  “Virgins?”

  “No. None of them was.”

“Did he rape any of them?”

  “Only a few.”

“The ones that weren’t offered as a sacrifice?”

  “How did you know that?”

He didn’t answer, just sat there musing. “I need to see pictures of the corpses.”

“There is no way they’re releasing that information.”

“What were the sexual orientations of the victims?”

She wrinkled her nose. “I don’t know. What does that have to do with anything?”

Again he offered no reply. “Where are you going?”

She stopped on her way to the door. “Just out onto the balcony. I can’t remember which book I came in here for.”

  “Why not?”

Blushing, she pulled her gaze from his. “I don’t know.”

A subtle smile crept up his face. He stood. “I’ll join you.”

They went out onto one of the balconies together that overlooked the moon-drenched plains that were painted with snow.

“You looked ravishing earlier,” he said.

Her pulse fluttered. “Thank you. When was that?”

  She knew when.

“When you were being shagged within an inch of your life.”

Her cheeks got warm. He looked off into the night horizon, a small smirk playing at his lips.

“It was fun.” Now her face was hot.

His smirk deepened. “I imagine it would be.”

“Is that something you would be open to trying sometime?”

He glanced down at her, eyes roaming over her features. “It might be.”

She traced a line in the snow that had gathered on the railing. “With Tracy?”

Cole seemed amused for some reason. “That might be a bit awkward, given our preferences.”

  “You prefer one on one?”

“I prefer women. So does he.”

She gawked at him. “Tracy is a man?”

  Immense relief coursed through her.

“Owen Tracy is my best mate back in London.”

  “Oh.”

“You seem relieved, Danielle,” Cole teased her.

  She blushed. “I just ...”

Then it hit her and she slapped his arm.

“All those times you called him by his last name over the phone. You did that on purpose.”

He grinned. “Sometimes I refer to people by their last names.”

“You asked what he was wearing that one time.”

  “Curiosity.”

She lifted an accusing brow at this.

“I wanted to make you jealous. It’s true. I’m glad you still have feelings for me.”

“Do you still have feelings for me?”

He locked eyes with her, voice softening. “You know I do.”

They stayed lost in each other’s eyes for a moment before he turned his attention briefly to the snowy rail.

“Ménage is new to me. You know you’ll have your hands full trying to satisfy six men. Granted, four of them are bisexual, which should give you something of a break sometimes.”

She smiled at his practical analysis of the situation. “That’s true. I’m up to the challenge.”

“I’m different than I was back then. I’ve added to my arsenal since then.”

“Your bedroom arsenal, huh?” He was so cute sometimes when he talked.

“How experienced are you with BDSM?” he asked.

  “Kale taught me some stuff.”

  “Are you his submissive?”

“Yes and no. I do scenes with him and he wants to be my husband, too, even though he and Brighton will be married legally. He’s more Brighton’s Dom than mine, though. He considers me his pet, too, but ...”

  “What?”

She kept her focus on the snow while speaking. “He trained me for you.”

  “Not enough, I think.”

She frowned. “What is that supposed to mean?”

“If he has you both as pets and only tops you during scenes, then you’re not trained enough for my tastes.”

  “So train me.”

He smiled. “I think I will. I can share you as a wife with the five of them, but I alone shall be your Dominant. You may do scenes with Kale, but he has Brighton as a pet. I want you as my submissive.”

His designs on her and his possessiveness made her giddy. “That’s fine. About our night together years ago, I really wanted to marry you. I left because I loved you and your brothers. I didn’t think you all would ever share a woman. I didn’t want to hurt you by staying and having you someday figure out that I had feelings for them, too.”

She took his hand in hers.

“I’m so sorry that I hurt you by leaving. I’ve regretted it ever since.”

He gave her hand a squeeze. “I know. There wasn’t a day that went by when I didn’t think about you. There were others. Fewer than you would think, but they were never you. It didn’t matter how attractive or interested in kink they were. No one was ever as good as you.”

Her heart moved with feeling. “That’s so sweet. I was so inexperienced back then. How could I be the best you’ve ever had?”

“It was you.” He brushed her cheek. “It was always you.”

She nuzzled his palm, heart rate picking up as he leaned forward as if about to kiss her before pulling back.

  “Kiss, kiss?”

A sly smile tilted his lips. “Not yet.”

  “Why not?”

“I think you need to suffer a little longer.”

  “Ah,” she whined. “I’ve suffered.”

  “Patience is a virtue.”

  “Yeah, one I hate.”

  He tittered. “Soon.”

  “Don’t you want to?”

He eyed her hungrily. “Very much. I want you starving for it.”

  “I am, so much.”

“Imagine how satisfying it will be when I finally do kiss you.”

  “You tease!”

  He grinned.

They were quiet for a moment, drinking in the moon-soaked landscape that was blanketed with snow.

“I like this night,” Cole murmured.

  “Me, too.”

Her eyes fell to their joined hands when he took hers. His hand felt cool, but slightly warmer than her cold one. It was a simple moment—dark, silent, and cold, but she felt so warm and peaceful on the inside.

Her body shivered with a sudden chill and he put his suit jacket on her. The thick material surrounded her in warmth. It smelled like him, so good and masculine.

  “Thank you.”

He put his arm around her and tucked her into his side as they stood there, admiring the snowy scenery. She snuggled against him, inhaling his scent and enjoying his body heat.

“I missed you,” she said softly.

  “I missed you, too.”

He planted a kiss on her head that made her soul stir.

She didn’t know what the future held, but she was overjoyed that he would be with her in it.
