by Desiree Lafawn

As I was thinking these thoughts, I felt JJ stir against my side and prepared myself for those little legs and arms to shoot straight out—shoving either Jesse or me off the side of the bed. Instead, JJ’s little body was lifted in the air, and plopped gently on the other side of me, all without waking him. Strong arms rolled me over to my side and a warm leg pressed on top of my hip. “Not this time, kid,” I heard Jesse murmur as he big spooned us both, one long arm thrown over my side and JJ’s as well. He yawned, his beard sticking to the hair on my head like Velcro, and scooting back on his side of the bed to make more room, he slid us all over so JJ wouldn’t be too close to the edge and fall off.

“Is that good, Babe?” he asked sleepily, already snoring softly again before I could even answer.

“Yeah,” I whispered as I snuggled my butt a little closer against his stomach, stealing his warmth for my own. “It’s good.”
