Juliet West worked as a journalist before taking an MA in Creative Writing at Chichester University, where she won the Kate Betts Memorial Prize. Before the Fall, her debut novel, was shortlisted for the Myriad Editions novel-writing competition in 2012. She lives in West Sussex with her husband and three children.

Author’s Note
Before the Fall is inspired by real events that took place in London during the First World War. The documents quoted in the novel are based on police statements and newspaper reports of the time; however, all names and some details have been changed. This is a work of fiction.
