What She Needed Page 7

  “Oh. My. God.”

He shrugged. “My friend helped me put all my stuff into his car, and I ended up going back to his place for a while.” He held up his finger. “The first thing we did was get high.” Looking at Melissa, he added, “Do you see why I might have wanted to get high at that moment?”

  “Actually, I do.”

“So, we got high, and then we tried to figure out a plan for me. I had no job, no money and no place to stay. I was kind of screwed.”

  “What did you do?”

  “You want the truth?”

  “That’s the option I chose.”

Dylan laughed. “I guess the game is called Truth, Dare or Act.”

  “Exactly.”

“Well, I stole some shit and hocked it.” He held up his hand. “Whoops. Trying not to swear.”

  “I’m not offended.”

“But, yeah, that was how I got a little bit of money so I could at least eat. I also started selling drugs.”

She put her hand on her forehead.

  “You’re judging me,” he said.

“No, I’m not. I will admit, I don’t like that answer, but I can also see that you didn’t have many other options.”

“I didn’t have any other options. I was unemployed and homeless. I did find a job at a trucking company loading stuff, but that was only part time, and it didn’t pay enough to live on, so I had to keep selling drugs on the side to get by.”

“It scares me that this thing at the auto parts store might be similar.”

“I’m definitely not making enough to live on…if I had to pay rent.” He looked up at her. “I’m glad I don’t. And, apparently, I don’t even need to buy food, so that helps, too.”

She smiled. “Save up your money so you don’t need to resort to selling drugs again. You can stay here as long as you need—as long as you keep your act together, that is. If you start screwing up, you’re out.”

He gave one emphatic nod. “Got it. But I haven’t really answered your question. The last time I saw my mom was in the grocery store about nine months after my eighteenth birthday.”

“What did she say to you?”

“Nothing.” His eyes met Melissa’s. “She saw me and just looked away like she didn’t know me.”

“I can’t even wrap my head around that,” she replied. “I mean, my parents weren’t exactly stellar, but they at least wanted us in their lives.”

“I was an inconvenience to my mom from the moment I was conceived.”

Melissa desperately wanted to take Dylan into her arms and kiss away all of the hurt he’d experienced over the years. She knew there was one way to make that happen. “Well,” she began, “are you ready for another round of racing?”

“Yup. I sure am. Maybe we should lower the times a little bit to make it more challenging.”

  “Sounds okay to me.”

They decided on their new times and started a race. While Dylan was able to beat his new time, Melissa wasn’t. “Uh oh,” she said. “Does this mean you get two?”

“It does,” he replied with a grin.

She felt excitement grow inside of her as she waited for her instructions.

“Let me see…for the first one I choose…” he looked over at her and smiled.

Crossing her legs, she bobbed her foot as she waited.

  “Act.”

  “Again, that’s so shocking.”

“I know.” He turned his body so he was facing her. Giving her that devilish squint again, he whispered, “I want you to masturbate and let me watch.”

She felt herself blush. “That’s your first one?”

  “Yup. That’s the first one.”

“You’re going right for the gusto, huh?”

“I’ve been in jail for a really long time.”

She let out a deep sigh. “Well, I guess I lost, so I’d better pay up.” She looked at him. “Can we move this into the bedroom first?”

“Wherever you want.” His giant smile made Melissa feel good.

They walked into Dylan’s bedroom, but before anything started, Dylan said, “Hang on a minute.” He left the room, returning with a kitchen chair. He put it at the foot of the bed and sat down. Leaning back and giving that squint again, he gestured with his hand for her to begin.

She felt awkward as she unzipped her pants and shimmied out of them. Looking up, she noticed Dylan’s face was like stone, his eyes fixed on her panties. She kept her gaze locked on his face while she slid those panties down and revealed herself to him.

  He nodded with approval.

She propped some pillows against the headboard, crawling onto the bed and lying on top of the covers. She spread her legs, giving Dylan the perfect view of her while she slid her fingers down and began to work herself. Upon her own touch, she sucked in a deep breath and arched her back, gripping the bed sheets with her free hand. She closed her eyes, hearing Dylan let out a breathy and slow, “Yeah.” His excitement only inspired her to keep going.

She worked herself slowly at first, opening her eyes back up to watch Dylan’s face. His stare was intense; he looked like he wanted to jump out of the chair and devour her, but he remained seated, just watching.

She continued to rub with one hand as she slid the other one down, working her middle finger up inside of her, making herself crazy. “Oh, God,” she said involuntarily. Her body began to writhe.

Dylan let out a guttural sound, his penetrating brown eyes never leaving the most intimate parts of her body.

Her motion went from slow and steady to more frenzied, and Dylan’s breath sped up to go with it. Soon she was working herself furiously, rubbing with one hand and keeping the other deep inside, stroking that magical spot that Dylan had reached so easily the night before. “Oh, God,” she said again as her toes curled. “This. Feels. So. Good.”

“My God, you are good at this,” Dylan told her.

She wriggled around, working her body, trying to keep herself positioned so Dylan could see. She lifted herself off the bed as the sensation became overwhelming. She released a throaty grunt, saying, “It’s coming. Are you ready for it?”

  “Oh, I’m ready.”

“You’d better be ready. Because. Here. It. Comes.” With that last word, she threw her head back and her whole body shook. Dylan moaned as if he could feel the sensation from his chair. Her body rocked and convulsed as her fingers did their magic, slowing down to a stop as her body relaxed back down on the bed. With a heavy sigh, she slid her fingers away from herself and rested her hands over her head. She kept her legs spread for Dylan while she basked in the glow of the moment.

After a minute she opened her eyes, looking down her body at Dylan. He sat frozen, staring at her, looking more turned on than anyone she had ever seen.

“That was fantastic,” he eventually announced, standing up. He pulled his shirt over his head, revealing the tattoo on his chest that said something in another language. He walked over to her, getting on all fours on the bed. His hair hung down in his face, so he flipped it back with his hand, making Melissa’s breath catch.

His voice was raspy when he whispered, “Why don’t you take that shirt off and let me see those nipples again?”

“And why don’t you take your pants off and let me see that cock again?”

He paused for a moment, looking her in the eye with that devilish smile of his. He crawled back off the bed, standing up, unbuttoning and unzipping his pants. He slid them down, revealing himself to her. She wanted to ravage him in every possible way.

  “Your turn,” he said softly.

She removed her shirt and then reached behind her to unhook her bra. Dylan grunted with approval when she exposed her breasts. “There they are,” he whispered, “those beautiful little nipples.”

Dylan crawled back onto the bed and went straight for her mouth, planting a hungry kiss on her. He started to climb on top of her when she placed her hands on his chest and pushed him off. “Nope. Not this time,” she told him. S
he rose to her knees and forced him down onto the bed. “This time, I’m in charge.”

  Chapter 12

Dylan got a knowing smile on his face. “Are you going to show me what a master can do?”

She hopped on top of him, putting her face just inches from his. “You’d better believe it.” She started kissing his neck, moving her way slowly down his chest. She spent extra time on his tattoos, working them with her mouth, finding herself more turned on by them than she’d ever imagined. At that moment, she wished her hair was as long as Dylan’s so it could caress his skin as it slid down his body. That thought quickly left her head, however, once she worked her way down his past stomach to her ultimate destination.

She took a moment to admire him before planting a gentle kiss on his delicate skin, causing him to moan instantly. She took her time, showering his entire surface with subtle licks and kisses, working her way from top to bottom and back again. “You’re killing me,” he declared, running his fingers through her hair.

She looked up at him and smiled, giving him another long stroke with her tongue. “That’s the idea.”

He stared at her for a moment before burying his head back into the pillow. She continued to tease him, allowing her warmth to rest on his shin, until she herself couldn’t take anymore. She engulfed him in her mouth, taking in as much of him as she could, using her hand to grasp the parts her lips couldn’t reach. She pulled back slowly, creating an intense vacuum, before doing the process all over again.

Dylan voiced his satisfaction with a moan that was so loud that it echoed throughout the room.

She worked her magic for a little while, but she knew she didn’t want it to end like this. She needed him inside of her, so she slid her lips up his length one more time and pulled them off with maddening suction.

  “Oh, don’t stop,” Dylan begged.

“I’m not stopping,” she assured him as she crawled up his body. “I’m just changing gears.”

She went further than she needed to so she could plant a passionate kiss on his lips, inching even higher to dangle her breasts in his face. He eagerly took them in his mouth, feverishly switching from one to the other, clearly so hungry for her he was about to explode. His desire only heightened her own, causing her to break away from his mouth and straddle his hips. She lifted him and positioned him perfectly, feeling him just underneath her. Lowering herself down, he filled every place inside of her. She threw her head back as he eventually reached that extra-sensitive spot that made her crazy.

She sat still for a moment, her eyes closed, feeling too good to breathe. His wet fingertips began tracing gentle circles on her nipples, causing an electric sensation to shoot through her body. Reaching back for Dylan’s knees, she wriggled back and forth, marveling at how his body felt as if it had been made for hers.

She started out slow, trying to maintain control, involuntarily rolling her head from side to side. She heard Dylan whisper, “Mmmm, that’s right,” as he continued to caress her nipples, bringing her that much closer to orgasm.

She pulled her head forward, taking in his face, biting her lip at how utterly amazing he looked. That hair, the face, those tattoos, the uncontrollable fire in his eyes—it was more than she could handle. “Oh, God,” she breathed. “Here comes another one.” Her whole body began to vibrate on him as she felt the climax take over every inch of her.

Strangely, her appetite for him wasn’t quenched when she was done.

She continued to work him, grabbing one of his fingers and wrapping her lips around it, sucking it with the same ferocity she was using on his body. In a way, she wished there were two of him. She inched her lips lower with each stroke as she once again reached the verge of an orgasm.

Although her screams were muffled by his finger in her mouth, they still penetrated the room.

This time she paused, catching her breath, allowing his hand to fall freely to the bed. She looked at his glossy eyes and half-shut lids. His nostrils were flared, and his chest heaved with each breath.

Although he didn’t say it, she could tell he was on the edge.

She smiled at him, knowing she was about to push him right over. She rocked once again, steadily increasing her pace with the guidance of his hands on her hips. His moans grew louder and more intense as she increased her speed. Soon, he let out a throaty yell, closing his eyes and thrusting his head back into the pillow. His whole body convulsed before it relaxed into the mattress, a look of euphoria taking over his face.

  She had gotten to him.

Collapsing on his body, she left him inside of her for a while. They didn’t say anything; the sound of their breathing was all that could be heard. Eventually, she gently lifted off of him, taking her place next to him in bed. She purposely didn’t cuddle with him—she didn’t want to act like she was in love. She just put her head on the pillow and looked at him, drinking in the beauty of his dangerously young face.

He peeked at her out of the corner of one eye, his smile melting her heart. “I guess there’s something to be said for experience, huh?”

She shrugged her one exposed shoulder. “I told you.”

Returning his gaze to the ceiling, he brushed his hair out his face and added, “You weren’t kidding.”

“Well, I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

  “Mm-hmm.”

She nestled into the pillow, savoring the moment, not allowing any negative thoughts to enter her head. She knew she’d be plagued by them later, but she gave herself permission to enjoy the next few minutes without guilt.

“You know,” Dylan began, turning onto his side to face her, “I actually got two racing points, and I only cashed in on one.”

She let out a laugh. “That only counts as one? I would think it would count as three.”

“Nope,” he said innocently. “I only asked for a show. The other stuff was just a side effect. I got that stuff for free.”

“Free? You got that for free?”

“It’s my game, remember? I get to make up the rules.”

  “Oh, you do, do you?”

“I do. And the way I see it, I still have one more request that needs to be honored.”

“I’m not really sure what else I can do at the moment,” Melissa replied honestly.

“I’ll be kind,” he told her, one eye buried adorably in the pillow. “This time I’m going to ask for a ‘truth.’”

Melissa felt herself grow instantly nervous. “Okay.”

With a sympathetic expression, Dylan reached out a hand and tucked a piece of Melissa’s hair behind her ear. Softly, he asked, “Do you love your husband?”

  Chapter 13

The question was shocking. She opened her mouth to say something, although she wasn’t sure what. All that came out was a sound.

“Is that tough to answer?” Dylan asked.

Hearing those words, Melissa snapped into reality. “No, it’s not tough to answer.” She flipped onto her back, putting her hand on her forehead. “The truth is I do love him, although I realize that may be hard to believe considering the circumstances.”

Dylan didn’t say anything. He just propped up onto his elbow.

“I guess the issue is that, sometimes, love isn’t enough.” She tilted her head to face him. “Obviously. I wouldn’t be here if it was.”

  He still didn’t speak.

She let out a sigh. “You’re not making this any easier by not talking.”

  “I’m just letting you vent.”

“I guess I was hoping you’d tell me that I’m not a horrible person.”

“You’re not a horrible person. If anything, I’m a horrible person.”

She raised her eyes to his. “You’re not horrible.”

“You’ve known me less than a week.”

She reached up and placed her hand gently on his cheek. “You’re not horrible.” Returning her hand to her stomach, she looked at the ceiling again. “And I’m glad that you don’t think I am, either.” She considered all of th
e crazy events that had unfolded in the past few days, ultimately saying, “It’s just that…I’m here because my husband isn’t giving me what I need.”

  “I think that’s fairly obvious.”

Her voice was little more than a whisper. “Yeah.”

They were quiet for a while, and then she added, “Love is a funny thing. You know that?”

  “I don’t think I do.”

“Well, it is,” she told him. “God, there was a time that I was so in love with Jim. It used to be so exciting to go over to his apartment when we first started dating.”

“You mean Mike’s apartment?” he said with a laugh.

She made a face of despair. “Oh, God. I’m seriously going to hell.”

  “That makes two of us.”

Grunting, she said, “At least I’ll be in good company.” She let out a little laugh and added, “I was actually talking about when Jim got his own apartment and we had a legitimate relationship. I was crazy about him. I couldn’t get enough of him. And he couldn’t get enough of me.”

  “I can see why.”

She glanced at him again. “Behave yourself.”

He shrugged. “Just making an observation.”

A smile appeared on Melissa’s lips, but then it faded. “I wish it could stay like that forever. How long was your longest relationship, again? Eight months?”

  “Something like that.”

“Then you don’t necessarily know the damage time can do. After eight months, the newness is still there.” Her eyes grew distant. “After eleven years, things can become so mundane.”

“Eleven years,” Dylan muttered. “That means I was ten when you guys met.”

“Oh, God. Is there a place lower than hell that I can go to?”

“I’m not trying to make you feel bad; I’m just trying to gain some perspective. You’ve been with your husband ever since I was stealing beer from the neighbor.”

“And that wasn’t even when we met. That’s how long we’ve been married. We started dating two years before that.”

“Wow, that is a long time.”

“And somewhere along the line, things changed. I wish I could pinpoint a time when it started to happen, but I can’t. In the beginning, we were all over each other. Then we were okay just being near each other. Then we were okay being apart sometimes. Now we’re okay with spending weeks at a time on different continents.”
