"I'll try not to burn the cabin down trying to cook while you're away," she teased.
He smiled. "You should get some rest. I know I kept you up last night."
"Are you kidding me? I'm ready to do it all over again."
"About that…there's this thing with men of my DNA type. I tend to leave…how can I say this…lasting impressions."
"Lasting impressions," she blurted, laughing out loud. "Of course. Last night was awesome. I know you've been with other women and all, but that was it for me. I came close so many times, but backed out at the last minute. The guys never measured up. And some of them were jerks."
"I'm honored to be your first. Lasting impression just means that my semen may cause you to crave more of me. Kind of like an addiction. The more we're together, the harder it'll be for us to stop, uh…having sex all the time."
"That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me," she said.
He grinned. "Good to know. And the feeling's mutual."
"I'm going to wash clothes today or I'll be wearing this robe the rest of the week," she said.
"You can wear nothing at all too," he said.
She rose from the table with her empty coffee mug. "You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"Uh-huh. Sure would." His gaze followed her all the way to the kitchen sink.
Sonia wanted to drop her robe and tease him until he had no choice but to fuck her again, but she reeled her urges in. The man had a job to get to and she'd already taken enough of his time and plenty of his cock.
He stood up from the table and joined her by the sink. Without saying a word, he captured her lips in a kiss. A blissful feeling washed over her as their tongues met over and over again.
One of his hands had somehow slipped through her robe and his fingers had found her clit.
"You keep it wet and ready until I get back."
My breath hitched as his fingers began pumping into my sex.
"Yes," she moaned, arching into his palm.
He slipped his fingers out of her and she protested by whimpering.
"At this rate, I'll be eating you for dinner," he said, licking her juices off his fingers.
She swatted his chest. "Go get ready for work or you'll be late."
He gave her another small kiss on the lips and then headed back to the room to gather his work clothes.
After cleaning up the kitchen, Sonia ventured into the bathroom to gather her clothes from the hamper. As she passed by the mirror, she caught a glimpse of her reflection. She had a bad case of bed head, but that was expected considering what she'd been doing with Andre for the past twelve hours. Her cheeks and lips were also rosy and flushed. For once, she had a smile on her face that wasn't forced. This wasn't just a crush. She was in love with Andre.
Something else was different about her skin. On her chest, right above her breast was a small red, muted mark. She parted the robe and leaned into the mirror to get a closer look.
Andre had kissed and sucked on her flesh quite a bit, but nothing that would leave behind a mark. And even if he had nipped or bitten her, she would have known. It took her only a moment to realize that the mark resembled an intricate pattern, much like the one on Andre's right shoulder. A circular spiral, several levels deep.
"What the hell?" she whispered to herself.
"What's wrong?"
Andre slipped through the bathroom door. He was already dressed and he had his coat slung over his arm.
"I um…" she breathed. "It's nothing." She pulled the robe tighter on her and then leaned in to kiss him. "I'll see you when you get back."
"I know it's something, Sonia. You know I can detect your uneasiness, right?" He hung his jacket on the door and then proceeded to slip both arms around her waist. "Let's make a promise. No more lies. No more half-truths. I want this to work between us. I promise to tell you everything from now on. The good. The bad. What I'm feeling…"
She nodded. "Okay. No more lies." She parted the robe. "Is this what you meant by lasting impression?"
His gaze fell to her chest. His eyebrows arched downward and then his expression changed from sincere to perplexed.
"You're carrying my mate mark," he blurted out.
"But you didn't bite me."
"No, I didn't. I think we would've remembered that. You told me that if I bit you, you'd bite me right back, remember?"
She chuckled.
He glided his hand across the mark, pressing delicately against the skin.
"A mate mark?"
"Yes. Mate mark. Matching birthmarks that only true mates would share. In a lot of cases, the mark isn't visible until the pair comes together. This only confirms what I already knew."
"Do you mean we're meant to be together?" she asked.
"Yes, that's exactly what I already knew. Once we met one another, nothing could've kept us apart. Not even the union of our parents. This was inevitable."
"And here I was thinking I was just lusting after you because you're sexy, smart, handsome, a good cook, and have a big cock to fuck me with," she teased.
He laughed.
She kissed him, pulling him close and inhaling his scent, taking in his warmth.
"I shouldn't have let you go, Sonia," he said.
"Neither of us had much of a choice. I was a minor and I had to leave. We didn't know what all this meant. I sure didn't. All I knew was that I had a really big crush on you. Nothing I did and nothing you did could change that."
"Do you remember when we first met?" he asked.
"At the annual Tellevue County fair. You were working one of the rides that evening, I think."
"Yes. I was getting ready to report to the main office to clock in when I spotted you and one of your friends waiting to get on the Ferris wheel. You had your hair down. This was before you cut it in a bob. I knew I would get fired if I didn't clock in, but I couldn't stop looking at you. You were so happy. You were beautiful. I could've sworn that when the wind blew, I could smell your perfume. You turned around. I don't know what it was. Maybe you heard my beating heart from some ten feet away…I don't know. But you turned around and looked right at me. I looked behind me and there was no one there. You smiled and waved, and my whole world lit up."
"I remember that. You had the cutest smile. I thought you would come over and say hi, but you looked away and answered your phone," she said.
"Yes, my cell phone rang. It was my mom telling me that I left my name badge in the backseat of her car. Well, I couldn't work without my badge, so I left to go get it. She was waiting out in the parking lot by the car, but there was a man there with her, talking to her. She was grinning and giggling—something I hadn't seen her do in a while. She handed me my badge without ever taking her eyes of the strange man. When I raced off, I could still hear her laughing and flirting with him."
"It was my dad…?"
He nodded. "I found this out eventually."
"That's funny, because the week before the fair, I made my dad swear to me that he'd find a friend. A woman friend. He was so sad and I wanted him happy, even if it wasn't going to be with my birth mom," she told him.
"He listened to you. He really did. I rushed back onto the fairgrounds, but it was more because I wanted to see if you were still there, and not because I was already late reporting to my post. You were gone. I think maybe you'd gotten on the Ferris wheel or something. My mom started dating the strange man almost immediately. I didn't think anything of it because she was always dating someone, but this man actually had the ability to tell jokes that made her laugh. The next time I saw you, I was working at a car wash that happened to be located in the same lot as a movie theater. The same strange man that was dating my mom pulled up in his little red BMW and you and your friends got out of the car. My sense of hearing is…well…exceptional. Before leaving, the strange man handed you a wad of cash and told you to have fun. You said, 'thanks daddy'. That was the first time I ever heard your voice. Despite what I discovered, it was the most beautiful thing I'd
ever heard."
Sonia breathed. "I didn't know about the movie theaters. I remember the second time I saw you was when we ran into each other at the mall. We actually talked that day. My friend thought you were pretty cute too. We talked about your body all day."
Andre laughed. "I'm sure you did."
"I told her you were probably just being nice to me and that you'd never want someone so young," Sonia replied.
"You were so mature. The age thing was the big issue at the moment, but we just kept running into each other like there was no tomorrow. And then we found out that our parents were engaged," he exclaimed.
"Yeah, I really didn't know they were having sex at the time. He kept saying that she was coming to the house to teach him how to cook meals." Sonia laughed.
"Yep, and I just didn't want to believe that their relationship posed a threat to the plans I had."
"The plans?"
"To wait until you were seventeen, so I could take you out on a date," he said.
"Well, that didn't work out, but I'm glad we became friends. But I was so attracted to you that it wasn't even funny."
"I know, right? Do you want to know what selfish thought has stuck with me all these years?"
"What's that?"
"I saw you first. Before my mom and your dad ever laid eyes on each other."
"Yes, you did. You were the first man I fell in love with. You're the only man that I'll have," she said.
Their mouths collided instantaneously and she pressed her needy body up against him.
"Oh, Sonia," he breathed, kissing at the column of her throat.
"It's like an addiction that I can't control. I want to be fucked right now even as we're standing here. I want you so bad."
"Ah, fuck it," he exclaimed.
He parted her robe, pushed it off her shoulders. She let the thick garment fall to the floor. When her gaze dropped to his waistline, she noted the thick erection seeking release. She reached out and undid his buckle, freeing his pulsing cock.
He spun her around and bent her over the sink. Their eyes met in the mirror's reflection. He held her attention, making her watch her own expression as he entered her from behind.
Sonia cried out when he pounded her, burying himself to the hilt over and over again inside her sex. Her pussy milked him with each and every thrust. Her toes curled under her. She grasped the edge of the bathroom counter, bracing herself for the climax building inside of her. His tongue was at the back of her neck, sucking and nipping her sensitive flesh. Their moans of pleasure filled the small space of the bathroom. He fucked her so hard that her feet came up off the floor. His balls slapped against her swollen mound as he took her deeper into their fucking session.
They reached completion together, their climax ascending in harmony. She was still panting and shuddering hard after the orgasm. When he pulled out, his seed and her juices spilled down her inner thighs.
He turned her around. "You okay?"
"Dizzy, but okay."
He frowned. "I was rough with you…"
"I like it like that."
"You sexy tease." He gave her a short kiss.
He grabbed a hand towel, cleaned himself up, and then stuffed himself back inside his jeans.
"Now I really need to run," he said.
"Then go," she told him. "I'm not going anywhere. I promise."
Chapter 14
Three days later, Sonia got the call from the hiring manager at Concord Greenhouse and Nursery. She was on the couch flipping through some old magazines and Andre was watching some sports headlines on television. Her legs were propped up on his lap and his big hands worked magic on the soles of her feet and her toes. They had trekked through the snow yet again to get to the market for essentials. Evidently, Mother Nature wasn't finished just yet and snow continued to accumulate on the ground. Off and on. There would be days when there was no snow at all and then it'd just start right back up again.
She dropped the magazine on the coffee table, picked up her ringing cell phone, and recognized the number immediately.
"Hello?"
"Can I speak to Sonia Bentley please?" the woman on the other end asked.
"This is her."
"Hi Sonia. Remember me? Rachel Collins at CGN."
"Yes." Sonia put both her feet on the floor and slid to the edge of the sofa.
"I've got good news for you…"
Needless to say, the call made her day. She was over the moon with excitement to have secured the internship she wanted.
Andre had picked her up by the waist and swung them around to share in her joy. Her legs were wrapped around him as she gave him a kiss.
"I'm so proud of you, Sonia," he exclaimed.
"Do you know what this means?" she asked, and then answered without waiting for a reply, "I have to start my move like yesterday. I knew I was going to stay, but I'm just so damn excited that I can actually afford to stay."
"You didn't have to worry about all that," he said, as she slid down his body until her feet were touching the floor. Her arms were still wrapped around his neck. "I've got you. We're in this together," he added.
"Yes, everything has fallen into place. We can start planning. Finally."
Sonia's phone rang again and this time, she snatched it up without viewing the caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Hey sweetie!" Her dad sounded chipper than normal on the other end.
"Dad! Guess what?"
"Hmmm…I have a hunch," he exclaimed.
"I got the internship!" she blurted.
"Way to go. I never doubted for a minute they wouldn't like you. You know your stuff and you have a great personality."
"The pay is great too," she said. "I'll be able to afford a rental and have some left over at the end of the month."
"That's good. Very good. Is Andre still there?"
At the mention of Andre, he turned around, ears perked up like he'd heard his name.
"Yes, he is," Sonia replied.
"He must still be contracted to work at that dam in the mountains then, huh?" her dad concluded.
"Dad, don't ruin this day for me," she said. "We're both doing so well. Aren't you proud of us at all?"
"Yes, I'm very proud…of the both of you. You don't fuss and fight and you seem to be getting along alright. Me and my brothers and sisters used to fight like dogs and we were all about four years apart just like you and Andre."
As Sonia's dad spoke of brothers and sisters, Andre's gaze instantly rose to meet hers.
"Yeah, Dad. It's different with Andre and me. We have a great relationship."
"Well, that's good. Listen, I have a good idea. How about I get all your stuff packed and drive it down to Virginia for you?"
"That would be awesome," she said. "I was saving up just in case I needed to move for an internship."
"No need to worry about dipping into your savings. I'll rent one of those trailers, hook it up to the truck, and get some of the guys to help me pile all your boxes in."
"Thanks Daddy."
"Don't even mention it. It should only take a day or so. And then we'll jump in the truck together and come on down."
Sonia cleared her throat. "We?"
"Wanda and me. We'll drive down together. She wanted to visit her sons in Aspen Valley anyway, so this is great timing."
Sonia swallowed. "Um, wasn't there a hearing scheduled for your divorce proceedings?"
"Yeah, there was. We canceled it. That's actually what I called to tell you about. Good news all around, huh? Wanda and I aren't going through with the divorce. We're back together and we're willing to work things out. Isn't that great?"
Sonia covered her open mouth with the palm of her hand, concealing an audible squawk. Disappointment and something akin to an upset stomach rolled through her.
"No…" she whispered.
"No?" Her dad's displeasure with her reply came loud and clear through the phone.
Andre sensed her distress, came up behind her, and
put his hand on her shoulder. At this point, his touch was the only thing serving to keep her from popping a blood vessel.
"Sonia, is something wrong?"
"No Dad…I'm going to call you back."
Before he could protest, she disconnected the call.
Sonia turned around and buried her face against Andre's chest. "What have we done?"
"We've done nothing wrong, Sonia?"
She lifted her gaze to meet his. "Did you hear what he said?"
"Yes. And it doesn't change a thing…unless you want it to."
"No," she said firmly. "I'm not sacrificing my happiness anymore."
Andre smiled and said, "The feeling's mutual. Just remember one thing, Sonia. I saw you first. You're mine. Nothing will change that. Not a piece of paper. Not the rumors. Not the naysayers. Not our parents. Not a marriage certificate. Those things don't matter when the truth rests right before our very eyes." He stroked the mate mark on her chest, reminding her they were now bonded. "Some people go back and forth about who they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Some people just don't know what they want. It's not their faults. But what we have is pure—a love that will never fade. At the end of the day, when everything is said and done, I'll always be yours."
Chapter 15
Just as Sonia’s dad promised, he arrived two days later with a trailer hitched to the back of his truck. They had just pulled the ham out of the oven when her dad and Wanda pulled up. Her dad had a key, yet he still knocked. Sonia was so happy to see both her dad and Wanda that she almost forgot how nervous she was about the dinner and how they planned to break the news about their plans to stay together.
The beautiful Wanda immediately dropped all her bags in the foyer and came rushing inside. She embraced both Andre and Sonia at the same time.
"Oh, I've missed you two so much," she exclaimed, pulling back from the hug to look them over. Then she put her palm against Andre's cheek and said, "My boy. What have you been up to?"
"Workin'. That's pretty much it," Andre replied.
Andre favored his mother. They had the same flawless perfect skin. Wanda's tone was about three shades darker than her son's. They had the same smile—one that lit up the room whenever they were happy. For four years, Wanda had been like a mother to her. She actually told people that she had two moms.
