She knew what infatuation felt like. It was a crush that lasted all the way from high school and then sizzled out once one went to college. And then, once in college, it started all over again for some other crush. The unpleasant thing about infatuation, was that it didn't last. It sizzled out either soon after getting in a relationship, during that first kiss, or that first time in the sack with that person. It went from being a flaming wildfire to being a slow torturous death, because neither person wanted to admit that they were wrong for one another; so they kept at, not throwing in the towel and eventually growing to hate each other...
This wasn't an infatuated crush, though. This was something entirely different...
What? She couldn't put her finger on it...Yet, she knew these overwhelming, unfamiliar, emotions boiling inside her were like nothing she had ever felt.
While Genevieve wasn't real positive about anything, at that moment, the one thing she was sure about, was that the instant she started feeling these emotions – that instant thunderbolt sensation—was that first glance upon Cirpian; it was like that whole love at first sight myth that she had heard only rumors about, but never had she, herself, experienced. At least, not until that moment. Now, she stood desperately clinging to Cirpian; as he crushed her to his powerful physique – reveling in the feel of his hair and those strong broad shoulders.
As Genevieve clung to him, Cirpian, also, started to feel those exact same emotions, that she was feeling. Yet, unlike her, he had felt these emotions before; for one other person—these emotions hadn't just been an infatuated crush. In those past centuries, since then, he had never felt anything remotely similar for any other woman; except for the one he had lost so long ago. Yet, now, he was feeling something—an overwhelming sensation, that he had thought long dead. He didn't think, he could ever, again, feel something so unbelievably strong as what he was feeling right then; with Genevieve's slender body crushed to his, he had this unbearable desire to just hold on to her and never let go.
It was that second time, during the course of that day, that he wished that he had his sight. Just that one brief look at Genevieve, to see, if possibly, the woman he held in his arms resembled that of his dead unforgotten love.
There was something similar about her scent. Yet, there was also something different about it. He couldn't quite put his finger on what it was. Just that he felt that same desperation as Genevieve, like his soul was about to combust and he was trying to hold on to a flame that would stay lit; so long as their bodies were crushed together and their mouths were passionately bonded– stubbornly, unyielding—to each other.
It was at that moment, as he felt his desire about to boil over, that he heard her – an unfamiliar woman's accented voice.
“Help us.”
The voice was faint, but as his hearing gradually replaced his desire, the voice became more distressed.
“Help us...! Someone please help us!”
When Cirpian abruptly stopped kissing her, and, subconsciously pushed her away, Genevieve couldn't help being surprised and disappointed. Yet, no sooner had she felt these two emotions, were they just as quickly replaced with concern by the worried frown on his face.
If the look on his handsome chiseled face was any clue, she now knew that his attention was no longer on her and something else entirely. While she should have felt offended—one minute he was passionately kissing her – lighting this powerfully, overwhelming, flame inside her—and the next he was pushing her away because he had gotten easily distracted by something—she wasn't.
“Something wrong?”
“Help us..., please help us!”
The voice in his head, was getting more persisted. And it now had taken to screaming at him.
As he stood there wanting to pull Genevieve back into his arms, he found himself trying desperately not to focus on that desire or how the unfamiliar woman's persisted voice was making his head hurt. Yet, he didn't want Genevieve to become more worried than she already was or, for that matter, suspicious.
Staring into Genevieve's concerned brown pools, he said, “Nothing...” he smiled.
“Oh, God...! Someone please help us!”
“I just have an early morning tomorrow.”
Smiling, Genevieve, taking him by the arm, tried pulling him toward her apartment's door. “You can stay the night and...” when she noticed how he was unmoving from his spot, she said, “or not.”
Pulling her into his arms, he said, “I want to...,” she smiled. “but I can't.” when the smile quickly disappeared from her face, he kissed her.
“I'll call you.”
Smiling sorrowfully, she said, “Yea..., that's what they all say.”
Taking her face in his hands, he caressed her soft cheeks and kissing her again, he whispered against her lips, “I mean it...I will call you.”
Before she could say anything else, he turned on his heels and swiftly made his way down her apartment's stairs and around the bend to his SUV.
He had just reached his Outlander, when he was instantly taken off guard by this unfamiliar male voice.
“Ah baby, the Sandman is definitely not happy with you....What does this fucker have that I don't?”
It was the hostile profanity in this man's voice, that brought him up short in his tracks, and stretching his senses, he heard the voice more clearly – like the person was standing not but a few inches away from him. “Ah baby, I'm going to fuck you so hard.” the unfamiliar male voice laughed. “Then I'm going to drain you.”
It wasn't just that voice that had him on alert, it was the owner's stench—a stench that was not at all human.
“I'll be better than him, baby...I'll force you to like it.”
It was that statement, that had him moving toward the male voice. Yet, he halted abruptly in his tracks, when he heard the woman again; this time, if it was possible, she'd gone up even higher in desperation, “Please help us...! Someone please help us!!!”
As Cirpian stood there, utterly conflicted over what he should do. He realized that he had only two options.
He could go after the asshole in front of him, who was already starting to move away.
Or, he could try and help the woman, who was desperately needing someone to come to her rescue.
There was a definite chance, that if he didn't respond to the woman, she, and whoever was with her, would be dead in a matter of minutes. Stretching his senses, he knew that Genevieve was safety inside. She was disappointed, he could sense that from her smell and how she was muttering to herself. Yet, she was safe and so, as much as it enraged him to do so, he would let whoever this was live for the time being.

Angelia Ramon, was not but a few miles from home, when she got that flat tire.
Now she was stuck on a bad part of Tucson, trying to change her tire and praying to God that she could do it without someone coming upon her.
In this day and age, it was best not to be too trusting towards those willing to help you—there could be an ulterior motive behind these individuals' offer of help.
She had just gotten the flat off of the car, and was putting the spare on, when she felt it.
This unbearable chill.
It was unnaturally strange for Tucson's summer weather – especially during a summer night.
It was such a surprising feeling, that she subconsciously dropped her tire iron.
As she stood there, breathing out this cold vapor, that was even more surprising than the chill, that had found it's way into her clothes; she tried rubbing away, not just the cold that was now laying waste to her naked flesh, but this unsettling feeling of something being horribly wrong.
Yet, no matter how hard she rubbed, all she successfully ended up doing was bruising herself.
Hastily looking around at her surroundings, it was then that she noticed the fog. Fog that hadn't been there before, was now seeping into her clothes.
It was just as the fog was becoming even more dense, that she tried peering through it.
r /> Gradually her eyes started to adjust and penetrate through the dense fog, and that was when she saw five silhouettes coming toward her – they were walking unnaturally fast.
Whatever these silhouettes were—just by how flexibly stealthy they were—told her they were definitely not human.
While her brain was telling her to move and get back into the car, for some strange reason..., she couldn't. So transfixed was she by these individuals, that she found her legs instantly paralyzed in place.
If it hadn't been for the car door suddenly coming open, she probably would have continued to stand frozen in place—in a hypnotic state.
“Mommy..., I have to go potty.”
It was her five year old's voice, which had her quickly coming out of her trance. And after grabbing her daughter, she swiftly got her and herself back into the car.
Once she had quickly closed the car door, she hastily retrieved her keys from her pocket and clicked her fob's lock button.
No sooner had the lock clicked, was the first silhouette ramming itself into her car—violently and successfully pushing the car off the jack.

When first seeing the Sandman on his doorstep, Victor Stormer, had not known what to think – he had witnessed him carried out in a body bag.
They all had.
At first, Victor had thought his drug stupor was making him hallucinate.
Yet, once the surprise, and his high had worn off, Victor and the rest of them had gradually come to terms that the Sandman was, in fact, not dead, but very much alive. Or as alive as they could only hope to be. It had taken the Sandman showing them how truly indestructible he was, for them all to want what he was offering them.
Immortality.
The ability to do whatever they wanted to do without any consequences. Yet, there were draw backs, that the Sandman had, intentionally, forgotten to inform them about—they were now enslaved to these unbearable blood impulses.
Regardless of this, they had accepted whatever it was that the Sandman had offered them.
In the beginning, they had thought the whole thing to be just a weird drug. Yet, it had turned out to be more than just that. The moment they had all been changed, they couldn't stand the lure of the blood outside – luring them into a darkness, that was even more alluring than the life they had all known.
All of them had been guilty of something horrific. Victor had molested his sixteen year old cousin and then been arrested for trying to rape another sixteen year old.
Yet, now that they had no worries or boundaries, they could do whatever they wanted to; the sky had no limit—except, that is, the sun.
They had already succeeded at killing everyone in their apartment building, and that had satisfied the blood lust – somewhat.
Now, though, they were back to trolling and looking for more prey. It hadn't taken long for them to find it. An unsuspecting woman and her children. The children would be fairy easy to kill – possibly even fun to play with, before killing. Yet, the woman would most likely put up a fight; the others had—they had fought hard and then, toward the end, they had begged for their lives.
While the Sandman had warned them to be conspicuous and keep their eyes out for a legendary vampire slayer, neither of them had put much thought into his warning.
The way Victor and his buddies viewed it, was that this vampire slayer would be easy enough to kill—after all there were five of them and just one of the slayer.
Yet, while Victor felt some reassurance over this thought, there was still this smidgen of doubt lingering in the back of his mind – those two cops hadn't been so easy to kill. In fact they had both gotten away, with that bitch, who had threatened to shove her gun up his ass, almost running him over; maybe when he was done here, he would look that bitchy cop up.
As they came upon the car, Victor noted that the woman, while she had been out of the car trying to change her flat, was now back inside, cowering, by the smell of it, in her back seat with her two kids.
It was the fear that was emanating off of her that fed, not just him, but his four compadres – they all felt an immense high.
As he enjoyed the intoxicating aroma, he slammed himself into the car, knocking it off the jack. Once the car had rolled a few inches, they then all jumped up on to it and started slamming their fist into it.
Victor's fist had already cracked the windshield. One more punch and his buddies and him would be inside and their prize would be theirs; before ramming the car, he had gotten a pretty good look at this woman—she was a looker. Long dark brown hair, brown skin, brown eyes, and – considering that she had already had two brats—a nice figure.
While he had thought the kids would be nice to torture for awhile, Victor was now contradicting his and his buddies intentions. They would drain the kids quickly, and take their time with the woman – she would definitely be fun to have.
As he drew back for another punch, that was when he felt it—unbelievable power.
He had never felt anything quite like this – not even in his friend, the Sandman.
It was the arrival of this new powerful force, that alerted him that what or whoever this was, while like him and his friends, was very different—there was something unnatural about this...this...this vampire.
With his fist in mid-air, Victor turned to look at this stranger.
“Who the hell are you?!” he growled through clenched teeth.
It was as his gaze went over this new arrival, that he noted his masculine physique and there was some object hanging off of his hip; which Victor couldn't get a good look at.
Possibly it was this stranger's strong demeanor, that had this instant fear boiling up inside him.
Yet, no sooner had he felt this fear, was it quickly replaced with the overwhelming blood lust, that was coursing through him. He had no intention of letting this woman go. And he definitely wasn't going to share her with another vampire. It was bad enough that he had to share her with his four compadres, but he'd be damned if he had to with this prick.
“You can't have her!!!” when all the stranger did was stand there, still stoically looking at him, he spat out, “She's mine...!”
Turning to look up at his cousin, who like the other four, had automatically stopped with what he was doing, he said, “Ir manejar ese culo limpie..”
Antonio, Victor's cousin, wasn't too smart. He was an illiterate, that didn't speak any English. Yet, what he lacked in smarts, he made up in strength. He was a big brawny fellow, who had beaten to death hundreds of men – men bigger than the fucker in back of them. So, Victor was confident that his cousin would wipe the floor with their uninvited guest.
Yet, from the apparent look on Antonio's face, he too had his doubts about approaching this stranger.
“Antonio, que no es tan grande...que va a ser fácil.”
When Antonio smiled that yellowed tooth grin of his, and said, “Bueno, voy a manejarlo.” Victor instantly relaxed, he knew that his cousin had this well in hand.
After Antonio jumped off the car, slamming his fist into his hands, and shouting, as he made his way over to the stranger, "Señor, estás muerto!!!" Victor couldn't help chuckling at the image that he got in his head at the pain, that Antonio would inflict upon their uninvited guest.
Once Antonio had disappeared into the fog, Victor smilingly shaking his head, said to the others, “Since Antonio has our problem handled..., lets get back to our prize.”
After sharing a good laugh, with his buddies, Victor, looking through the cracked window, could see that the woman's baby was no longer in his car seat. In fact, he couldn't see any of them any more. Yet, upon sniffing and closer inspection, he knew that they all three were huddled on the backseat floor – the kids were crying and the woman was praying to God to help her.
Yet, nobody was going to help her.
Whoever that stranger was, whether he would have helped her or not, Victor was positive that Antonio would handle him.

sp; Angelia, didn't know what to do. The moment the first strange silhouette slammed into her car, she had been taken off guard.
Yet, when all the silhouettes started slamming against the car, she couldn't help but shriek out, “Please stop...!!! Please someone help us!!!”
No sooner had she started screaming, though, did her baby and five year old start crying.
“Mommy...,” her daughter, who was clinging to her, cried out. “please make it stop!!!”
As she stared at her five year old, her brain was having a hard time digesting the fear on her daughter's face. It wasn't just her daughter's fear, though, but it was that consistent screaming, from her and her children, that had her drawing a blank on what to do. Yet, because she was so overwhelmingly panic-stricken, she couldn't think straight.
That is, until she heard the voice.
“Every things okay..., Angelia...I'm here, now.”
Curiously looking down at her daughter, she could see her crying. Yet, because of that pleasantly, sensual, voice, she couldn't hear her, “Get down on the floor, with your children..., and I'll handle every thing.”
When the pounding suddenly stopped, Angelia didn't even try to figure out what was happening. Unbuckling her two month old son, she first grabbed him and then her daughter. After they had gotten down on the car floor, she waited.
For what? She wasn't entirely sure.

It had been those innocent, terrified, cries that had him now standing there, listening to the destructive wreckage going on around him. The loud noise, that these fledgelings were making, was enough to wake the dead.
It had to be fledgelings?
He had known from the moment he smelled them, that they were vampires.
But fledgelings.
These kinds of vampires were not just unbelievably dangerous, but destructive.
It was because of their newness, that they were not to be taken lightly. They had no self-control, and to top it off their horrible blood lust made them unbelievably strong.
Confoundedly shrugging his shoulders, he started planning his whole battle strategy. He knew that he was out numbered. Yet, where he lacked that kind of new vampire strength, he had other abilities that these fledgelings wouldn't live to tell their buddies about.
