  “Jo, I’m going to…Jo.”

She knew he was warning her that he was going to come and instead of verbally answering him she took him in further than before, hummed to give him the vibrations in the back of her throat and stroked his balls.

Wes exploded; his hips pressed his flesh into and out of her mouth. Jo tasted the warm salty maleness as it filled her mouth. She swallowed and licked his pulsing cock until he could barely stand.

Wes reached down and pulled a smiling Jo to her feet. His eyes were hard to read and he didn’t have a smile on his face anymore, something else replaced his sweet look. He gathered her in his arms and gave her a kiss that betrayed his emotions.

Wes lifted her up and placed her on the bed. He then removed her skirt and thong. When she was totally naked she lay on top of the covers and reached for Wes. He moved closer to her and kneeled next to the bed, and simply ran his hands up and down her body.

“You are so beautiful Jo. I could touch you forever.”

Wes continued to run his hands up and down her body, stopping to circle her breasts and then trailing his fingertips towards her pubis. Wherever his hands went Jo was left quaking. He then started to follow his fingertip trail with his lips darting his tongue out to taste her skin.

He circled her breasts and Jo felt his tongue leave a warm damp trail she tried to move her body so he would touch her diamond hard nipples but Wes moved too quickly. Jo grunted her disapproval and it made Wes chuckle.

“Don’t worry baby. I’ll take care of you. I’ve just been imagining this for weeks now and I want to take my time.”

Jo liked his answer but she was so hot that she was going to come just from his foreplay. Finally Wes swirled his fingers then his lips around a nipple and when he latched on and sucked Jo’s back bowed with the intense pleasure. Her core was wet and she had delicious zings of sensation pinging from her breasts to her lower lips.

Wes paid equal attention to her other breast and the one that was not being sucked on was being masterfully attended to by his fingers. Jo ran her fingers through his thick hair loving how he felt. Wes now leaned in and lowered his body to the bed and positioned his body on top of hers resting up on his forearms. He then kissed her stupid. Jo wrapped her legs around his athletic hips and tried to grind against him.

“Jo, I will take care of you just let me play a little longer Honey.” He admonished in a teasing tone.

Jo loved that he had just called her ‘honey’. She tried to distract herself by rubbing her hands over his back and sides. She could feel his toned contoured shape and wanted to run her tongue over the muscles she couldn’t see.

Wes slid lower kissing his way to her trimmed pussy. Jo was squirming she was so primed. When he reached her soft lips he sat back on his heels and ran his hands gently over her mons. His fingers came away glistening from her wetness and Jo became embarrassed at his intimate perusal so she looked away.

“Look at me Jo.” He said softly.

Jo returned her eyes to the magnificent man kneeling between her splayed thighs; the man who was beginning to occupy a piece of her heart. With a sexy smile he drew the fingers that he had just run through her nether lips slowly into his mouth. Her breath caught in her throat the image was so erotic.

Wes moaned his approval. “I need to taste you baby.”

Wes leaned down and ran his tongue through her folds, up and down. Jo held on to his hair like it was a life-line. She made sure she wasn’t pulling on it, but she was so out of her mind that she could have been and wouldn’t even have known it.

Wes pushed her thighs further apart and used his fingers to spread her lips away from what he really wanted to enjoy. His thumbs breached her cores entrance and Jo whimpered. His fingers caressed the sides of her pearly clit and then he thrust his tongue into her hot tight channel.

Jo began to moan incoherently. She had never been this turned on and she felt like she was going to combust.

“Wes, Wes, Wes.” She panted. Her body was on fire and a tight twirl began to claw at her begging for release.

Wes continued to hold her open but he licked his way to her quivering nub and circled it lazily with his tongue. Jo knew if he even so much as breathed on it she would explode. He inserted one finger into her, moving it in and out and around, preparing her for more. Then he added a second finger. Jo was tight and she felt deliciously full.

Wes lifted his head up to look at Jo’s face. “Don’t even think about closing your eyes Jo.” He said huskily.

Wes pressed both fingers towards her front finding her elusive g-spot and then he captured her needy bundle of nerves in his mouth and sucked. Jo imploded. Her entire body bowed tight then shook as wave after wave of orgasmic jolts of sensation swept through her entire little body.

Wes rode out her bucking hips lapping up her sweet essence. When he was satisfied that he had rung out every tiny ripple from her quaking body he crawled back up her torso and threaded his fingers through her hair. Their faces were inches apart and their eyes searched each other for some mutual understanding of what they were both feeling.

They kissed and then Wes pulled back to look her in the eyes again. “That was wonderful.”

Jo blushed but splayed her hands on his cheeks and smiled up at the handsome man that had just rocked her world.

“You are a talented man Wes.” Jo said seductively.

“You are quite talented your self my Jo.” He placed a sweet kiss on her nose.

Jo heard a low rumbling sound and Wes cussed getting out of the bed to rummage through his pants on the floor. When he produced his phone he grimaced punched in a text and sat back down on the bed.

“Thank you for last night and this morning.” He said.

“You have to go?” Jo said not able to keep the disappointment from her voice.

  “I do.”

Wes gave her another kiss this one on her forehead. Then he stood and put on his clothes. He nodded towards a door in her room.

  “Bathroom?”

“Yes.” Jo answered as she lay watching him dress.

Wes went into the bathroom, shut the door and returned a few minutes later looking fresher and more rested than he did last night.

  “I’ll call you Jo.”

She didn’t like how he was sounding so distant already and when she tried to get up to walk him to the door he pressed her back onto her pillow and told her he’d find his way out.

Once again he thanked her and Jo listened as he moved around in her living room she knew he was putting on his shoes and socks that he had removed last night. She then heard the door open then close.

Jo got out of her bed and lifted a corner of her shade to watch him get in his car. He was talking on his phone somewhat animatedly and all the concerns that Jo had been experiencing resurfaced. What if he had a girlfriend and he was just using her as a fling? She didn’t think he’d be that kind of man, but his mysterious phone calls, odd hours and secrecy had planted a seed of doubt. If it was work related why couldn't he just tell her that?

What they had shared that morning had been unbelievable. It had been sweet and emotional, yet hot and wonderfully sensual at the same time. Her body had responded to Wes in ways she'd only read about. She had never climaxed that hard, ever, and the memory of it made her shiver. Even more importantly was how Wes had acted towards her. He had been tender, passionate, and so wickedly sexy. There was no way he could be that amorous with her and then leave to be with someone else. Could he? Jo pushed the question away. She needed to stop over analyzing everything and enjoy their time together. It had to be work related. Right?

Jo got back into her bed and snuggled into the sheets that now smelled like sex and Wes. She inhaled the pillow he had slept on and giggled. Before she drifted back off to sleep, her last thought was that she could easily fall in love with the man.

  Chapter 14

  Jo

Jo didn’t hear from Wes anymore on Saturday, but since she was still on cloud nine from
their hot, morning session she wasn’t worried. She ran with Nick in the afternoon, then lazily watched television for the rest the day. She was willing her phone to ring or ping with a text, but it remained quiet. One thing she had come to a decision about was to ask Wes, flat out, where she stood with him. She was simply going to explain that his elusiveness made her uneasy.

Sunday morning Nick knocked on her door with bagels and insisted they go for drinks after he finished work on Monday since they had missed their normal Friday Happy Hour together.

On Monday morning, after two days of waiting for her phone to ring or ping, she finally got a text from Wes.

  Miss you

Jo decided not to return it right away. She didn’t want to play games with him but she hated that she was always waiting for him to connect with her. Did he already think she was always going to be available when he wanted her to be?

Monday night was a beautiful evening and Jo and Nick sat out on the terrace at their favorite Mexican restaurant. Jo was on her second margarita and having a good time. This was why she liked spending time with Nick. They were good friends, could converse easily, and they found the same things funny. Nick told Jo about the girl he was dating, which put Jo at ease. He asked about Wes and she told him that she did like Wes, and that they’d had a nice date the week before, and had dinner last night. Nick had not spent the night at his place last night so Jo knew he had no idea that Wes had slept over. She did tell him that whatever job Wes was on kept him busy, and that they talked on the phone a lot or texted. She could tell Nick wanted to say something to her but he remained quiet, which Jo appreciated. She knew Nick was not a fan of Wes'.

By Jo’s third margarita she was feeling deliciously buzzed. Nick had her laughing at stupid lawyer jokes, and she was matching his funny stories with ones of her own from the paper. Nick excused himself to use the restroom and Jo, with alcohol induced bravado, decided to call Wes. She’d never called him before but she figured if he was busy he didn’t have to answer the phone.

Jo dialed the number he had given her and heard it ringing. On the fourth ring he answered. “Jo?”

“Uh, hi.” Jo could hear laughter in the background and it was not a male's voice.

“Everything alright?” Wes asked. He sounded agitated, she then heard him speak to some one and she heard a female giggling. Jo felt her stomach bottom out.

“Yeah, I just wanted to say hi.” Jo said suddenly feeling foolish.

“Oh, uh, I wish I could talk to you Jo but…”

Jo could hear a female voice asking Wes to ‘come here.’ She could tell Wes had tried to cover his phone to mute out the voice.

  “I’m sorry Wes I shouldn’t have called.”

“Yeah, it’s not a good time.” Jo was crushed and before she could say goodbye the phone went silent. He had hung up.

Jo put her phone away before Nick came back and took a huge gulp of her drink. By the time Nick got back to the table Jo had composed herself, outwardly anyway. Inside she was a mess. She couldn’t believe she’d been so stupid about Wes.

He was with a female that was obvious. He had clearly been annoyed that she had called him, and now she wished she’d never had. The strong woman in Jo chastised herself telling her it was good that she had called. It was better to find out now then if she became really invested in the jerk.

Nick started chatting and Jo tried to concentrate on what he was saying, but inside she was numb.

“Jo? Jo?” Nick snapped his fingers in front of her face.

“Oh, sorry Nick I zoned out.” Jo tried to smile.

“Do you want dinner?” Nick asked.

“I, uh, sure, let’s eat.” Jo said with more cheerfulness than she was feeling.

They ordered and luckily Nick kept the conversation alive. Jo picked at her quesadilla and when Nick had finished his dinner and the waitress returned to clear the plates she asked her to box up the leftovers.

“You didn’t eat much Jo, is everything alright?”

“I’m just not that hungry. I had a late lunch.” She lied.

Jo told Nick that she had a headache, which wasn’t a lie, so Nick signaled for the check. She didn’t even argue when Nick offered to pay.

The early evening weather had cooled to a comfortable temperature and Nick and Jo leisurely strolled home. When they got to their doorsteps Jo had a feeling Nick was going to suggest they hang out so she quickly reminded him of her headache and said she wanted to lie down.

Nick was concerned that she didn’t feel well and gave her a sweet kiss on her forehead before telling her to call him if she needed anything. It reminded Jo of the night before when Wes had said practically the same thing and it brought tears to her eyes. Jo ducked her head so Nick would not see them. She thanked him for dinner and made a clean getaway into her home.

Jo sat on her couch and let the tears stream down her face unchecked. She didn’t understand Wes. Why would he be so romantic and caring with her last night only to hang up on her tonight? Then Jo remembered hearing the girl’s voice. Her stomach clenched and Jo ran for the bathroom making it there just in time to empty her stomach.

That evening Jo did not work on her article; she just could not concentrate. She felt stupid and hurt. She knew she and Wes had only been on two dates and that he had never mentioned that they were exclusive, but she still couldn't believe how callous he had been. Jo sighed heavily knowing she had just lived up to her typical M.O. She fell hard and fast when it came to men. Jo had not had too many men that she had deemed worthy to fall for, but when she did she was a goner.

Jo watched television until she fell into a restless sleep. When the birds started tweeting at dawn Jo gave up and got out of bed. She cleaned her townhouse throwing herself into the mindless chore. When she finished she went on line looking for singing jobs and even emailed a few possible leads. She then tossed on her work out clothes and headed out for a run. There was no way she was running the lake route today so she plugged in her Strava App and found a new route that went no where’s near Wes’ condo.

Jo pounded the sidewalk as her workout playlist played on her iPhone. Pleased that there were no other people outside yet, on what was sure to be a beautiful Tuesday, Jo extended her workout. She ran through a small wooded area that she never knew existed.

She realized the dirt trail was probably popular for people who walked their dogs since there were dog waste bags and receptacles every quarter mile. Halfway around the secluded trail Jo came to a small footbridge with a creek running underneath it. She crossed it and then had to choose between two paths. In her peripheral vision she saw a dark blur to her left. With her ear phones in she hadn't heard anything and when she quickly turned she saw a black lab scampering over the bridge. It was so sudden that it scared the shit out of her. The dog crossed the bridge, ran underneath it, and Jo watched it splashing happily in the rocky waters below.

Jo took out her ear buds and could hear its owner calling for the dog. Happy that it wasn't a pet in need of rescue Jo reinserted her ear buds and after catching her breath she chose the opening on her left. This trail went uphill and when Jo reached the top she was so thoroughly winded she had to stop. The view was beautiful and she decided to relax for a few minutes, so she found a tree to lean back against. She looked at her Strava App and saw that she’d already logged five miles. Jo remained at her quiet vista and tried to enjoy the view but thoughts of Wes invaded her so she finally gave up and ran back down the remote trail.

When Jo got home Nick was sitting on the front step, shirtless and looking yummy in his running shorts.

“I was worried. You didn’t run our loop.” He was sweating from his own workout and Jo watched a bead of his sweat run down his carved abs. She saw Nick smile and she blushed knowing he'd caught her ogling him, again.

“No I explored.” Jo said as she threw herself on the grass to stretch.

“What did you find?” Nick asked excited about a possible new running path.

Actually it’s pretty cool.” Jo said placing her forehead on her extended legs. Nick waited for her to straighten up. “I ran into the Fickle area, you know by that run down bar we went to last year?”

  “Tubbie’s?”

“Yeah and I found a trail that leads to that big National Park area. I ran the lower trail and then ran up the trails in the Park. When I got to the top of the hill I rested and walked most of the way back.”

“Wow that’s one heck of a run.” Nick was impressed. “I feel like a slug, I just ran our loop. I was hoping I’d catch up to you.”

“Sorry I was out pretty early.”

“So you’re feeling better I take it?”

“Yeah, thanks and thanks for last night. I’ll pay for our next dinner.”

“That’s a date.” Nick said enthusiastically.

  “Uh Nick…”

“Oh sheesh Jo, I’m kidding, it’s a friend date, are you happy now?”

  Jo giggled.

“Yes thank you.” She stood up saying goodbye to Nick. She was drenched in sweat and wanted a shower.

Her run had put her in a better frame of mind. She had looked at her and Wes’ fledgling relationship from his point of view. They were not committed to each other. They’d had a fun couple of dates. Maybe he had a few girls that he hooked up with on occasion. She had thought that perhaps they had been headed towards something special, something exclusive, but she must have misread his signals.

Jo thought about Jill and wondered if she had been the girl he had been with. For some reason she didn't think so. Wes had said there was nothing between them and she believed him. Even with her rationalizing and analyzing, Jo still smarted from Wes’ brush off. She knew she had blinders where men were concerned, but he had her totally convinced that he had been just as into her as she was with him. Jo decided she would forget him and focus on finding a job, working on her article and working out. If she stayed busy she wouldn’t think about him. Well she wouldn’t think about him as much as she had been anyway.
