A Note from the Author
This is my favorite book I’ve written so far, because it holds so many of the things I love best—romance, mystery, humor, Britain, Appalachia, big families, adorable kids, fun banter, swoony heroes, lovable heroines, and God’s grace. Some people might even find glimpses of characteristics resembling some of my own family members from my wonderful and big Appalachian family. Some of those resemblances will be on purpose…some by accident ;-)
In Appalachia, storytelling is an important part of the culture. I grew up listening to my Granny Spencer tell family history stories from five generations back—some stories more amazing and unbelievable than fiction—but what I love most about my culture is the importance of family. There’s a bond, solidarity, and ‘bigness’ to how we view our families.
Thankfully, my big Appalachian family also understood the power of God’s grace to transform generations. I’ve loved researching my family history and discovering the thread of God’s redemption woven throughout hundreds of years of members in my family to make it to my life. Now that’s a story!
I’m so thankful I got to bring the sense of family—from both sides of the Pond—to life in this book. I hope you enjoy this lighthearted look at a Britallachian romance—a combination of two amazing cultures and the fun that we can uncover together through fiction.
