“He should get help if he needs it,” Minka said, burrowing deeper into Oliver’s chest.
Smiling, Oliver squeezed her closer. “Will you ever stop looking out for people?”
“This wasn’t your fault, Mink,” Qasim said.
“I know.” She nodded. “But he won’t be any use to himself or anyone else if he doesn’t get the help he needs. He fought for his country—he deserves at least that much and definitely more.”
“And you wonder why I love you.” Oliver leaned close to kiss her.
Vectra caught Qasim’s eye, and they left the couple alone.

“Mmm...I’m sooo ready to spend the night in my own bed...” Minka sighed the words after a restful night’s sleep.
Seconds later, she discovered two things: she wasn’t alone, and what she had snuggled her head into wasn’t a pillow. She looked up, smiling into Oliver’s gorgeous face.
“I definitely agree with you,” he said drowsily. “Do you know how hard it was for me to be on my best behavior in your grandmother’s house?”
Minka laughed. “I don’t think we would’ve shocked her.”
“I’m not risking it.” Oliver drew a hand through his hair and shook his head against the pillow. “I’m doin’ my damndest to get myself accepted as the woman’s grandson-in-law.”
Minka blinked, her eyes wide.
“Did I say something?” Oliver knew full well he’d stunned her speechless.
“I...can be hard to handle,” was all she managed.
“I like that.” Oliver set his hand beneath his head on the pillow and shrugged. “Means I don’t have to worry that I’m not being gentle enough.”
“Oliver.” Minka pushed up, bracing her weight to her elbows as she looked down at him. “What you said about me having to look out for other people...my grandmother said I’m just like her and that she...the way she is...was sometimes a big challenge for my granddad.”
“Mmm...and yet they had a long, satisfying marriage...”
“They did...” Minka considered the truth while toying with a heavy curl dangling close to her eye. “But we’re out the gate with some pretty heavy stuff.”
“Damn right, and I haven’t even started browsing for rings yet.”
“Be serious.”
Oliver’s playful expression sharpened at once. “Don’t think for a minute that I’m not.” His hand disappeared in her curls, and he snagged a hoard of them. “I know what I want. You’re it—good, bad and beautiful. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she said as he pulled her astride his lap. He began to fondle a plump breast beneath the T-shirt she’d pulled from the stash of lounge attire she kept in her guest room.
He leaned in for a heavy kiss, and Minka could scarcely find the energy to meet the thorough thrusts and rotations of his tongue. She was too enthralled by the sensation roused by his seeking hands.
Minka eased her hips to make room for his fingers skimming the silky folds of her sex, already growing slick with her need. Her moan reverberated in the room.
“Hush up, will you?” Oliver commanded in a whisper.
“But my bedroom is in its own private wing.”
“Can’t take any chances, remember?”
Their kiss resumed, full-blown and lusty. Minka rode Oliver’s exploring fingers as they took her with a merciless enthusiasm. She was intermittently bucking her hips to absorb the sensual ripples of the touch and arching her chest to indulge in the erotic assault on her nipples.
“Oliver?” She felt him leave the bed. “Where...?” was all she could muster when he took her with him.
“Back to bed, after I do this.”
Minka felt the bedroom door behind her back, and, moments later, the turn of the lock touched her ears. She released the giggle that tickled her throat. “Are things about to get that shocking?”
“You’ve got no idea,” Oliver said with a sly wink as he headed back to bed with his lovely, laughing woman.
