“I love you,” she offered, when she pulled away.
“I love you both,” Flynn said, leaving the fangs out, as if to prove a point.
Jacques approached, wrapping himself around Flynn’s body, much like Jolie had done. Together, they lapped at the blood coating his face and neck. As a unit, they shared in the death.
As it should be.
“Welcome,” Jolie whispered, as Flynn enjoyed their mouths moving over his flesh.
“I’m home,” he vowed.
Death screamed in triumph. She’d gotten her wish.
Her harbinger was destined to be the strongest of them all. The prophecy was unfolding.
There was no stopping it now.

Across town
“What will you do my love?” she inquired, as they lay in bed together.
He grinned, as he licked up her arm. “I have already taken the steps and contacted the tueur,” he offered.
She looked scared.
“Oh, my love, don’t worry. I did it anonymously, of course. I’m not a fool. I know better.”
She still couldn’t relax. “The tueur?” she paused, alarmed. “The dogs have been called out on her? Was that necessary?”
“Yes.”
There was no regret in his voice.
None whatsoever.
“What did you tell them?” She was worried it would come back to haunt them. Jolie Harcourte lived for vengeance.
“I simply told them that her vampyre mate had impregnated her. They were appalled. They believe she’s gotten too powerful, and they will put a stop to it.”
“What will they do?” she asked.
“They will cut the abomination from her body or take her life. What choice do they have? Our laws are our laws.”
“Can the mates save her?”
Balzac laughed. “No one can be saved from the tueur. No one.”
