“Mera and I are heading out there right now, so yeah, I can keep an eye on the two of you for fifteen, but then you need to get back in the house so I can enjoy my evening with her.”
“You really like her, don’t you?”
He looks at Cove and sets his plate on the counter. “Keep your thoughts and opinions of me to yourself, or I’ll change my mind.”
“Touchy subject,” I whisper.
“You too,” Dayne says as he points at me. “Wrap it up. I’ll be outside. The clock’s ticking.” He leaves the room and I quickly search through the drawers for a plastic bag.
“Look in the pantry,” Cove suggests.
I find a box of large freezer storage bags and place one on his foot.
“Check some of those drawers for tape.”
I search but only find kitchen utensils and a junk drawer full of pens, a phonebook, and notepads. No tape. I sigh, and think for a moment of something else we could use.
“Nothing?” he asks.
I nod no.
He stands and holds his hand out to me. “Come on, let’s go.”
“You’re not going in the water with your foot like that.”
“No, I’m not,” he replies. “Your tattoo’s probably okay at this point. It’s been three days, but my foot will have to be wrapped. You’re right, I’m not about to go through another one of Trey’s botched stitch jobs.”
We walk to the living room and I see Mera through the back door, already in the pool. She smiles and waves, and I wave back, slightly hesitant in my motions. Where was she when I was locked in that room for three days?
Cove opens a drawer that’s full of masks, ropes, handcuffs, and other sex toys. Must be a role-playing drawer. He pulls out a roll of duct tape and sits on the brown sofa by the door, then wraps the freezer bag tightly around his ankle. He tears the roll and tosses it to me. I place it back in the drawer and notice most of the masks are of animals. One’s a rabbit, another a dog, a horse, and a wolf. I push the drawer shut with my hip and head out the back door with him. Mmm, air.
It’s warm for a November night, but we are in Vegas, so the temperature being in the seventies shouldn’t surprise me. The smell of desert sage is pervasive, and a string of white flickering lights surround the pool.
Mera walks slowly and leisurely up the steps, water dripping down her nude white body, her hair slicked back, and her breasts perky as they bounce before us. She encases me with her wet body and kisses my cheek.
“Hmm, I could just eat you all up, my love. It’s about time you’re out of that room.”
“You knew about that?” I ask.
“Unfortunately, I did.”
“And the Keep?”
She nods her head yes.
“And?” I wait for an explanation of why she didn’t help me. She’s so casual and relaxed about all of it, just like Cove used to be. What the fuck?
“Mera, get back in here, leave those two alone,” Dayne yells from the deep end of the pool.
I send her one of my dirtiest looks and she frowns as she heads back in the water.
“You know I couldn’t have done anything even if I wanted to,” she responds with her back to us.
“Mera, don’t you want to meet Cove?”
She stops and looks to Dayne for permission. He shrugs, swims to the side of the pool, and takes a swig of the beer that’s resting on the concrete edge.
“And what do you mean, you couldn’t have done anything even if you wanted to?” I question. “You have no idea what I’ve been through.”
Cove squeezes my hand and we walk toward the steps of the pool. Mera quickly turns and struts hastily up to me. She slaps my face and I slap her right back. Hard.
“Whoa,” Cove says under his breath.
“Oh shit,” Dayne mutters. “Why don’t the two of you get back in the house so I don’t have to deal with a cat fight.”
Mera quickly kisses me… intensely… on the lips. It’s genuine, and both Cove and Dayne have the same reaction.
“Fuck.”
She backs away, places her hands on my shoulders, looks at my tat, then glares deep into my eyes.
“You know I would’ve helped if I could. I may have Dayne whipped, but not your father, Soph.”
“Dayne was the one who gave me this tattoo,” I whisper.
“What?” Dayne yells. “Mera, get your fucking ass over here,” his voice trailing. “Fucking whore, saying shit like that. Whipped. Yeah, I may just use a whip on you for that comment.”
She finally looks at Cove who’s been standing quietly next to us… on the stitches… and waiting patiently for us to finish. I’m taking away his time in the water because of this dumbass conversation.
Cove smiles and reaches his hand out to her, carefully keeping his eyes on her face and not her naked body. “Mera, I’ve heard a lot about you. It’s a pleasure.”
“Yes, it is,” Mera replies and shakes his hand. “I have to say, I haven’t heard a lot about you, or I should say, anything nice about you from Dayne or Paul, but since Soph likes you, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.”
“Mera,” I scold.
“I understand,” Cove replies, in a mature and casual manner.
“But you are fucking hot as hell. Geez Soph. He’s like a model. I hope it’s not just the looks you’re hooked on, and he has something more to offer. Especially considering you’ve gone through all of this for him.”
“I fucking went through all of this shit for you,” I remind her. “God, Mera. What happened to you?”
“Mera. Now!” Dayne shouts.
She sashays into the water and swims to Dayne. Oh yeah, that’s what happened. Dayne Rosen.
“I hope Dayne has something to offer you,” I retort.
“Yeah, my giant cock. You’ve seen it, Baby J. You know it’s the largest in this house.”
Cove looks at me with his dark eyes and kisses my cheek. “It happens to all of them. Don’t worry. If she ever decides to leave, she may go back to being the good friend you once knew.”
I glance at the other end of the pool and see the two of them making out in the water. Dayne’s arms are wrapped around her and her body all but disappears into his.
A flash of light from above distracts the four of us and we all look up to see my father on his balcony. There’s a second flash as he lights a cigar. He leans against the railing in his black robe and forces a cloud of smoke out into the air. The cigar is flicked, and small burning embers float down toward the four of us. There’s silence as we watch and listen.
“You know, Dayne. I didn’t say these two could go outside,” he seethes.
Good, he’s irritated. I can hear it in his voice, and it’s no longer a raging madness disguised behind a tranquil voice.
“That fucker isn’t going anywhere with his foot cut in half. What, you think he’s gonna run?” Dayne laughs.
My father takes another puff of his cigar and a cloud dances above him in the night sky. Cove undresses and places his good foot in the pool, with his eyes glued on my father. I take off my pants, sweatshirt, and tank, but leave my underwear on.
“Get in, you fucks. You’ve got ten minutes left.”
Dayne’s right. I walk down the steps, ignore my father’s presence, and Cove follows close behind. We’re in.
The air is much cooler than the pool water, and a light fog lifts around us. We leave Dayne and Mera alone and keep to ourselves in the shallow end. Cove kneels and pulls my stomach close to him. He kisses my abdomen and presses his hands firm against my ass. I move in, throw my head back, and look up at the stars. It’s a clear night and the only sounds are the splashes of water from the four of us.
I lower and kneel in front of him. Mera’s right, he’s beautiful, but it’s all inside. That’s what she doesn’t know, see, or feel; his beauty lies deep in his heart.
“What are you thinking about?” he asks with a smile. “I can tell by the happiness in your eyes that it’s something good.”
“You, of course. You make me happy, Cove.”
“Just wait, Sophia. I haven’t had a chance to make you happy yet. You’ll know how deeply I love you and what true happiness is when we get out of here. I’m going to take care of you, good care of you, like no one else has.”
I lean in and lick his lips. He exhales through his nose as my tongue enters his mouth and presses gently against his. Our hands caress one another’s chests as our kisses become deep and passionate.
I’m startled by a loud shriek that originates from the deep end of the pool and echoes through the night sky. Mera giggles and screams as Dayne tosses her into the air. She comes back down with a splash and swims away, only to be caught and tossed again.
“I’ve never seen Dayne like this before,” Cove whispers. He keeps an eye on them as he nibbles my chin and neck.
“Mera’s easy to fall in love with. She’s tough and won’t take any shit from him.”
“That’s why he likes her. No other woman in this house has ever stood up to Dayne. He even calls her by her real name. I didn’t think I’d ever see the day that Dayne Rosen fell in love.”
“You think they’re in love?” I whisper back.
“I believe so. I’ll be able to tell for sure tomorrow night at the party. A lot of beautiful women will be here, and Dayne will have his choice of any of them. He never stays with the house whore on event nights. He always jokes with Paul that he gets first pick of the litter. If he stays with Mera through the night then he’s fallen for her. But, I would say from what I’m witnessing tonight, yeah, he’s falling in love. Look at them.”
Dayne swims on his back with her wrapped in his arms. She smiles and places her hands over his as they glide through the water.
“Is this good or bad?” I ask.
“I think it’s good. Maybe he’ll lighten up a little bit now that he’s in high spirits. As long as Paul doesn’t fuck it up, he might even smile.”
“He’s smiling now.”
“Unbelievable,” Cove says softly. I wish I had a camera.
We laugh, both realizing there probably is a camera on us. I place my lips back to his and he runs his fingers through my hair.
“Do you want to float like we did that night in your loft?” I ask.
“It’s my favorite, most relaxing, and healing thing to do, but no, I can’t.”
I give him a confused look and he places my hand on his stiff erection. My expression changes from confusion to awareness, and an image of his cock bobbing in and out of the water flashes through my mind. I giggle and wrap my legs around his waist, my arms around his neck, and snuggle up close to his hard mass. The water’s shallow where we are, only about three feet, and he leans back and lowers his body to rest on his lower legs.
“This is nice. The water’s warm and my muscles are starting to loosen up. I’ve been taut since Trey stuck the first needle into my flesh.”
“I can’t believe you had to endure all of that just because you didn’t put me in the wheelbarrow. Now that it’s over, it sounds so childish, doesn’t it?”
“No. Not to your father. And it wasn’t just about his loss of control for the end bid. It was also because I came inside of you, twice, and because I didn’t sit up in the bedroom when he asked me to.”
“Again, it’s all so incredibly bizarre. Only something you’d see in a movie.”
“I don’t believe any of this would ever be in a movie, Soph. Who would want to see a movie about porn stars being abused by Paul Jameson? Come on, let’s enjoy the few moments we have left in here.”
“Well, I’ll make sure the rest of your night is perfect. I have plans for you.”
“Oh yeah. What?” he asks with a large grin and excited eyes. “Does it involve frogs and baked potatoes?”
“Cove… what? What are you talking about?”
He laughs and kisses my forehead. “It was a joke, Soph. I wanted to throw something completely crazy out there to see what your reaction would be. The confusion on your face was priceless.”
“Ah, picking on me. Well, I’ll get you back. Just wait and see.” I look up at the balcony and notice my father has disappeared. Dayne has Mera pinned against the side of the pool and he’s sucking on her breasts. She yanks the back of his hair and he pushes hard against her small body.
“Whipped?” he moans. “I’ll show you who’s fucking whipped. Get on my dick, Mera. Fuck me. Show me how whipped you are for me.”
She giggles and I gag. “Cove, the fresh air is nice, and I know how much you love the water, but do you feel like heading back inside?”
“I think that’s a good idea. Hearing Dayne fuck is one thing, but being this close to him while he’s actually doing it, is another. Besides, I don’t want to be in this water when his cum is floating around us.”
“Eeew, gross!” I race out of the water before his words become reality, and slide quickly into my yoga pants and tank. I toss Cove his fleece pajamas and he pulls them up before anyone can see his erection. We pick up the rest of our clothes and scurry toward the house.
“Hey, fuckers. You finished out here?” Dayne shouts.
“Yep, going back in,” I respond.
He climbs out of the pool and walks toward us with his erection flopping in the air. “I need to lock this door for the evening then get back to my whore.”
Nice show, Dayne.
“Dayne,” Cove pauses. “Thanks.”
“Get inside, fucker,” he says with a smile. “I’m busy.”
We step into the living room and he closes the door. The keypad lights up and glows red. The alarm is on.
Cove heads for the bar, cuts the duct tape from around his ankle, and throws the plastic bag in the trash. He takes a bottle of Glenlivet Scotch, and two glasses from the back counter then hobbles toward the stairwell. I follow right by his side.
“I’ve had half a bottle of wine and two beers today, Babe. I don’t think I can drink anymore without feeling sick. I’m already a little nauseous from being in the pool after such a big dinner.”
“It’s for my foot, Soph. I need it.”
“Maybe you should take another dose of ibuprofen instead. That will help keep the inflammation down around the wound, and help with the pain.”
“No, alcohol is just fine.”
“Cove,” I stop him as we’re partway up the stairs. “I worry about you. It’s obvious that…”
“I know. I know what you’re about to say, and I’ve had this conversation many times with my father. But right now, I need it. I need to drink to get through all of this.”
“Well, just take note that I’m keeping an eye on you, and eventually I’m going to cut you back.”
He smiles and we continue to the second floor and toward the Jameson side of the house. As we round the corner, just a few feet ahead of us, and walking speedily our way with his head turned back toward my father’s office, is Carl Caverns. Cove places his hand up and Carl walks right into it. He’s startled for a moment, and then apologizes for the collision.
“Sorry, my Prince and Princess.”
“What are you doing here so late?” Cove asks.
“I’m on my way out as we speak. Been in here too long for my own good. Gotta get a move on and my code in that keypad before Paul’s finished.”
“Finished with what?” I question.
“My delivery,” he says, walking hurriedly around us and to the stairwell.
I hear laughter coming from my father’s office. It’s definitely the sound of a woman, and I immediately understand.
“Fresh meat just off the plane,” Carl yells back at us.
“Fuck,” Cove says, moving as fast as he can to the railing that overlooks the great room. I follow close behind and stand next to him as he yells down to Carl. “Hey, is it my mother? Is she here?”
He looks up at the two of us as he slides his arms into a black jean jacket. “It is a Rosen,” he pauses. “But this world is full of them.”
An
d with that, he’s gone.
I hear a loud scream and laughter again from the end of the hall. We turn and stare. It has to be…
“Devery,” Cove whispers. “What’s she doing here?”
“Maybe she came with your mother.”
“Ha, that will be the day. How can two people not speak to one another for almost seven years and then decide to travel together to Vegas in a day? Besides, we don’t even know if they’re talking. It’s only a guess.”
“Well if it is her, and they did come out together, that’s a good thing… right?”
“I don’t know. Could be another Jameson set up.”
I sigh at his constant skepticism. “What do you think they’re doing?”
“Well, they’re not playing checkers, that’s for sure.”
“Cove, seriously. You think they’re getting it on? My father and Devery?”
“God, I hope not. But then, what do we care? Come on, let’s get to our room so we can be away from all of these couples fornicating in and around the house.”
I laugh and squeeze his hand. “You mean like us?”
“Ask me that again in about twenty minutes.”
“You’re walking really well for having twenty-one stitches across the bottom of your foot.”
“The slash is through my arch. When I walk my foot comes to rest on the ball and heel so I’m not actually walking on the stitches. But it still hurts like fucking hell. It throbs. You know when you get a cut and it feels like it’s alive, like there’s a pulse going crazy in the area. It’s beating and throbbing like that.”
“Sorry,” I respond as we walk into the suite. Cove closes the door and I quickly open it back up. “Don’t shut it all the way. I want to know that we’re not locked in here. Let’s keep it open just a crack.”
“I thought you might need some privacy.”
I laugh and point at the camera above the ceiling fan.
“Fair enough,” Cove says, and pours himself a glass of Scotch. He takes a sip and places it on the side table next to the bed. “Thanks for dinner, Soph. That was kind of you.”
“No problem. I like to cook; I just don’t get a chance to do it very often. Maybe we can have some nice dinners together when we get home.”
