“There is one other thing that I’d like to ask,” Bernadette said. “A favor of sorts.”
“Sure,” Heather said.
“I know that you daughter writes those wonderful dinosaur detective stories. Do you think she could come to one of these meetings?”
“She would absolutely love that,” said Heather. “As long as you don’t think she’s too young.”
“Delilah thinks it would be a real treat for all the other writers and we’d love to have her,” Bernadette said. “I would have asked her to join today, but apparently it’s Christy’s turn to present, and her romances can get a little steamy.”
“Next week would be great,” said Heather.
The door to the shop opened, and Delilah entered with two other women.
“We’ll let you writers get to work,” Heather said with a smile.
She and Amy said their goodbyes and left the shop. They decided to take another walk down the street together. This time they were feeling more joyful.
“I’ve been thinking about something else,” Amy said. “After seeing all the craziness with people trying to force relationships, I’ve decided not to obsess about a proposal anymore.”
“Really?”
“I mean, I’d still like Jamie to ask me. But I’m going to let it happen when it happens.”
“I think that sounds like a great idea,” Heather said. “You want to hear an even better one?”
“Does it involve donuts?”
“You know it does!”
