Tattoos and Angels Page 17

by Casey McMillin

"You really hurt me," he moaned. "I think I'm injured."

"You're gonna find out what injured is if you don't stand your ass up and get to your car. You have ten seconds to get out of my sight, and if you ever come near my lady again, I'll gladly repeat my performance, only this time I won't stop. Ten!"

Connor stood up with a whimper and scurried off, looking like the hunchback of Notre Dame as he limped to his car.

"That was so amazing!" Chad said, peering out of his trailer door. "I wish we would have been rolling."

I stared at Chad, trying to put together the pieces. "Why was he even here?" I asked, pointing in Connor's direction.

"He was asking me to mention his candidate in the movie."

  "What'd you tell him?"

Chad lifted a shoulder. "I tried to be nice, but I told him we weren't interested."

We heard the sound of Connor's tires screeching just as they'd done the night he left my house.

"I don’t think you'll have to worry about him bothering you again." I said.

"Nope. That was awesome. Thanks for that, Angel," Chad said as he went back into his trailer.

"You're hilarious," I said, thinking about the way he gave thanks.

Angel smiled and shrugged. "He got what he deserved."

"He sure did. I did the same thing the last time I saw him, and he sped off the same way."

  "Wait… you hit Connor?"

"Yeah, compared to what you just did, I barely touched him, but I did hit him." I paused, thinking about the scene I just witnessed. I smiled up at him. "It was kind of hot watching you fight."

"Really?" he asked, regretfully. "Would it have been good if I would have kept going? Because I really wanted to—"

"It was good just how it was," I said, using his shoulder for leverage as I popped up to put a kiss on his cheek.

Angel waited for me to get off work before we went home and he made love to me in the passionate yet gentle way he always did—the way a man would make love to his main girl.

  Epilogue

Let me start by saying that Addie, Megan, and I fought tooth and nail for the right to write this epilogue, but I, Charlotte, got the honors based on the fact that my story was the last in the series, and it just made sense for me to wrap things up.

It's been more than a year since the night Angel hit Connor, which was where my story left off. A lot has happened since then, so I'll do my best.

I'll start with a random tidbit. I took Blake to get her first tattoo. We did it while Tom was on a fishing trip. Tom had a cool painting of a pirate ship that she brought in as a reference, and she got it on her side—right on her ribs. I told her that was a hard place for a first tattoo but she was committed to that spot, and it came out looking incredibly beautiful. Tom went nuts for it. He was nuts for her in general. They're as solid as they come and I was happy to have been the one who introduced them.

Addie recently heard from her agent, who said she would be playing piano at the opening ceremony of the next Olympic games. It was two years out, but they were in the planning stages, and Addie knew she'd be playing piano in some capacity. She didn't have all the details yet, but we're all really excited about it. Addie also asked me to mention that she and Drake are, in her words, "The best couple of us all, and are doing great and still madly in love." She also asked me to note that she's so glad she snooped through the hole in the fence, since none of this would have happened if she hadn't.

While we're on the subject of snooping through the fence, I'll go ahead and let you know that Steven graduated high school recently and is planning on starting college next fall. He started dating a girl named Lexie, who is beautiful and way out of his league, and he says jokingly that he owes it all to Angel's six-pack program, but we all know it's because he's precious, and wonderful, and hilarious.

On a side note about Angels six-pack program, Megan seriously did make him business cards that said, train with Angel and get all the bitches you can handle. They were meant to be a joke, but Steven swiped a few of them, resulting in several new clients.

Rory and Megan have perhaps been the busiest of us all. Within the last year, they got married and had a baby girl. They named her Elle Rose, and she officially rules the roost around here. Thor is hilariously protective over her. He watches her like a hawk, and sizes up whoever is holding her. Tom and Rory are both completely whipped too, and we always joke about how bad we feel for her future boyfriends.

In addition to Addie's magic piano bench from book one, Drake has made a few pieces of furniture that seem to have some special mojo about them. One of these pieces happens to Elle's crib, which somehow puts her to sleep instantly no matter what sort of mood she's in.

Angel and I are wonderful. His mom and brothers moved to Miami, and (at Blake's insistence), into the apartment above the fabric store. They've been doing great here. Her goal is to have a house of her own soon, but the house is in a good school district, and Blake said she could stay as long as she liked.

Angel's gym is growing steadily, and he's optimistic about it turning into something we can pass down to our children. We haven't made definite plans for getting married or having babies, but we've been mentioning it more and more, and I can feel we're headed in that direction in the near future.

I started work on my fourth film last week. It was by far the biggest job I've done. It's for Paramount Pictures, and I'm working with a team of three other costume designers on a big-budget period piece. I'll have to be out of town for a few weeks of it, but I'm excited about the prospect of seeing new things and going new places—especially knowing that I have Angel and the rest of my crew waiting for me when I get back.

I had a little paragraph right here that started with the words in conclusion and pretty much restated the fact that we were all happy, well, and very much in love. Megan and Addie, however, proofread this, and both said it was silly for me to end it that way since I already made that point clear.

So sweet dreams, or dulces suenos, as Angel would say, and may love find you just as it found us.
