Nix leaned close to his ear again, “And... Parker James, I can’t wait until I can enjoy you again,” she whispered.
“I can’t wait either Phoenix Matthias,” Wiley whispered back. “I want to claim you all over again, every day for the rest of our lives.”
Bam Bam watched them together.
Her reaction to the birth certificate broke his heart. He couldn’t seem to even breathe for a few minutes. He wanted to give her the world. Show her just how important she was. He wished Lila and the boys would arrive soon. He thought he had it all when Lila gave him two sons but now his whole world was complete. He was going to work hard to make Nix his daughter and to give her value. He’d read Milly’s words last night and it broke his heart to know what she went through, what Nix had gone through.
She had loved their daughter but she also knew Moses would hurt the girl if Milly showed her any affection. She kept her distance and gave Nix noting. Instead, she’d written to words she knew her daughter couldn’t read. That was something he hoped to change but like his dad had said... one step at a time.
He’d do baby steps if he needed to but he’d be there for her the same as he knew Wiley would be there for her.
A small beam of light burst through the window and shone on Nix’s hair.
Bam Bam smiled He felt it was a sign from heaven. Maybe it was a sign from Milly that acknowledged her role in getting Nix to this point.
He smiled slightly and nodded to her ghost. The light faded away and Bam Bam felt as if Milly could finally say goodbye. At least he hoped so. Their daughter was safe now and would forever be safe. He would see to that. Him and Wiley and every man in both MC’s.
Nix was about to have things she’d never had before. A home, family, acceptance, and he hoped, some happiness.

I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
