One True Mate_Shifter's Shield Page 7

by Jules Tyler

“Hey Tans, who is that walking with the guys?” Cerise asked, straining her eyes to see his face.

Tansy looked at Caylan then back to the red headed man, “I have no clue. I know Caylan has a friend in the rebels that lives in the Pravus, but I can’t remember his name.”

“Pregnancy brain!” Willow and Rogue sang before breaking out in laughter with the rest of the girls.

“Oh, you leave her alone!” Ella admonished the two.

The men came to a stop in front of the porch as Caylan gestured to the man standing next to him, “Tansy, this is my friend Jedrek. He’s a foxen too.”

“Pleasure,” Tansy said, reaching out to shake the stranger’s hand.

“Caylan has seemed so much happier recently, I figured he had picked up a bad habit. I never suspected he had found someone as pretty as you to make him happy,” Jedrek smiled.

“Flattery will get you everywhere, good sir,” Tansy laughed at his compliment.

“Jedrek has more information about Khain that he wanted to share with all of us,” Caylan frowned, placing a protective hand over Tansy’s belly.

“There is talk amongst the foxen that Khain has figured out how to cross over into the Ula successfully without it alerting the felen. Now, whether it’s true or not, I am not sure. I have to get back so I can find out more, but I wanted to give all of you a fair warning. Stay close to each other, exercise your gifts, grow stronger, and above all, be safe,” Jedrek said solemnly. “I’m sorry. I have to go.”

Everyone sat in silence together as they watched Jedrek disappear into the woods. Tansy’s mind was racing with the information they had been given.

“Well, shit,” Rogue muttered from where she was standing.

“Yeah,” Tansy said, splaying her hands over Caylan’s on her belly. “Shit.”

  Acknowledgements

Where do I begin? There are so many people that I need to thank!

First and foremost, I have to acknowledge my family. You never complain and you’ve always made sure I feel encouraged to lock the door and put to words the thoughts of my heart. Thank you for being the support that I need at home so that I can embark on this crazy journey.

To Liz and Britt, the women that I always have when I need them the most. Here’s to many years of girl’s nights and cocktails. You helped me to become the woman I am today.

My Idaho girls: Kati, Amanda, Courtney, and Kater. Who knows where I would be without you? I am forever blessed to have you all in my life. Thank you for being my sounding boards when I need you to be.

Tribe Squad girls! We laugh together, cry together, and lift one another up. I love each of you. Thank you for being the voice of reason when I’m running on low and ready to quit. Without all of your guidance, I would not be where I am today in this industry. May we all see our own success in the years to come.

I also have a whole list of people that I need to thank for their hard work behind the scenes. First, I’d like to thank Nathan Hainline for agreeing to work with me as the cover model for this book. Nathan has been so professional and kind. I’m genuinely looking forward to working with him and his girl, Cassady Rose, on future projects.

Brandon Vance…Where do I begin with you? You went above and beyond for me on this cover and I am so glad I get to call you a friend. Thank you for working with me on this cover, here’s to many more to come!

Summer of Red Pen Revolution, it’s like they’re my words butt better, right? I still get a giggle out of your puns when we start editing. Thank you for cleaning up my commas, even though I know they drive you nuts. Also, thank you for being a fantastic friend. You take good care of me. Here’s to our future success!

Sammy, thank you for stepping up to help me with formatting this time around. You really saved my bacon!

Last, but definitely not least, thank you to my readers! Wow, I cannot say thank you enough for your support and your reviews. This journey would not be nearly as satisfying or fun without you. You’ve stuck with me despite all of the typos, the heartache, the missed deadlines, just everything that life can throw at me. I would not be where I am today without all of you. Thank you for being the amazing people that you’ve been. I look forward to many more memories between Facebook chats and signing events. I love you all. Stay strong and love hard.
