I told her, watching my hotdog over the fire. “I won’t drink anything.”
“Yeah, they just like to have a good time.” Sam laughed and pulled her hotdog back. She touched it and then put it back over the fire. “But you should have at least one drink. We have some really good stuff.”
“I’m fine.” I told her and pulled my hotdog out from the fire. I took a bite hoping that it was done, but not caring. I really didn’t want to have this conversation.
“Good?” Sam asked and pulled her hotdog back.
I shook my head.
“Here Bonnie,” I turned and saw Matt standing over me with a drink in his hand. “Got one for you.”
I stared at it, getting ready to say no thank you, but decided not to. I would just hold the drink in my hand an act like I was drinking it.
“Thanks.” I replied and eyed the drink.
“So, what school do you go to?” Matt asked sitting down by me. I saw, from the corner of my eyes, Sam getting up.
I told him and looked to see were Sam was going. She walked over to a group of people and starting talking to them.
“I know someone who goes there.” Matt stated. My eyes looked back at him and I smiled.
“Yeah, small world,” I bit my lip and looked down at my drink.
“I can’t remember her name.” He laughed. “Oh well.”
I turned my head to see if I still saw Sam and I did. She was now talking to a girl with long light brown hair that held natural looking golden highlights.
The girl looked very beautiful, even from where I was sitting. She moved her eyes from off of Sam and stared at me.
Her eyes were golden. I gasped.
I knew those golden eyes. They looked just like Jay’s.
I wasn’t sure if I should get up to run or act as if nothing was wrong, so I could make a slow retreat.
“What’s wrong with you?” Matt asked he was staring at me, worriedly.
“Nothing,” I told him, choosing to go with my second thought. “But I think I need to get going.”
“Oh come on.” Matt frowned. “I haven’t even gotten the chance to flirt with you yet.”
I bit my bottom lip and looked back at the girl with golden eyes. She was talking to Sam now, who would look over at me every so often.
I didn’t know if they knew there was a pixie here or not. My eyes stared back at Matt who looked like he was trying to get my attention.
“Bonnie,” Matt smiled. “Are you sure you are okay?”
“I’m sure.” I told him. “But I should really get going.”
“Let me get you some water.” Matt said, starting to walk away. “Don’t go anywhere.”
“Matt.” I called out watching him leave me.
I looked over to see if I saw Sam still, but didn’t. I could still see the girl with golden eyes, but she was now making out with some guy.
“Matt seems to really like you, Bonnie.”
I turned and saw Sam staring at me. Her skin looked pale, there were dark circles around her eyes and her skin looked lifeless.
When had that girl touched her?
“Sam, you want to come with me?” I asked, not liking the fact that a pixie was here. I thought that maybe if I could get her away from here she would be okay.
“Go where.” Sam asked, licking her lips and then looking all around. “It’s a party going on here.”
“How about we go get some more food?” I asked and frowned.
I could see from the corner of my eyes, the girl with golden haired streaks, looking at me, while she kissed some guy. I didn’t like the fact that she was taking the guy life force, but there was nothing I could really do.
The forbidden four did it all the time, but seeing it happen right before my eyes, was something very different.
“So, tell me about this boyfriend of yours.” Sam said, suddenly.
I turned my head and looked at her.
“He’s not my boyfriend.” I told her standing up, straight.
This party was really turning into something that didn’t sit well with me. I knew I shouldn’t have come out here. I wouldn’t have come out here, if it had been for Jay’s mark.
“Are you sure?” Sam questioned, a smile forming on her lips. “Because Jennifer tells us otherwise.”
I paused and stared at her. I folded my arms and tried to look unfazed by her words.
“Jennifer?” I asked, trying to play stupid. I needed to find a way out of here.
My eyes briefly look over to the pixie and I saw that she was done making out with the guy. She was now holding onto another guy hand and was still staring at me.
Was she Jennifer?
“Don’t act stupid.” Sam said. “I like you. I see why he does as well. It’s just too bad.”
“That you’re going to kill me.” I whispered. “Is she controlling you?”
She may have been using her dust on her. I wasn’t sure if she was or if she was just fooling me from the beginning. But I was sure that I was stupid for even coming here. I just hoped the forbidden four would be able to come here soon.
“She’s my maker.” Sam smiled, and then looked over to the pixie girl who was working over to us.
“I didn’t know you could make a pixie.” I let out, not sure if I really wanted to know that bit of information.
If I believed that there was no way for me to be like them, I could forever hold back my feeling anything for Jay or Leon.
But if there was a possible, I don’t know what I would do.
“You can be turned, but you….”
“She’s been marked, Sam.” The pixie girl said, cutting her off. For some odd reason I got the feeling that the pixie girl didn’t want me to know how I could be a pixie. “And as I told you over there, you can’t touch her.”
“Jennifer wants her dead.” Sam let out. I soon noticed that Matt and James were standing by her and a guy that the pixie girl was kissing was standing by her. Everyone else at the party started to leave.
They looked like they didn’t even noticed what was going on around them. I didn’t know what was going on or what was going too happened next.
“I don’t care.” The pixie girl laughed. “Tell her I said that. I’m sure she’ll understand. We go way back.” There was something behind her voice that made me shake. “It’s a good thing I stopped to have some fun before going to see my brother.”
I stared at the pixie girl.
Brother?
Is this Dora? I wasn’t sure why thought that, but something about her eyes told me this was Jay’s sister.
“She told me to get her here and to let them take care of her.” Sam let out.
“I’m going to love taking care of her.” Matt let out, licking his lips. His eyes bored into mine.
I opened my mouth say something anything that came to my mind, but the pixie girl cut me off.
“Touch her and die.” She smiled.
I stared at her, briefly. I didn’t understand why she even cared if I died or not. Even if she was Jay’s sister, there was no way she knew much about me or Jay’s ‘relationship’.
“We out number you,” James grinned.
Before I could blink, I felt a rush of wind blow past me. I then noticed James was on the ground. He looked dead.
I gasped.
“Now we’re even.” The pixie girl smiled, widely.
“He’s not dead.” Sam shook out. She looked slightly frightened.
“No, he’s lucky I just don’t have a lighter on me.” She replied back, eyeing her nails. “Now why don’t you take him and leave, before I improvise.”
“Jennifer will kill us if we don’t kill her.” Sam began, but the pixie cut her off.
“Bitch, I will kill you.” The pixie stated, with a dark look. “Do you want to die today or tomorrow? I’m giving you a choice. I don’t normally do that.”
From the looks of it Sam and Matt wanted to die later. They picked up James and left.
I stood there for a few moments not knowing what to say.
“You’re lucky you had that mark.” I heard the pixie began with a sigh. I turned to look at her and saw her golden eyes were piecing into my eyes. “If Jay hadn’t marked you, I wouldn’t have done anything if they tried to kill you.”
She had to have said that. Now I knew I would have to say sorry to Jay for being mad that he marked me.
“Are you Dora?” I asked feeling slightly light headed.
“He talked about me.” She beamed. “I always thought he hated me.” Dora joked.
“Jay has told me a few things.” I spoke, trying to push the thought of James on the ground from my head. I ran a hand through my hair and fell out. But someone caught me, before I hit the ground.
“You okay?”
It was Leon.
I looked up and saw him smiling at me. I wanted to cry. I wrapped my arms around him, just wanting to feel someone close to me.
I felt his arms go around me, pulling me closer.
“It’s okay.” I heard me tell me, his hand rubbing my back. “It’s okay.”
I didn’t know that I had begun to cry until I felt him pull back and wrap my eyes. I felt like a child. I hated that. Even with almost being killed, crying about it made me feel little.
“Bonnie,” I turned and saw Jay staring at Leon. He briefly took his eyes off of him to look at me only to look at Leon again. “She’s going to die for this.”
I opened my mouth to tell him how sorry I was, but Dora began to speak.
“It’s so good to see you again, bro.” Dora laughed. “And you guys as well.”
Dora’s eyes looked over Nate, Leon, and Damon. Her eyes stayed the longest on Damon, but not too long, for anyone to notice, unless they were paying attention.
“It’s good to see you again.” Leon stated when no one else spoke. “Thank you for….”
“Saving Bonnie,” Jay said, cutting Leon off.
Leon lips went into a small half smile and nodded.
“No problem.” Dora chuckled. “It’s not like its everyday my brother gets a pet. Well you’ve never had a pet have you?” She then added as an afterthought. “Oh, this is my pet, Gerry.”
The red-haired guy, standing next to her, who had been so quiet, that I had briefly forgotten him, nodded.
“We should take Bonnie home.” Jay said, for some odd reason I felt when he said we he really meant I.
“We can meet you back at the house.” Damon smiled. He looked at me slightly and out of the corner of my eyes I saw Dora eyeing him then me. “I’m sure all of us and catch up until then.”
“Yeah,” Nate agreed. “Great idea, we all need to get Jennifer, because I’m not going to miss out on another date because of her.”
“Something does need to be done about her.” Dora smiled. “Drop your pet off Jay, because there is a lot we need to talk about.”
“Like what?” I asked, being nosy. I already knew so much, I might as well know it all.
“Not important.” Dora smiled.
“I’ll be the judge of that.” I told her, firmly.
Dora lips grinned widely at me and then looked at the forbidden four.
“Now I’m starting to see why you guys really like her.” Dora laughed, licking her lips, eyeing me. “Maybe I
can get a taste later.”
“Maybe not,” Jay responded, grabbing my hand. “Let’s go.”
Jay pulled me away from everyone, but before we left I caught a look in Leon’s eyes.
A look of….longing?
I wanted to see if what I saw was real or not, but Jay’s hand pulled me, keeping me from staying and talking to Leon.
He kept pulling me until we were out of the forest. I looked around and saw the corner store that I had meant Sam at.
“You didn’t drive here, did you?” I asked, dryly.
“No, but if you wait a minute, I’ll have a car to use.” He answered. “You will wait, right? I mean I won’t come back here and find out your gone, because someone who seems more appealing is here.”
“What are you trying to say?” I questioned, folding my arms. If he was trying to accused me of something he could just come on out and say it.
“Do you remember what I told you about Leon?” He asked moving closer to me.
“Which part?” I asked keeping my arms folded. “The part about how he loved Elizabeth or the part how he would never love me?”
“Look, I only said that because….”
“Jay, right now, I’m not worrying about my love life.” I said, feeling slightly hurt and bothered by this conversation. “I have almost died twice so far and I realize this has all happened after I began to talk to you guys.”
“Bonnie, I don’t want you to be put into danger, because of me.” He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. “But I don’t won’t you out of my life, call me selfish, but I still want to get to know you and if this is what it takes to be with you so be it.”
I stared at him, running his words though my mind.
This was different. I would have thought he would have said anything, but that. He really couldn’t be serious when he said he wanted to get to know me. He just couldn’t.
He was Jay. He went out with girls then dumped them. He never stuck around to get to know them.
“That won’t change the fact that I’m in danger because of you.” I responded not looking at him. “Besides, you are always with a different girl. I know that. I understand that.”
I felt him put his hand under my chin and lift my chin up, so I could look into his eyes.
“Bonnie, I don’t want you to know that or understand that.” He began his voice very serious. “I want you….no I need you to change that.”
