Snowed In With You Page 9

“Chase, don’t you dare use that tone with me. I’m your father, for Christ’s sake.”

I could hear Chase laugh, but it wasn’t your, ‘I’m in a red thong dancing around,’ kind of laugh. It was more of a ‘You’re fucking kidding me, you asshole,’ kind of laugh.

“Father? Father? I really didn’t want to have this conversation like this, but if you insist. How in the hell did you really think I wouldn’t figure it all out. Did you think I would go my whole life wondering why I was so different from you? Father? You’re not my Father.”

Mandy and I looked back at each other. With her hand covering her mouth, she looked just as shocked as I felt. “What?” I mouthed, but she just shook her head.

I turned my head back toward the hallway, needing to hear more about what was going on.

“Chase, dear, what are you talking about?” Chase’s mom was putting on a good front, but I could hear it in her voice, she was shaking. Something serious was about to go down.

  “Are you fucking kidding me?”

“Chase, language in front of your mother!” Chase’s dad yelled.

“Not now, I need to get this out. That’s why I came down here. I need to tell you I know. I know everything. Mom, you being pregnant when you met Dad, and, Dad, you taking Mom and her poor bastard child in. I met my birth father, you know. And you know what? He’s a great guy. He’s in the music industry and helped me start my new label.”

“Chase, no.” I could hear his mom start to cry, and I grabbed Mandy’s hand in mine, trying to give her a little comfort.

“Yes, Mom. I found out your dirty little secret. No wonder I felt so out of place my whole life, and all of that resentment I felt was real.”

“Now, Chase, I loved you like you were mine. I did, son. You are my son.”

Mandy finally let go of my hand and started to make her way back to the living room. I followed, not sure what I should be doing.

“Is this true?” she asked, placing her hands on her hips.

No one spoke for a few seconds, but finally their father nodded his head and their mother started sobbing again.

“I just wanted you to know I learned the truth. There’s no need to hide it anymore.”

Mandy and I watched as Chase walked past us on the stairs. I knew he was heading to his room to gather his things. This was it. It was already time for us to say our goodbyes.

Mandy looked over at her parents and just shook her head. I had no idea what she was thinking, but all I could think about was how I needed to go upstairs and comfort Chase.

  “I’ll be right back.”

I turned to head back up the stairs when Mandy reached out and grabbed my arm. “Sutton, wait. Chase really is a dick. He’s going to break your heart. Please, just let him be.”

I looked at her pleading eyes and then back up toward Chase’s door. I didn’t care. I had a feeling my heart was already on its way to being shattered.

“I’m okay, really. I just want to see if he’s okay.” Mandy nodded and finally let me go.

When I made it to Chase’s room, I could hear him rustling around with his things. I knew he was probably feeling the need to flee, but I just wanted to tell him how much these past few days meant to me. There was a reason all this happened.

“Chase?” I asked as I pushed his door open. “Are you okay?”

I heard him let out a small grunt, and I finally spotted him on the other side of his bed. The bed we had been naked together in only hours before.

“Okay? Really? I know you heard everything and I don’t need any of your counselor bullshit right now. I need to get out of here and you need to stay. You belong here. Not me.”

His words hit me like a punch to the gut. I knew he was putting up his walls, his defense mechanism, but I also believed he was starting to have some sort of feelings for me. It hurt, and I knew it was evident on my face. “Chase, don’t do this.”

Chase turned around and walked toward me. “Sutton, please don’t make this more than it was. I told you from the beginning this was all in fun. I don’t do relationships. I’m fucked up, and I don’t need to bring you down with me. I’m trying to get my life together, and yeah, we had fun, but having sex usually is.”

I could feel my eyes start to water, but before I let him say anymore cruel words to me, I turned on my heels and headed out of his room. Maybe everyone was right. He was a complete dick.

  Chapter 17

  Chase

It had been exactly three weeks since I’d last seen Sutton. Three weeks of wondering what the hell was wrong with me and who I’d become. I figured as soon as I got back home to New York, I would be able to get her out of my system, that I would get her long brown hair and amazing body out of my mind. I was wrong. But not only that, I couldn’t shake the feeling of how comfortable I felt around her.

It wasn’t until the other day that one of my buddies finally smacked me over the head and opened my eyes to my real problem.

“Dude, you’re fucking in love. Get over yourself and call the girl.”

I tried to play dumb and acted like I had no idea what he was talking about. He saw right through me though and told me he’d acted the same way when he’d met his wife.

I looked up Sutton and Mandy’s address, but held off contacting her as I tried to grasp if that was really the truth. I thought about it for a few days, and when I realized Sutton was on my mind 90 percent of the day, I knew my friend was probably right. I didn’t know if it was love, but it was worth it to try and apologize to her. She didn’t deserve how I’d treated her at my parents’ house when I’d confronted them about my real father. I should have handled that differently, and I hoped she would forgive me.

I left that next morning, and the drive to Boston was the longest four hours of my life. When I reached their apartment I sat in my car. I felt like a bit of a stalker, but I really wanted to catch Sutton alone and not have to deal with Mandy’s wrath.

So finally, after what felt like days but was only a few more hours, Mandy left their apartment by herself.

I waited until she was around the corner before I mustered up enough confidence to walk over to their door. Now, I had to see if someone would buzz me in.

I was just about to push one of the large green buttons when an older woman opened the door, having no clue I was on the other side until she pushed through it. I held it open for her and gave a charming smile, which must have worked because she didn’t say a word as I slipped inside.

When I finally made it to Sutton and Mandy’s apartment, I knocked on the door and couldn’t wait to finally see Sutton’s face again. It had been the longest three weeks of my life.

I heard some commotion on the other side of the door, and when it finally opened, there she was, looking absolutely beautiful.

“Chase,” she breathed out and stared at me with wide eyes. “What are you doing here?”

All I could do was smile at her, and I knew at that exact moment that my friend had been right. I loved her. I fell in love with her over our time together. I knew people always judged insta-love, but I was living proof that it really existed. I loved this girl. Now, I just had to convince her that she loved me too.

  “Sutton, may I come in?”

She looked over her shoulder and then back at me. I almost thought she was going to tell me to get lost, but just as I was about to give up, she opened the door for me and stepped out of the way.

“You can come in for just a minute. Mandy ran an errand, and she’ll kill you if she finds you here.”

I chuckled at the thought of Mandy trying to kill me, but then noticed what Sutton was wearing. Her low-cut shirt practically showcased her perfect chest. It would never get old being around this girl, and I smiled at the thought.

“What’s so funny? Why are you here?”

I couldn’t help it, and I didn’t want to waste any more time. I walked right up to Sutton and put my hand around the back of her neck. I could feel her body tense, but I
didn’t care. I needed to show her how much of an idiot I was.

I leaned forward and gently placed my lips over hers. She tried to push me away, but I just pulled her tighter to my chest. “I’ve missed you,” I whispered and brought her mouth to mine again. She didn’t react to me at first, but then I felt her give in.

I parted her lips with my tongue and was about to completely lose it, until she shoved me away from her. “Chase, what the hell? You can’t just waltz in here and expect me to start making out with you? What’s your deal?”

I smiled at her and loved her spunk, but it was time I told her the truth. “I’m an idiot, Sutton.”

She just nodded her head and crossed her arms over her chest. “I know.”

I grabbed her hands and held them in mine. “I’m messed up, and that’s no lie. I’m so sorry the way I handled everything at my parents’ house. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you”

She looked away from me, and I could tell she felt the same way. “That’s what great sex will do to you, Chase, but you’ll get over it. You always do, right?” She turned her head back around so she was facing me.

“It wasn’t just great sex, Sutton. It was you. I fell in love with you.”

I heard her breath hitch, and she froze like a statue. Finally, she narrowed her eyes at me. “What did you just say?”

  “I said, I love you.”

I thought I was going to get a slap to the face or a kick in the ass out the door, but what I wasn’t expecting was Sutton to lunge forward and embrace me in a magnificent hug. “You love me?”

Hearing her voice waver, I knew I had made the right decision in coming after her. I loved this girl with all of my heart.

“I do. It’s the only reason I can explain how I’ve felt the past few weeks”

Sutton pulled back and looked into my eyes. “I fell for you too, Chase. I did. I’ve been a wreck.”

I couldn’t take it anymore and leaned forward, giving Sutton one of the most exhilarating kisses yet. I had missed her mouth, her neck, her chest—hell, I missed every damn thing about her.

Our kiss deepened, and before I knew it, we were walking back to what I assumed was her bedroom. I wondered when Mandy would return, but then I decided I didn’t give a shit about that. All I cared about was that Sutton was in my arms again.

“I’ve missed you so damn much. I need to see you naked. I need to have you.”

Sutton just nodded once and kicked open her bedroom door.

Our clothes were off in no time, and as I stood before her, looking at her lying down on her white comforter, I knew I needed to bring her back to New York with me.

  “Come home with me.”

Sutton held her breath and didn’t say a word.

“I’m serious. Move to New York with me. I want to have everything with you. Come back with me.”

I noticed a small tear fall down her cheek, and I caught it with a delicate kiss. “Don’t cry.”

“I’m not sad. I’m just so happy you came back. I’ve been going crazy, Chase. I’ve wanted to call you every day, but I knew you needed your space. Are you sure this is what you want?”

I nudged her legs apart and slowly pushed my cock deep inside her warm, wet folds. “Are you fucking kidding me? You are all I want.” I leaned down and kissed her gently, as I thrusted deep inside of her. I was where I wanted to be, where I belonged.

“I’ll go to New York with you.”

I gazed down at her, feeling her tighten around my length. “I love you, Sutton.”

  “I love you, too.”

Hearing those words come out of her mouth made my chest swell. I would never get tired of this girl.

I lifted her legs so they fit perfectly around my waist and reached down to massage her clit while I continued to push into her. I could feel she was close, and hell, so was I.

We climaxed together and kissed deeply as my cum filled her. We made love one more time before collapsing on her bed, lying together and talking about our future when we heard a knock at her bedroom door.

“Sutton, what are you doing in there?”

I looked down at Sutton and gave her a smirk. “Now all we have to do is convince my sister of our new plan, and our future is golden.”

Sutton laughed and brought me down for another kiss. “I’ll handle her. Don’t worry about a thing. She hates you right now, but I told her how much I’d fallen for you. She’ll understand.”

I knew she was right. Everything was going to be okay now. I was ready to make amends with Mandy, and to have Sutton as a permanent fixture in my life.

Getting snowed in with Sutton started out as the worst thing I could have possibly imagined, but I knew now that it was all part of our master plan. I was looking at my forever. I was excited to see what our future held, and for the first time in my life, I was truly and completely happy.

  Chapter One

  Nicole

  “What’s your first class?”

I looked, for the fiftieth time, down at my class schedule and then back over to the guy that was standing behind me at the coffee shop. A coffee shop that just happened to be strategically placed in the middle of campus.

  “Intro to journalism. You?”

The cute boy chuckled and held up his own schedule for me to see. “I’m not stalking. I promise.”

I squinted my eyes and inspected his paper. “I guess not. Unless –”

“Unless I printed this schedule just to make it look like I wasn’t stalking, which I didn’t.” The look that crossed his face was priceless, and highlighted his mint green eyes. Even if he was a stalker, I wouldn’t have minded one bit. He was kind of hot.

I didn’t know what else to say so I just smiled and turned back around, getting ready to get my hands on my morning caffeine fix.

“Next,” a young blonde barista yelled a bit too loud since I was standing right in front of her, ready for my turn.

“Yes. I’ll take a Vente vanilla latte.” I smiled and was just about to hand her a five when my ‘stalker’ piped up.

“Make that two, and it’s on me.”

Before I could protest he was handing over a card and gave me a million dollar smile. Maybe college wasn’t going to be so bad. A girl could get used to this. “Thanks, but you really didn’t need to do that.”

“My pleasure. Maybe we can walk to class together, you know, to make up for the stalker comment?”

I laughed and it felt good. I didn’t know why but I was a freaking ball of ner
ves on my first day of college. This was something I’d been looking forward to since I was a little girl and it was finally here.

  “Sure, why not?”

The pretty barista cleared her throat and pointed at me. “Name?”

  “Oh. Um, Nikki.”

I watched her scribble my name across a cup and then handed it off to a guy standing next to her. “And yours?”

I couldn’t help but hear the flirtatious vibe that was directed to my new escort. “Chad.”

“Thanks, Chad.” With a wink she wrote his name in huge bubble letters with a little heart next to it.

Hmm, so I wasn’t the only one who found Chad attractive. Not only was he good looking, but he had a hint of familiarity about him. I shook that thought out of my mind and decided maybe I just wanted him to look familiar. “Well, really. Thank you.” I didn’t know what else to say, only that how sweet it was to have my coffee bought for me. Being a college student who was currently job searching had it setbacks. Like not much money.

  “Really, my pleasure.”

We both stood off to the side and waited for our lattes. An awkward moment led me to do the thing that I never could control. My mouth. Whenever I became nervous or in a room full of people I didn’t know, word diarrhea came out of my mouth.

“So, journalism huh? Are you wanting to work for a newspaper? Free lance? Magazine? Or are you thinking you’ll want to do something online?”

Chad chuckled and motioned his head to our drinks that were sitting patiently on the counter. “Hold that thought. I’ll go grab our drinks.”

I could feel my cheeks blush, and I was surprised how attracted I was to Chad. I had only been on campus for a little over a week, and I was already so different from the inexperienced girl who stepped foot here. A virgin who was hopelessly awkward with boys. Now look at me. My roommate, Lexi, had persuaded me to go out with her this past weekend, and with that I’d decided it was finally time to give up my V-card. I had been holding onto it for a reason that was unbeknownst to me. I smiled at the memory, my rendezvous with a hot guy who’s stare could melt your panties right off. He was history though. Chad was my age, which is perfect because my virgin taking fling ended up being a total ass. I could tell, though, that Chad also liked what he saw. My mystery man was in the past, along with my virginity.
