As they sat down for breakfast that morning, he could feel a shift in her. Alexis had gotten even quieter, and he wondered if she was on the verge of telling him what was on her mind. He thought he might explode waiting, but he wanted to give her a shot to come forward on her own before he grilled her about it. So, he thought he would give her the time through the meal to say something.
“I think it’s going to be a nice day. Maybe we could go for a walk outside for a bit. I know we can’t hold hands or anything, but it still might be romantic in a way,” he offered, starting with a little small talk to break the ice. She just nodded her head and slurped breakfast off of her spoon like a soup, not even meeting his eyes.
“Nabvan, I think there is something we need to talk about,” she said finally, placing her spoon down and looking at him with serious eyes. He wanted to just dive deep into them and never be able to get out, but there were more serious matters to handle at the moment. Reality was a harsh thing to deal with.
“This has to do with the king sending women back to Earth, doesn’t it?” he asked, wanting to skip the explanations. He just wanted answers, but maybe he wasn’t being very fair to the woman he loved.
“Yes, how did you guess?” she asked, dumbfounded that he had guessed such a thing so easily. It was plain on her face. He needed to let her say whatever it was she needed to say in order to get to the revelation.
“I’m sorry, but I have noticed your behavior this whole time has been off. There has been something on your mind, and I remembered that you said nothing about yourself when you mentioned the women going back to Earth if they didn’t mate like they were meant to. It’s been on my mind, and it’s been killing me. But please, say whatever you need to say. I will listen. I love you either way.” Nabvan tried to be reassuring because he knew what she must be thinking. He knew what he would be thinking. He would be worried about losing the love of the person he wanted to be with because of something someone else decided for them. It was the worst situation imaginable. Well, almost the worst. He didn’t want to think about the worst.
“Okay,” she started, trying to maintain eye contact. He watched her head rope many times as she explained. “The king came to me before he left, and I asked him if he could give the women more freedom. I realized it might come with a price, but the price was a high one, especially after he told me many of the women would be sent back to Earth. He told me that he thought I should go too, if I wasn’t interested in mating with him. He was as kind as could be expected about it, just letting me know that our purpose was to mate and that nobody would be happy if we stayed and it didn’t happen. So, I told him I would think about it. I needed more time. I didn’t know what I wanted then, but I do now.”
He hung on every word she was saying. Nabvan was only slightly relieved to hear that she had not mated with King Shene yet. That meant that in order to stay, she would have to do it anyway, and that hurt. It meant that she would probably have to continue to do it in order to stay in the king’s good graces. Was that something he could handle? He wasn’t sure he could, but what about if she went to Earth with the other women? He didn’t know what to do about that either. Leaving the Milisarians wouldn’t be easy, even if it was for a good reason, and he didn’t know at this point how the king would react if he just walked on the ship. King Shene might physically stop him from doing so.
“What do you want, Alexis?” he dared to ask her, waiting on pins and needles.
“I want to be here with you. I want to stay.”
A puff of air left his lungs, as if someone had hit him hard in the back with a staff. He knew what that meant. There was no relief to be had with that statement. “But then that means you will have to mate with the king. He is not going to let you stay here any other way. And now that you have given him even an inch, he won’t accept you telling him you want someone else.” Nabvan knew it to be true. And King Shene would see it as a betrayal on his part that he had allowed the woman the king was supposed to be mating with to love him instead.
“Then, that is what I will have to do,” she said with grim determination. “Is that something you can even live with?” she asked with a worried expression. She looked like she might cry, and he wasn’t about to let that happen, even though it felt like he was dying inside.
“If you must do this,” he said, looking away for a moment, “then can I ask that I have you first?” It was hard for him to say, knowing that she would mate with him and then another. But at least he would be hers first. He would have that to hold in his heart while he knew she was in the king’s arms. Alexis gasped, not holding back her shock at all. “If you do not want me, then I understand,” he told her, ready to let it go if she declined. But he would have to leave her after that.
“I want you more than I want anything else,” she said, and Nabvan’s heart began to race.
Chapter 17
Alexis had not expected Nabvan’s exact reaction to the news that she would have to sleep with King Shene in order to remain on Milisaria. She didn’t know why she had never thought about having sex with Nabvan. Well, she had thought about it, but she had never considered making it a reality. Somewhere in her brain, she had gotten bogged down by the idea that she belonged to the king, and she never dared to hope that she could give her body to someone she loved before she had to face the music, so to speak.
Alexis could already feel his hands on her, a distant memory from a different life it seemed. But he was still sitting across from her, clearly processing her answer. They had both been insecure in the other’s feelings; she could see that now. This moment was going to solidify everything though. There was no going back now that they knew they wanted each other, wholly and selfishly.
Her body seemed to be frozen as Nabvan stood up and walked towards her. She did not know what it would be like, having sex with a Milisarian knight. She wondered if it would be any different from having sex with a human man. She had not been with many—only a couple in college like everyone else, but it had been lackluster for her. Perhaps those times were lacking the explosive attraction and deep love she had with Nabvan. Maybe those were the things that made sex great. If so, it meant terrible things for her experience with the king.
Nabvan lifted her out of her chair like she was a rag doll and crushed her body to his with a searing hot kiss for the ages. This was real. It was not another one of her dreams. Dreams could not feel so painful and amazing at the same time.
Alexis let her tongue slip into his mouth as she enjoyed the warmth of his body surrounding her, wanting to stay there forever. If only they had more time, she would make their first time, and possibly their last time, last for days.
He tasted spicy and sweet, like the best kind of salsa, as his tongue dug deep into her mouth, sliding up against the roof and down to her lips where he sucked the bottom one in deliciously. For someone who had never mated before, he knew just what to do to her. And to think, they hadn’t even made it to the bed yet.
His hands slid down her body and back up in a rhythm that made her relax into him. He was going to be in control of this, in control of her, and she was fine with that. She was fine with whatever he wanted to do with her. She had never felt that way about a man before.
Nabvan grabbed her hands and slid them underneath his shirt and armor, signaling just what he wanted. He wanted her to remove his clothes, strip him down so she could see yet again what was underneath it all. So, Alexis obliged, pulling his shirt over his head like it was nothing but cream. Then, she slid down his black pants, revealing his long, half-hard member.
His body was pale, just as she remembered, and she found that it made her wet to see how his heart flashed and pumped under his see-through skin for her. It was racing and pounding, sending the blood flow straight down to the part of him that would be used to pleasure her for as long as they had left together.
Alexis slid her hands against his smooth skin, admiring how it felt under her fingers. She committed every inch to memory in case
she would need it to use on lonely nights after everything was said and done. She didn’t know what would happen to them once the king had his way with her. But she would find a way to keep him somehow. He was everything.
Nabvan slid his hands down her body again before taking to her pink bodysuit, pulling at the strings like it was a race to get it off. He wanted to get to what was underneath so he could enjoy it before it was too late. He looked determined as he continued, releasing her breasts first with a gasp and a rush of cold air before finally being able to slink it down her body to drop on the floor. Alexis stood before him, wearing nothing to cover her body. She didn’t worry about the scars on her back, for it was Nabvan that helped her heal them. There was nothing left to say about them other than some long red scratches that pulled at her skin strangely. The rest of her was still in pristine condition, and she hoped he would love what he saw.
She watched Nabvan as he looked her up and down, admiring her body while his shaft began to stand at attention. It was long and pale, hardening much like a human man’s would, though it was much larger than most human men. He would fill her up easily, and her body felt warm at the idea. He could feel her wetness spreading in her hungry center.
“You are the most beautiful creature in the universe, I swear,” he said before approaching her, sweeping her hair back behind her head. Chills coursed down her spine in a delightful pleasure as he leaned down and began to kiss around her collarbone and up to her neck. He landed at her ear, sucking and nibbling at the lobe before whispering in her ear just what she needed to hear. “I will love you always. You are my mate. Nothing will change this, even when we die.”
Alexis slid her arms around his neck before pulling him in closer, feeling over his back with her fingertips. He growled into her ear, and it sounded like the purr of a tiger. She wanted to wake that tiger up so bad and make him bite her.
Alexis used her nails on his back, lightly first, and then she began sliding into his skin just a little; just enough for that pleasurable pain she was going for. He growled louder and scooped her up, her ass in his hands as he carried her over to the bed.
“I want you so badly,” he told her in her ear forcefully before throwing her down so that she bounced a few times before settling. He was looming over her, and she watched his sexy body as he crawled towards her from the bottom of the bed, spreading her legs so that he could see her wet, pink flesh that wanted nothing more than to feel him plunged deep inside of her.
Nabvan’s hand slid over her slick, sensitive flesh, and she gasped at the sensation. It was so strong that it made her shiver, and he smiled at her with that cheeky grin of his that she loved so much.
Then, his hand came up to slide across her stomach and then landed on her left breast as he began to massage it as if he had been doing it his whole life. Her nipple was pinched between his fingers, and she arched her back in response. Her body was calling to him, wanting to get to the main attraction but knowing it would end all too soon if he did.
His hand moved to her right breast, making that nipple stand on end as well as she moaned softly at his touch. He was so close now, hanging over her but keeping his shaft just far enough away from her to be maddening. He knew the way he was teasing and torturing the both of them, but Alexis felt he probably was thinking the same as she was: that he didn’t want to get to the end and have nothing left with her.
Then, he placed his body over hers, his tongue lapping up against her lips, leaving them wet and savory. She could feel his shaft right up against her center, just waiting to push inside of her at the right moment: the moment she would least expect it. His hand caressed her left cheek, and she felt like she might cry with the way he was looking at her like she was the only woman in the universe. This moment was going to play in her dreams for every moment she lived, and she knew it before the action even started.
Finally, like the release of a sigh, he began to push himself inside of her, inch by inch. His shaft slid through the wetness, opening her up as she held her breath. It ripped through her body with a slow but pleasurable pain that she had not known until now, before he pulled himself out of her and did it all over again. The sensations continued to leave her breathless, panting for air while he suffocated her with his delectable body.
Nabvan’s member pounded against her insides, waking every nerve on the way with a shot of electricity. She moaned and grabbed onto him, wrapping her legs around his body and squeezing ever so tightly. Alexis sighed with pleasure as he slammed into her harder, the sensations showing on his face as he felt her body squeeze around him.
Alexis began to move her hips in rhythm with his as she huffed out her breath with each powerful thrust. Too soon, just as she had feared, a wave came over her body, running through her until it reached her center, making it pulse around his shaft. She pulsed and shivered in his arms as he released inside of her, filling her with his warmth. There was a moment when she allowed herself to think of what it would be like to be carrying his child, and she sent out a thought into the universe that if she was to carry a Milisarian, it would belong to him: the man she loved so dearly.
And this was the way they spent their time together up until the final hours when they were unsure when the king would come barging in, ready for her answer about mating before they left for Earth. Nabvan and Alexis agreed not to talk or think about it, to just love each moment before and after as if nothing had happened, but she didn’t know if that would work. She would only hope.
Chapter 18
King Shene came into Alexis’s room late that night after she had showered. Alexis hated to take Nabvan’s scent off of her but felt paranoid that the king could smell him on her if she didn’t. Alexis let herself go numb as she saw him, something she had been preparing herself for an entire week. She had to do whatever was necessary to remain a Milisarian so she could continue to see the love of her life. It was like a tether attached their hearts to each other, and if cut, she would die. Love was a funny thing like that, and she wondered why she had never been able to get to that point with anyone before. Had Nabvan been waiting on this dark planet for her his whole life, just hoping she would make the decision to come into space so the Milisarians could snatch her up?
“It is nice to see you after taking care of some business. It is always a tedious and lonely thing to do,” the king said, reaching out to her for an embrace. Alexis didn’t question or hesitate, she embraced him as well, trying not to move away as his hand slid over the bare spaces on her back. She couldn’t help herself as she popped off at him. It was the one victory she thought she could have before she offered her body to a man who didn’t deserve it: to a man other than the one it belonged to.
“How can it possibly be lonely with so many women to keep you company? Surely, you took one of them with you for your pleasure?” she asked harshly as she gave him a peck on the cheek and pulled away, heading over to the bed. She wanted to make herself look unapproachable. Maybe he would change his mind and let her do whatever she wanted. He got to do that.
King Shene cleared his throat, looking caught off guard. Alexis liked that she could do that. He approached her, and she braced herself for whatever was coming, but nothing did. “I was not aware you knew about the other women,” he said simply, looking a little embarrassed. He should have been embarrassed. He was part of a race that believed in only ever sleeping with one woman, but he had many at the same time, holed up in rooms somewhere unknown. And none of them belonged there. They were all stolen from some other planet.
“Milisarians talk, Shene, and so do some of the women. Of course, I would find out. I have known it for a long time, but it took this week for me to really feel hurt by it.” That was a lie, but it was a lie that could save her in the end. She had to be convincing in her want for him so he would never suspect that every time she was alone with Nabvan she would be tasting his sin like it was candy.
“I think I owe you an apology. I am not a traditional Milisarian, and I would love to
give my excuse that I am only a half-breed.” Alexis was instantly taken aback by that statement. She had wondered about his darker skin before, but nothing else about him read a thing other than Milisarian knight. “That is a poor excuse for my behavior, but I assure you, I took no other woman with me on my latest travels. It was purely business, and I have been trying to see those women less and less in hopes of doing right by you. Do you not understand that I wish to make you my queen? You would be queen of all of Milisaria. Nothing could stop you, then. No one could tell you what to do, other than myself in this bedroom. You could be whatever you wanted; you could do whatever you wanted.” Alexis tried not to laugh. If only he knew what she wanted, he wouldn’t be giving her that offer. But it was tempting. That freedom could do so much for her. It could do so much for Milisaria.
“Forgive me if I seem to be in a poor mood. I have been lonely this time and faced with a hard reality. My friends will be going back to Earth to face whatever it is they must face back down on Earth. Many were prisoners before, and I worry about them,” she admitted, hoping that he would do something; even a tiny thing about that concern.
“I am sorry about that. I did not realize you were close to any of those women,” he admitted. How could he not know that? Did he not pay any attention at Destiney’s wedding? Then again, the king only paid attention to himself. It was something she needed to remember in all of this to not be pulled in. “I will make sure you get to tell them goodbye before they are left on Earth, and I will talk to the humans and let them know that these women deserve a nice life.” Alexis doubted he would remember, but it was better than nothing. But maybe that time alone with the women would do some good. Maybe they could all come up with a plan with Nabvan’s help. There was something else to take care of first, though: fulfilling her duty to the king.
