Chapter 6
Goodbyes were swift, but heartfelt. Even Cayden got a begrudging nod from Liam, which he smirked at. Skylar rolled her eyes.
Those two are never going to be friends, they're just going to needle each other until the end of time itself.
She pulled each of them in, thanking them for their help, and in his case for his concern. They each wished her well and departed, noticing that she was looking a bit tired.
Liam smiled at her when the door closed, "Why don't you head up first? I've just got some quick thinking I need to do." He kissed her forehead, "I'll be up before you know it."
She entered the bedroom and got changed, laying down underneath the covers. She stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, trying to will the thoughts in her head to go away. She started thinking over the property, how ideal it was for the both of them. "Come to bed already Liam," She said to herself, "I need to ask you about this."
This is a big move for the both of us, I can't make it alone.
Before long, he walked through the door, hair slightly disheveled like he'd been running his hands through it. He looked up at her and smiled tiredly, "Sorry, just... Been doing a bit of reading."
She sat up, "Are you ok?"
Liam groaned lightly as he sank into bed next to her, "I am now."
"You're very sweet." She smiled at him, "I need to talk to you about something."
"Something good or something bad?"
"Something good," She shrugged, "At least I think it's something good."
He sat up as well, "Well go on, what is it?"
She took a deep breath, "I want to make an offer on the property, I think it's the best move for us."
He thought for a second, before nodding his head, "If you think it's the right move, then I trust you."
"Wait, really?" She raised an eyebrow, "Just like that?"
He snorted, "Of course just like that, you think I'd have left you to take care of it if I didn't think you were capable?"
She chuckled, "Fair point I suppose."
"One thing though, pay cash. It impresses them, you'll close much faster." He idly stretched his tired muscles, "Once that's done, I'll call up some contractors. They'll build the office building you want to your exact needs. The sky's the limit."
She smirked, "This is just routine to you huh?"
"Yep," He kissed her lightly, "More fun with someone else though." He placed a hand on her stomach, "Speaking of, I need you to promise me something."
"Yes?"
He looked at her seriously, "Please, take it easy until the baby comes. I don't want... I can't have anything happen to you, I couldn't take it."
She covered his hand with her own, "I promise, I'll keep the baby and me safe." She flicked his nose, "I'm not going to be some shut in housewife though, I want to still help where I can."
He chuckled, "No complaints there."
Liam lay his head back on his pillow, "I'll have to start interviewing candidates soon, I need a good Personal Assistant." He perked his head up, "Ever since someone left the job."
She laughed, "I don't see you complaining about the rest of this!"
He drew her in closer, "No, no you do not."
She sighed, "You're right though, you'll definitely need one soon." She grinned, "I'll help you!"
He arched an eyebrow, "Help me? Help me how?"
"I'll help you look for candidates! Assist with interviews, that sort of thing."
"I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself."
"Well yeah..." She smirked, "But you hardly have the best track record."
"Well... I mean..."
She chuckled, "One just wanted to sleep with you, and the other is currently carrying your superhuman hybrid child." She patted his shoulder, "I love you, but I'd rather you didn't go three for three."
Liam laughed, "Alright, alright, message received. I'll be glad to have your help." He kissed her cheek, "And just for peace of mind, I'll hire a man this time."
"Have you looked in the mirror? That'll hardly stop things."
He smirked, "Are... Are you jealous?"
"No!" She crossed her arms, "Maybe a little."
"Well then, that begs the question..." He grasped her chin, turning her face to his, "Have you looked in the mirror?" He pressed his lips against hers, slowly, deeply, pouring every ounce of his want into their kiss. He pulled back and marveled at her, "You are so beautiful, like the forest in fall. So amazing, like the feeling of the air after a lightning strike." He stared deeply into her eyes, showing her the depth of his love, "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen or dreamt of."
She threw herself against him, their lips smashing together much more roughly this time, their need a burning weight in their bodies. How wonderful it felt to be desired, how incredible it felt to be desired by them. Her, who gave him everything he ever needed and made his life one worthwhile. Him, who protected her when she was in danger and was shaping his life to spend it with her.
Such desire could burn, and the flames of passion were powerful.
He rolled over, putting her beneath him. They pulled back, and she looked up at him with heavy lidded eyes, "Go ahead, please."
He palmed her breast through her top, Sky arching into his touch. He chuckled, a low, rumbling sound as he latched his mouth to her neck, biting down lightly. She keened at the feeling, his tongue lathing over to sooth the marks.
He dragged his hand down her body, over her soft stomach and down to her waistband, waiting until he saw her nod before dipping his hand deeper. He slid his fingers through damp curls, finding her center and pushing deeper. She moaned in his ear when she felt two of his fingers inside her, her breathing stuttering when he began to pump them in and out. She grabbed the back of his head and drew him back towards her lips, her breathy moans and high-pitched keens being eagerly swallowed by him.
He was hard, painfully so, and she could feel it. He didn't have to ask before she dug her teeth lightly into his ear lobe and whispered, "Do it."
He freed himself, groaning at the feeling of relief and taking himself by the base, guiding his hardness to her core. He pushed forwards slowly, feeling her velvet heat around him and almost melting him on the spot. He began to pump his hips, looking down and seeing the glorious sight of her chest heaving to his movements. She moaned and breathed harshly, "F-fuck!" She reached a hand around him, grabbing what she could of his back and trying to push him deeper, which he was all too eager to oblige.
Their movements became sloppy, the meeting of their bodies becoming increasingly desperate, and with a final thrust and a grunt of her name, he spilled himself inside her. She squeezed her legs around him, not letting him get away for a second, until finally they collapsed together.
"So..." He said, after a few minutes of catching his breath, "Do you still feel jealous?"
She giggled, "No..." She bit her lip, "But if it ends like that I could pretend if you wanted."
He laughed, not dismissing the idea, "Well, I guess we can see." He turned to her, "I love you."
She smiled, running a hand down his cheek, "I love you too."

Skylar paced around the room, the phone clutched in a death grip. She breathed in and out, slowly exhaling and tapping her forehead. "This is it Sky. Time to make the call."
She dialed the number for the realtor and held it to her ear, exhaling one final time.
"Hello this is Marni, how can I help you?"
Sky smiled nervously as she replied, "Hi Marni, this is Skylar. I was inquiring about the property you showed me..."
She could hear the woman stand, "Oh yes, Skylar! Of course, what did you want to know?"
She squared her shoulders and stood tall, "I was hoping that the property was still available, and if so I would like to make a formal offer."
"That sounds fantastic! I will have to get your details so we can prepare for a payment system..."
"No need." Sky smiled at the confidence this gav
e her, "We would like to make a cash offer."
"Oh..." She smiled at Marni's stunned silence, "Oh, well that does make this easier." She cleared her throat, "Give me two hours to organize a contract and I will send it to you, does that work?"
"Absolutely, I look forward to doing business with you Marni."
Marni chuckled, "I assure you ma'am, the pleasure is all mine."

Two hours passed and just as promised, the contract was faxed through. A signature was signed quickly and the contract was sent back through, a grin coming to her face as the realization hit. She dashed out of the room, running down the hall to Liam's office. She opened the door in a hurry, his head shooting up in surprise.
"Skylar?" He quirked an eyebrow, "What's the rush?"
She bounded over and took his hands in hers, grinning widely, "I did it! We have it!"
He smirked, "It? What do we have?"
Skylar rolled her eyes, "Don't be like that, you know exactly what I'm talking about!" She shook him in her excitement, "I made the offer! The contract's been signed and put through to them."
He squeezed her hand, "It's a good feeling isn't it? Closing on a deal like that, just feeling the pressure lift off your shoulders." He chuckled, "If you're anything like me you can't wait for the next one."
She laughed, her shoulders shaking in mirth, "Maybe that can wait, I'm supposed to be taking it easy after all."
"Probably a good idea." He turned around, "I'm going to make a call to the contractor, see if I can organize construction as soon as possible."
Sky placed a kiss to the side of his head, "Thank you for making this happen."
He shook his head, "I didn't make this happen." He looked at her, a proud expression on his face, "You organized the meeting, you made the call, you signed the contract. Everything is possible because of you, and I don't want you to forget that, or downplay it."
He wrapped his arm around her hip, pulling her closer, "You're incredible, I want you to remember that."
Turning back around, he put the phone to his ear. "Yes, hello, this is Liam Conway, I was inquiring about some construction I wanted done."
His voice drifted away as she looked around the office, the shelves stacked high with books, everything in its right place. Finally, her eyes shifted to the desk, and she couldn't help the thoughts that came to her then.
She thought back to their first time, the passion, the heat. She smirked, remembering the way he'd damn near devoured her on the spot. The thoughts sent a burning fire through her core, her thighs rubbing together to stave off the need. She stepped between him and the desk, sitting on the edge and staring at him. His eyes met hers, and despite his best efforts he stumbled in the middle of his sentence. She placed her phone down on the end table next to the desk, opening her legs in the process.
He smirked, rapidly closing the deal and giving his thanks, before ending the call. He sat back, her foot idly toying with his leg, "You're living dangerously aren't you?"
She stood, sweeping her hand behind her and brushing everything to the ground, "You don't know the half of it." She grabbed his collar and tugged, his surprise leaving him unable to do anything but obey. She crashed her lips against his, her hand brushing through his hair. She pulled back, breathing heavily, "Remember your old desk? Where we had our first time?"
He nodded, "How could I forget?"
She smirked, "I want you to fuck me just like you did then."
Liam growled, "Now how could I deny you that?" He pushed himself against her, her body coming to lean back against the desk. He tore her top open, the rush of cold air on her skin making her gasp, her nipples pebbling immediately. He leaned in hungrily, his lips closing over her breast, his teeth lightly tugging on her nipple.
Her arms were wrapped firmly around him, her head thrown back in ecstasy. She groaned, a sound more animal than human in its passion, "God, please Liam, more!"
He was all too happy to oblige, his hands coming down to undo his belt. He freed himself and sank himself into her depths in the same movement, the sudden feeling of being filled almost too much for her to bare. He placed one hand around the back of her neck lightly, ensuring that she could look nowhere but directly into his eyes. He ground his hips against hers, her walls clutching him tightly, almost as if her body didn't want his to leave.
The room was heavy with the sound of their coupling, moans and groans giving way to light swears as they each began to edge towards their ends. She was the first to reach it, her mouth opening in a silent scream, her body tightening around his to an absurd degree.
He swore, the tightness too much for him to take, and he thrust a final two times before slamming himself deep, her body taking everything he had to give her. They came down from their high, looking at each other and chuckling to themselves, "Was that good enough for you?"
She rolled her eyes at his smirking face, "I'd say so, yeah."

After Skylar told him she was going to lie down for a nap, tired from the call and their... other activities, Liam took to cleaning the office. He payed particular attention to the desk, wiping up any evidence of their activities before placing everything back on top. He looked at the finished result and sighed, "Now I'm never going to get any work done when I sit here."
He chuckled, thinking about how insatiable they both could be, it was a wonder there was anywhere left in the house they hadn't christened.
He sat down with a groan, picking up his phone and dialing Brett's number, no better time than the present to find out what he could. The phone rang for only a few seconds before he picked up, sounding much more tired than Liam would have expected.
"Hi Liam, how can I help you?" The sound of his palm rubbing down his face was clearly audible.
"Brett? Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, don't worry about me. Just chasing down some leads, been at it for a while now." He chuckled, "Don't worry, your money's being well spent. I'm getting close to something."
Liam hummed happily, "Anything I should know immediately?"
He cleared his throat, "I have something, but if it turns out to be true then you won't like it. Skylar especially won't like it."
"Just be honest with me Brett, it hasn't failed us yet."
"Alright," He flipped open a notepad, "I found some inconsistencies with her family history, couldn't find any definite ties between her and anyone more than two generations ago. Then I did a bit more digging..." He sniffed, "I think Skylar might have been adopted."
Liam's eyes widened, "Adopted? But... that can't be..."
"Like I said, still looking into it. Wouldn't recommend telling her before I know for sure. I'll try and find out who the biological parents are, build up as much history as I can if it pans out." He sighed, "For the record Liam, I'm sorry about this. But worse things could have been uncovered, I'll be on the look out for any of those though."
He chuckled, a weight still heavy in his chest, "Thanks Brett. I'll call in soon." He ended the call, sinking heavily into his chair. He ran a hand over his face, "Jesus, if this is true Skylar's going to be devastated." He looked to the side, seeing her phone still lying on the end table.
Her father.
He reached over, swiping into her home screen, "Come on Sky, you need a password at least. I'll let you know later."
He looked through her contacts, hitting call on the one marked "Dad". He held the phone to his ear, hearing the call ring through, the tone repeating over and over until it clicked off, the bored recording telling him to leave a message.
"Mr. Moore, this is Liam Conway. I suggest you return my call, we need to talk about Skylar." He stated his personal phone number, "I hope to hear from you soon." He clicked the call off, putting the phone down next to him.
There. Maybe hearing a man calling from her phone will be enough to get your interest for once.
He leaned back in his chair, sighing deeply. "Skylar deserves so much more than him." A knock on his door broug
ht him out of his thoughts, turning his head, he noticed Michael, looking into his office with a hint of apprehension.
Michael raised his hand in greeting, "Hey, are you alright?"
Liam waved him in, "Yeah. Yeah just thinking, what brings you here?"
He walked in and leaned on the desk, wiping one hand when it came away damp from the cleaning. "You know, just wanted to drop in, let you know how the pack is going. Figured you'd wanna be updated."
He nodded, "You figured right, anything I should know?"
"Nothing too major, everyone's settling pretty well." He shrugged, "Occasionally one or two get rowdy, especially about the whole issue of the witches, but that's easy to handle." He scoffed, "Hell, a few months ago I'd have probably been one of them."
"But you're not, and that's why you are where you are." He smiled, "Thanks for the update, one less thing to worry about."
"Uh... Actually, there is one more thing..."
Liam sighed, "Of course there is..." He shrugged, "Well? What is it?"
"You know how I joined Hayley in the forest?"
"Uh huh..." Liam braced himself, he had a feeling he knew where this was going.
"We... we had sex."
"'Course you did, no one can keep their hands to themselves lately it seems."
Michael looked at him pointedly, "Well?"
He raised an eyebrow, "Well what?"
"What do you think? About me and her... you know, having sex?"
He groaned, "Did you want it?"
"Yes."
"Did she want it?"
He looked offended, "Yes!"
"Then whatever, I don't care."
Michael was confused, "You... don't care?"
He rolled his eyes, "I'm your brother, not your father. Who you have sex with has no bearing on me."
"Well, there's one more thing..."
Liam placed his head in his hands and groaned, "I'm beginning to think you weren't really here to tell me about the pack..."
