“Thank you!” She yelled and jumped quickly out of the car, as if she knew I had something to say about him buying her the frozen yogurt.
“I thought we were going to get breakfast.” I said looking at my phone and seeing that it was more like lunch time.
“We can still go, after she’s done. If you want.”
“I’m fine.” I laughed. “I don’t want to break you.” I added as a joke.
“Very funny,” Leon smiled, beginning to walk over by a tree.
I followed him and moved some hair from my face. The hot air had blown it on my face.
“So,” I said.
“So,” He replied.
I rolled my eyes.
“What did you guys talk about after what happened the other day?” I asked, wanting to know they had dealt with it. I also wanted to know more about what would have happened if Luria hadn’t called to me and him, but I was going to save that for later.
Leon’s eyes turned angry suddenly and I felt taken back.
“Leon, what’s wrong?” I asked feeling like something was off.
His grey eyes stared at me with this look I couldn’t read. He seemed to stare past me for a moment almost as if he was staring at someone else.
“Fairies, that’s what’s wrong.” He answered shaking his head and then he looked off at Luria. “Luria’s a smart little girl.”
“What do you mean by fairies is what’s wrong?” I asked, ignoring his other comment.
“There are too many killings happening.” Leon stated his voice becoming soft. “Fairies protect humans and just because pixies have a treaty with them does not mean they won’t make sure the pixies are living by their end.”
“Is that why Dora is here?” I questioned my mind becoming blank.
“Yes, the King and Queen want to make sure we stop this before they come here. And if they come the Fairy Queen won’t be too far beyond.” Leon sighed. He didn’t seem to like that idea.
“I thought fairies were good.” I stated not understanding why them coming here was a bad idea. “I mean couldn’t we use the help.”
“Fairies are good, but they do things a whole lot different than pixies.” Leon began running a hand through his hair. “If they come here they will make sure all of this is put to a stop. They won’t care who had anything to do with it and most likely Jay and the rest of us will get blamed. Plus we have no proof Jennifer is doing this.”
“You could tell them.” I said wanting so badly for all of this to end. “They have to believe you.”
“They are fairies. They won’t believe anything unless we have proof. If one of my brothers tried to say anything to them they’ll think their lying.”
“Why?” I asked, not understanding how they were good.
Here was all this killing going on and yet the fairies had done nothing. Yet the forbidden four, who were pixies, had done so much.
“The hate between fairies and pixies runs very deep. There are still so many unspoken things that happened during that war. Still so many of the pixies and the fairies, even with the treaty, that hate one another.” Leon tone held something to it. He spoke as if he had been there during the war and he understood why they would hate one another.
This made me want to know if he had been there.
“How old are you?” I suddenly asked not understanding why this question felt so important to me.
“Seventeen.” He laughed.
“Why do I get the feeling you have been seventeen longer then I’ve been alive?” I asked feeling my heart race.
I had always felt like he was older than what he said he was, but put that into question only because Jay acted like he was still around my age.
“Trust your feelings.” Leon whispered leaning into me. “I’m finding out they tend to be always right.”
“True,” I whispered back, not sure how we both got into this position. I shook my head and tried to regain myself. “What about everyone else?”
“Damon is eighteen, Nate is seventeen, and Jay will be celebrating is eighteen birthday, tomorrow.” Leon told me easily laying his head back on the tree.
“Wait, his birthday is tomorrow!” I yelled. “Why didn’t he tell me?”
I was shocked. I would have thought Jay would have some kind of huge party and went around telling everyone his birthday was coming up.
Leon closed his eyes and briefly opened one up, looking right at Luria. I looked over at her two and saw she was still in line talking to one of her friends.
“He’s been very busy protecting you.” Leon smiled shyly, looking at me through half way opened eyes.
I blushed and hated myself for it.
“Yeah, well are you guys doing anything for his birthday?” I asked, knowing that soon I needed to get back on the topic of Jennifer.
“Dora might be planning something, so be careful.” Leon warned and put his head on the tree. “I hate birthdays.”
“I would too if I wasn’t aging anymore.” I smiled.
He smiled back, looking beautiful.
I had always felt Leon had this look of pure innocence. He looked like the guy you could bring home to mom and dad. They would love him, but Jay well I already knew what my mom thought of him. Something told me most parents would get a bad feeling of him as well.
“So, anyway,” I began, getting ready to talk about Jennifer. “We have to find Jennifer.” I whispered. “She can’t just be killing people to get back at Jay. There must be more to it, like you said before.”
Leon shook his head. “I know, but we don’t have any proof.”
“Maybe we can try to catch her in the act or something.” I let out. “We have to think up something. We can’t let people keep dying, Leon.”
Leon eyes looked up at me. His eyes were so beautiful. I was almost caught in a daze just staring into them. I wondered what he looked like when his eyes where golden and not that beautiful shade of grey.
“Believe me, Bonnie, I know.” Leon whispered, his hand moving some hair from my face. “Believe me, I know.”
I felt a slight tingling run through me when his fingers brushed through my hair. I eyed his pale hand and felt an urge to touch him.
My eyes stared into his eyes and I almost felt faint.
He looked back at me, his grey eyes intense, and gave me a half smile. He pulled back suddenly and a saw a blush came across his cheeks, it was almost as if he just realized what he did.
“Sorry,” He whispered, then ran a hand through his hair. “So, what do you think we should do?”
I wanted to tell him that it was okay. I wanted to say that I had liked the feel of his skin when it brushed against my hair.
It was so odd how he and Jay acted so differently, for them to have been so close for so long. They were like night and day.
If he had been Jay, he would have moved the pieces of my hair and his fingers would have run down my neck, slowly trying to send shivers across my skin. He would want more of me and wouldn’t be afraid to show it.
But Leon, he seemed okay with just a look. His eyes could do things that would make me feel things that no one’s hand could have ever done.
I shook past the need to reach out to him and tell him that whatever he wanted to do was okay with me.
“I don’t know.” I said, trying to shake my thought from my head. “Have you talked with everyone about this? I mean what does Dora think?”
Leon laughed. “Dora was more interested in you then finding out how to stop Jennifer.”
“Why would she care about me, when we have a crazy pixie out there?” I asked not understanding.
“Because of Jay,” Leon let out. He pushed his head on the back of the tree and moved away from the sun.
I sighed.
Jay was truly becoming the pain in my side. Yet I knew some part of me liked it.
“Leon, what do you think we should do?” I asked wanting to get back on topic.
“We have to hunt her down.” Leon murmured. “And ma
ke sure she doesn’t hurt anyone else.” Leon looked away from me and at Luria who was now walking over to us.
I stared at Luria as she began to walk over to us. “You got the swirl.” I grinned, trying to make it seem like nothing was wrong.
“Yup,” Luria beamed. “We both love the swirl. Two flavors for one.”
Luria passed me my frozen yogurt and began to lick hers. I licked mine and I loved the taste.
“You sure you didn’t want any.” She asked him, with a shy smile. “It’s really good.” Leon stared at the frozen yogurt and shrugged his shoulders.
“I’ll have a lick.” He said, grabbing my hand and pulling my frozen yogurt to his lips.
I stood there frozen as his lips took a taste of the swirl of chocolate and vanilla. When he pulled back my eyes were staring at his lips as he licked them clean.
My body shivered and I turned my head back onto my yogurt. It now seemed very fascinating.
“That was very good.” Leon murmured. I wasn’t sure if he was looking at me or not, but I just couldn’t bring myself to look at him.
“I told you.” I heard my niece let out.
My eyes briefly looked her over and I saw that she was looking at me weirdly.
I sighed, knowing she would want to know more about what just happened.
“What are you two doing?” I knew that voice.
My eyes turned and I saw Jay standing right behind us.
He didn’t look happy.
Chapter 19
Let’s talk about us
I don’t know how much time passed by as he stared right into my eyes. I knew I shouldn’t feel as if I was betraying him. He wasn’t my boyfriend, but for whatever reason it felt like he thought he was.
“We were having a good time, until you came along.” I frowned.
“Having a good time?” He repeated my words with anger. “Pet…..”
“Who are you?” I heard Luria asked. I had forgotten she was with us.
Jay eyes looked down at Luria, as if he too didn’t know she was there.
“Jay.” He answered, softy.
“You’re Leon’s brother.” Luria smiled. “I’m Luria.”
“Nice you meet you.” Jay let out as if he was trying to calm himself down.
I didn’t care if he was mad at me or not. He had some nerve coming over here acting like he was my boyfriend.
“You too,” Luria grinned and licked her yogurt.
“Leon, can you take us home.” I asked, ignoring Jay eyes on me.
“Yeah,”
“I’m not ready to go home.” Luria murmured.
“Yes, Bonnie.” Jay grinned, folding his arms. “She’s not ready to go home and I’m not ready to let you go.”
“Listen you jack-as…butt, why don’t you just leave?” I almost yelled. I then looked over to Luria. “Your mom should be home by now.”
She just rolled her eyes and licked her yogurt.
“I can take Luria home.” Leon offered. “It wouldn’t be a problem.”
I stared at Leon, feeling betrayed. How could he say that? Now I would have to talk to Jay.
“I have to stay with Luria.” I murmured.
“No, you don’t.” Luria grinned. It seemed like the little thing had it out for me. “Leon saved your life. I would be safe with him.”
“What if your mom isn’t home?” I asked, using my last attempt to get out of this.
“She’ll be home, just like you said.” Luria smiled, widely. “Let’s go, Leon.”
Luria grabbed his hand and pulled him off. I wasn’t sure if I should feel sorry for the traitor.
“Why were you out with him?”
“Why do you care?” I retorted.
“You know why.”
I stared at him; not knowing if I would like or hate where this conversation was headed. “Humor me.” I told him, the same way he had when he had drove me home.
He walked closer to me and his hands rested in my hair. “If I have to humor you on the subject, I’m not doing something right.”
His lips hovered over mine and I wasn’t too sure if I should move or not. This felt right, yet I wasn’t completely sure. I was just with Leon, his brother, and we were on the verge of flirting with each other.
How can I stand here and let Jay kiss me without knowing my feelings for either of them? I stepped back from Jay and moved my hair from my eyes.
“Have you found Jennifer, yet?” I asked, wanting to move on from whatever was happening between us.
“Fuck Jennifer.” He growled, apparently he wasn’t going to move on from the subject.
I laughed and folded my arms glaring at him. “I’m sorry, that I am worried about my life and those I care about.”
He frowned and shook his head.
“You can’t avoid this forever.” He murmured.
Wanna bet.
“Did you?” I asked, looking up at the sky.
“If we had found her Leon would have told you.” He frowned. He could be such a smart ass at times. “But we did find out that she was at Angelica’s house.”
“What?”
“She’s been asking Angelica for information about you.”
“When did you find this out?” I asked feeling like I was going too passed out.
“This morning,” He began with a growl. “I was going to let Leon know about it, but then I saw he was gone. Then I thought I should see you first, but when I went out to find you, I saw that you were with him.”
“He wanted to buy me breakfast.” I sighed, wanting him to stop acting jealous and get back to my friend. “I was hungry and I thought why not.”
“I didn’t know sharing ice cream was a part of breakfast.” He frowned. His blue eyes were blazing and I thought I saw a flicker of gold starting to show.
“It was frozen yogurt.” I told him, wanting to laugh. I really didn’t want him to get upset at a time like this. “It was completely innocence.”
“Pet, even nice guys know what they’re doing with a beautiful girl.” He replied, shaking his head.
I narrowed my eyes. “Are you trying to imply something?”
“Do I need to say it point blank?” He sounded upset and I wasn’t sure if I was happy about it.
Most of the time when he was upset, I thought it was funny, because most of the time it was because of me. But now it felt like him being upset was some kind of cover for him being hurt.
“How did you find out about Angelica?” I asked. I was avoiding the conversation. I just couldn’t think about it right now. There were so many things going on, that thinking about me, he or even Leon would drive me crazy.
“I found out from Damon.” He whispered.
“How would Damon know that?” I asked, hoping it wasn’t what I thought it was. If he was still seeing her, I was going to kick his butt.
“Apparently, he is still seeing her.” Before I could yell, he added. “Don’t worry; I’ll kick his ass if you want.”
“Don’t worry, I have it covered!” I screamed. “He knows what he is doing to her. He is messing up her mind, stealing her soul, and brainwashing her to do what he wants.”
“It’s not that serious.” He let out with a frown.
“What do you mean? Jay, he’s stealing her soul!”
“It’s her energy.” Jay yelled back. “And it’s really none of your business who your friend wants to fuck.”
“It is if she doesn’t know that her life is at danger for doing so.” I frowned, wanting to scream.
“Is that why you don’t want to be with me?” He asked, staring right into my eyes. “You think I’m a monster who will steal your very soul.”
I opened my mouth then closed it. I didn’t think he was a monster.
“Jay, don’t make this about us.” I whispered. “This is about Angelica and the fact that your brother is still seeing her.”
“It’s the only way we can live.” He reasoned. “You think he wants to hurt her. He cares about her and he knows eve
ry time he wants to kiss her he can’t, because if he doesn’t stop himself she will die. He’ll take her life and it will be because he is really a monster who took the very soul of the only girl he cares about. Do you think he wants to think about that every time he’s near her?”
Something told me that Damon was long gone from this conversation. But I didn’t know how to answer him.
I bit my lip and thought of anything to say.
“Jay, what about her,” I began words just coming from my head right to my mouth. “Don’t you think she thinks about that to? Don’t you think she ways her every option and tries to cover what’s right for her. Maybe she does like him way more then she thought, but she doesn’t know where her heart really is. So, how can you ask her to give up her life force?”
“He’s not asking her to.” He whispered. “He would never hurt her.”
“But then he would have to cheat on her.” I blinked, feeling tears in my eyes.
“There are other ways.”
I wanted to ask him like what, but I felt my phone vibrated. I looked down at the phone and I didn’t know the number.
“Answer it.” He frowned and pulled away from me.
I shook my head and opened my phone.
“Hello,”
“Is this his pet?” I heard Dora voice asked on the other end.
I frowned and wished I hadn’t answered the call.
“Yes, Dora?” I asked, being to wonder just how she got my number.
“You and Jay need to get here quick.” She told me, sounding like she was in a hurry.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, looking at Jay. He seemed to be able to hear her every word. I could tell by the way he eyes looked.
“It’s about Jennifer.” Dora whispered. “Now get here, quickly.”
She hung up and I closed my phone.
“My sister can be a pain sometimes.” Jay sighed and grabbed my hand.
“So, you did hear her.” I said, knowing she wasn’t talking very loud.
“Yeah,”
“I am differently making a mental note of that.”
It didn’t take very long for us to get to his house or rather his mansion. I was so nervous on the way there that I didn’t say anything. Even when he turned the radio to a station that I hated and made me listen to a song that made me want to roll my eyes.
