They were just nice enough to allow me to use their shit.
Dr. Jordan Will is looking forward to the birth of her baby and a happy future with the private investigator, Cameron Baptiste, a gorgeous man who's sworn that he will love her child as his own. But when her past comes calling, Jordan is forced to turn away from Cam.
Cameron Baptiste wanted the gorgeous doctor from the moment he met her. He managed to win her over—only to have her lock him out of her life. Worse: Outlaw Caldwell, president of the Death Dwellers MC, is growling about protecting Jordan from danger.
What Outlaw doesn’t understand is that Jordan is his, and no one is going to kick the ass of any danger to Cam's family except for him. He’ll do anything to protect Jordan and the baby. Anything.
This is a friends-to-lovers story, filled with sexual tension, intrigue, action, and the most notorious MC president around.
First, I’d like to thank Crystal Cuffley. She’s always there when I call to create outstanding covers for me. Words can’t express how much I appreciate her.
Finally, I’d like to thank the fans of the Death Dwellers. Without your continued calls for more of Outlaw and crew, I couldn’t do this. You all inspire me and add an extra dimension to my love of writing.
Greg Williams, I’m proud to know you and glad to have you as my friend.
Kim Castillo & Mary Bly, you are proof that there are living angels.
Alegra Ferdinand, you are so smart. I’m delighted that you have gotten the hang of Photo Shop, when it drives me insane. You and your sisters are my pride and joy. If you didn’t want fifty dollars an hour to teach me, I’d take Photo Shop lessons from you. I love you very, very much.

“Blank plus blank equals blank,” Dr. Jordan Will read from the black card in her hand. Cards Against Humanity had become her absolute favorite game, since Cameron Baptiste introduced it to her a few weeks ago. She glanced at her friend, Roxanne Doucette. “You have to draw two cards from the deck, and then hand me three.”
“Shit, girl,” Roxy grumbled. “I have fuck-all in my hand.”
Her boyfriend, Knox Harrington, snorted. “That means you have nothing that mention dick, pussy, cum, or something sadistic.”
“Fuck off,” Roxy said without heat. “Who was the motherfucker yawning a little while ago because all the answers were logical?”
Knox scowled, and Jordan hid a grin. Roxy and Knox were as unlikely a couple as Jordan and Cam. The thought made her frown at the card in her hand. The words she’d read moments ago blurred. Cam was just a good friend. Nothing more. Never mind the fact that she felt a flash of heat every time his hand brushed hers. He was Knox’s partner at B & H Investigations. That’s why he was with them tonight. Not because…not because of her. He couldn’t be more than a friend.
How could he be? She was pregnant with another man’s baby. No matter what type of snake-in-the-grass Sulley had been, she couldn’t bring herself to go to the next level with Cam, while she carried Sulley’s child. Despite the heat and tension between her and Cam. Despite the fact that he’d shielded her from Sulley’s wrath and become her best friend.
Despite the fact that he was a good guy with bad boy qualities. His motorcycle, for instance. As soon as she recovered from the delivery of her baby, Cam had promised to take her for a spin.
She couldn’t stop herself from looking at him. Their gazes met. The light reflecting in his eyes showed their brown color. It told her that he felt the sparks between them, too, but respected the boundaries she’d placed on their relationship.
Roxy snapped her fingers in front of Jordan’s face, breaking her stare-off with Cam. “Hello, stop eye-fucking the man and play the damn game, sugar. My pussy has a date with Knox’s dick and you’re holding us up.”
Cam chuckled, but a tinge of red crept into Knox’s face. His crooked nose and broken teeth softened his arrogance. He intended to get plastic surgery and false teeth to repair the damage he’d received to his face, a few weeks ago, during a fight.
“Jordan!” Roxy called.
“Oh, um, I need your cards,” Jordan managed. She couldn’t become too attached to Cam. Her baby would consume her time, then she’d return to her medical practice. There was no space in her life for a man.
What she and Cam had going was good, but their daily calls and enormous amount of time they spent together couldn’t last. In fact, she should probably break it off.
“Fuck, I quit,” Roxy said in disgust. She threw her cards down and stood. “My pussy’s been suffering for hours and I intend to put the bitch out of her misery.”
Knox covered his face. “Jesus Christ, Roxanne.”
“Don’t pretend you’re embarrassed, Knox,” Roxy retorted. “We’re all grown. Besides, your dick’s about to bust your zipper.”
Cam guffawed, and threw his cards down, too. “I win,” he declared.
“Bullshit,” Knox said, ignoring Roxy for the moment. “I win. I have four black cards.”
“So do I,” Cam announced. “Since I won the last round, I’m the winner.”
“Oh, for God’s sake,” Jordan bit out. “Let’s finish the game.”
“We better,” Roxy agreed, returning to her chair. “Someone can win fair and square, and these two can shut the fuck up.”
Cam leaned back in his seat across from Jordan. The smug look on his handsome face sent amusement through her.
Jordan looked at the nine white cards, all face down, and in piles of three. She hadn’t been paying attention, so she didn’t know which combination belonged to whom. “Raise your hand as I read the cards.”
“I already know I’m the winner,” Cam gloated. “No one can beat my combination.”
“Want to make a bet on that?” Knox challenged.
“No!” Jordan and Roxy chorused.
“Read the cards, sweetheart,” Cam said in his silky-smooth voice.
Jordan squirmed in her seat, desire roaring through her. It embarrassed her, so she pretended her pussy wasn’t wet and ready. For Cam.
“Jordan, I swear to God, if you don’t read those fucking cards, I’m going to scream in this motherfucker,” Roxy threatened, then held up her hands. “No, wait. On second thought, let’s get this shit cleared the fuck up.” She narrowed her light brown eyes. “Sulley was a motherfucker. He didn’t deserve you. Shouldn’t have fucking had you. He deserves to be right the fuck where he’s at.”
“And where might that be?” Knox asked.
Roxy flipped Knox off. They’d first met when he’d come to gather information on the MC Roxy’s son-in-law belonged to. In the process, they’d fallen in love. They made a beautiful couple. He was tall and golden-haired with sky blue eyes, while Roxy was shorter and caramel-colored. She still wore wigs to cover up her short hair, lost due to her
battle with cancer. She was ten years older than Knox but looked to be his age, which was thirty-four, like Cam.
Not that age mattered. Roxy and Knox’s relationship was thriving, so who cared if Jordan happened to be several years older than Cam?
Roxy had fallen silent and Jordan offered her a sheepish smile.
“You back with me now?” her friend asked.
“Yep.”
“Good. As I was saying, you deserve some happiness. If you want to fuck Cam’s brains out, don’t let anything stop you, least of all the fact that you’re pregnant for an abusive, stalking asshole.”
“Oh Lord,” Jordan said, her face flushing. “Shut up, Roxanne.”
“I’ll shut up.” Roxy grinned at Cam. “Notice she didn’t deny what I said, even when I called her out for eye-fucking you. Do what you need to do and scoop this woman up.”
Jordan threw Roxy the stink eye, before she glanced at Cam. He gave her an intense scrutiny, one that was hard to ignore. “Ignore this crazy woman, please, Cam. She has jokes.”
“Whatever you say, Jordan,” he murmured, his voice deeper, huskier. Sexier.
“Read the fucking cards,” Roxy ordered.
“The cards. Right.” Jordan grabbed the first pile. “Pulling out plus a snapping turtle biting the tip of your penis equals erectile dysfunction.”
Roxy frowned. “Fuck, that equals a fucked-up dick.”
“Those are my cards,” Knox called.
“Lame!” Cam threw out.
“We’ll see about that,” Knox returned.
“Smegma plus queefing equals not reciprocating oral sex.”
Smiling, Roxy raised her hand and wiggled her fingers.
“Your woman has you beat, Wafer,” Cam said in bored tones, using the nickname he had for Knox.
Knox leaned over and kissed Roxy. “She can beat me anytime.”
“Running out of semen plus dick fingers equals a sad hand job.”
Cam grinned.
Jordan liked all three combinations, but she couldn’t help herself. She placed the black card with the winning combination and slid them across the table to Cam.
“That’s cheating!” Knox accused.
“It isn’t,” Jordan said calmly, unfazed by the outburst. “I liked Cam’s the best. They were all good, though.”
“Don’t be a sore loser.” Cam straightened his collar and brushed off his sleeve. “Don’t hate me because I’m handsome and witty.”
Roxy stood. “You know I’d do the same for you, Knox.”
Some of Knox’s irritation fled. “I know.”
Jordan got to her feet. “Same time next week?”
“You know it, sugar,” Roxy said, coming to her and hugging her, in spite of Jordan’s belly. She turned to Cam. “Take care of my friend.”
“I can only do as much as she allows me,” Cam told her.
Roxy walked to Cam and hugged him. “I understand.”
“Let me walk them out,” Jordan said to Cam. “I’ll be right back.”
“I’ll be right here,” he returned.
Weeks ago, once she’d gotten over the trauma of her last relationship, she’d reluctantly admitted that she was attracted to the gorgeous, tough private detective—who was just about as different from her lying ex as possible.
Tonight, a tangible shift was happening, a call to action, an indelible need that was hard to ignore.
Throwing Cam a little smile, Jordan led Roxy and Knox out of her family room and down the hallway to the door. Knox rtrieved his and Roxy’s coat from the hall closet, then kissed her cheek before guiding Roxy out of the door.
Jordan waved at the biker who served as her security guard, then closed the door.
For long moments after her friends departed, she remained in the hallway, seized by nervousness. It wasn’t as if she and Cam hadn’t been alone before. They watched movies together, met for lunch as often as possible, enjoyed dinner, not to mention playing Cards Against Humanity.
But she had so many misgivings about a relationship, especially with Cam. If an affair between them didn’t work, she’d also lose his friendship.
“Jordan?”
She jumped at the sound of his voice and the baby kicked.
“I thought I’d find you here.” He shoved his hands in the pockets of his trousers. “Would you like me to leave?”
“I don’t know,” she admitted with quiet honesty. “I…What am I doing?” she said, more to herself. She spoke louder. “I have to get the kitchen cleaned up from our dinner dishes.”
It was a dirty stalling tactic, one so unworthy of her. Shame hit her and she bit her lip, promising herself she’d figure out what to do about her overwhelming need for Cam later. When she was alone. After he left.
She started down the hallway, but Cam stepped in front of her and blocked her path. His eyes fixed intently on hers. Moving slowly, he cradled her face between his hands. He waited a moment, searching her face, before he bent his head and brought his mouth to hers.
Jordan opened her mouth and met his tongue, tasting mint and beer. Tasting Cam. His lips were firm and insistent. She moaned against him and he deepened the kiss, the tip of his tongue touching the tender, inner walls of her mouth, his scent arousing her.
Just like that, she melted against his chest, her hands rising to clutch his shoulders. He groaned deep in his throat and pulled her even closer.
It was enough to bring Jordan to her sense. “Stop. I can’t do this. I want to, Cam. So much. But I’m pregnant with another—”
“Don’t say it, Jordan,” he commanded in a rough voice. “Roxy’s right. That motherfucker doesn’t need an acknowledgement.”
“It’s more than that. I’m a packaged deal. Everything’s fine now between us, but once the reality of my baby sets in, once she’s here, you may see things in a different light.”
His eyes darkened. “You really think that I’m that shallow?”
“No! It’s just…”
Her dilemma about how best to handle this situation told her how much she cared about Cam. With any other man, she’d be sending him straight out the door.
“I want stability for my daughter.”
“Are you sure you don’t mean stability for yourself?”
She stiffened. She’d shared her tumultuous childhood with him because she trusted him, not to give him ammunition against her.
Cam rubbed a hand over his hair. “I’m sorry, doc. That was unworthy of me.”
She nodded. “It was. So what if I want that for me and my child? I don’t sleep with anyone I’m not in a relationship with. I don’t do friends-with-benefits.”
“I’m not asking for that,” he snapped.
“Cam,” she whispered, laying her palm against his cheek, feeling his evening shadow. “I’m not trying to lead you on. Believe me when I tell you I’m so attracted to you, I can barely think straight when you’re near me. But I can’t do this now. I can’t think we have something, then the baby arrives and you discover sleep deprivation and diaper changes aren’t your thing. Let the baby come first.” Her words sank in and she sucked in a breath. What she was asking of him was unfair. She couldn’t put his life on hold because of her fear and uncertainty. “I know how this sounds and I understand you might not be available when I’m ready,” she pushed out, although the words were so hard to say. “You’re any woman’s dream.”
His smirk returned. “Am I?”
“Yes.”
“Am I yours, doc?”
“You shielded me with your body the first day we met, Cameron,” she said, her voice a little shaky. “Since that day, three months ago, you’ve been here for me. You’re brave and kind and smart. Everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner.” She met his gaze and nodded slowly. “So, yes, you are a dream come true for me.”
“Yet, you’re willing to risk losing this brave, kind, smart, handsome guy by shutting me out?”
She laughed at the emphasis he put on the word ‘handsome’. “I don’t
want to but I have to be fair to you.”
Cam shook his head, pulled her against him and wrapped his arms around her. “What am I going to do with you?”
She had a few things in mind, none of which she could, or would, say.
“I promise you I’m here for the long-haul,” he said, his voice deep and rough. “I’ll be at your side through thick and thin. On your good days and bad days. I’m well aware you’re a packaged deal and I don’t have a problem with that. Your baby is my baby.”
Oh God, no wonder she’d fallen in love with him…She gasped as the thought slid into her head. She loved Cam?
Somehow, when she wasn’t even watching, he’d become her friend and confidante. The sound of his voice lifted her spirits immediately. Her pulse raced the moment she saw him. At night, when he left her house, every part of her ached to have him near.
Combined, those things could mean only one thing. She loved Cam!
“I have one request, sweetheart.”
Her mind whirling from her realization, she almost missed Cam’s words. “What’s that?”
“Call me when you go into labor. I want to be in the delivery room with you.”
“Oh…I…oh…” A smile curled her lips and her eyes became a little teary. “Really?
“You’re mine,” he said gently, brushing her lips with his. “That baby you’re carrying is going to be mine as well. So, damn right, I want to be there to see her come into the world.”
A tear rolled down her cheek but she smiled shakily.
“Is that smile a yes?” His large hands smoothed a path down her back.
She loved him. Even though she wasn’t ready to tell him that, she wanted him at her side when her daughter came into the world. “Yes, it is.”
“One other thing.”
“Pushy, aren’t we?” she teased.
“I’m on a roll. Before my luck runs out, I have to go for what I want.”
