* This is not to say that some of these moments don’t deserve all the commentary they got. For example, there was the idiotic parody letter that the Tea Party leader Mark Williams wrote in July 2010 to “Abraham Lincoln” on behalf of the “NAACP,” which had just called on Tea Party chapters to distance themselves from racist commentary.
