Heart of Ice (Firecats Book 2) Page 18

by P. Jameson

Mine, her inner cat purred. And she agreed.

His lips moved over her skin like warm honey, rough enough to remind her what he was, soft enough to have her writhing with desire.

Nibbling along her jaw and down her neck, he ended up between her breasts, licking a path to one aching nipple. Vegas watched as he pulled it between his lips, glancing up to catch her gaze as he sucked.

“Argh,” she moaned, tossing her head back to the mattress while he tapped his tongue on the sensitive bud.

He knew exactly how to drive her pleasure.

Monster moved lower, licking his way down her body to the top of her sex. Vegas looked down to watch him as he knelt between her legs, wrapping one palm around each thigh to spread her wide.

  “Wait… what are you doing?”

He stared up her body, meeting her gaze with a wicked sexy smirk that transformed his scarred lips into something she wanted to lap up. “Tasting,” he growled.

And then he descended on her like he was parched and she was the only drink that could save him.

Vegas squealed as his mouth had its way with her body, licking and sucking. The sounds and vibrations from his growling throat rattled her inside, threatening to throw her into that glorious release she was coming to love.

But just as she was about to come, his mouth disappeared. She opened her eyes to find him watching her.

“Look at you,” he rasped, gaze raking her body and owning it along the way. Like he was marking it with his eyes. “Goddamn. I can’t believe you’re mine.” His voice cracked at the very end, but he pushed his shoulders back in that way that showed his pride and positioned her hips for his entrance.

Vegas gasped as the tip of his cock pressed into her tightness, burning in a way that told her she’d feel it the next morning.

  The idea thrilled her.

She thrust her hips upward, wanting him deeper.

  More. Now.

“You’re tight, mate,” he grunted, sweat forming on his brow. “Don’t want to hurt you.”

  “Want you. Now. Please.”

  “Damn it, baby. Slow down.”

But her animal didn’t want slow, and neither did she. They had their whole lives to go slow, to cherish. Right now, she wanted to be taken.

Her nails scratched down Monster’s back and it was all he needed to surge forward, breaking her barrier in one smooth thrust.

“Fuck,” he roared, and she squeezed her legs around him, loving the tight way they fit together.

Monster went still, staring down at her as she panted through the invasion.

“Female? Did I hurt you?” He barely breathed the question, and her heart squeezed with the love she had for him. Always so careful with her. She would never get enough of the thoughtful way he loved her.

She smoothed her hand over his rough cheek. “No,” she whispered. “But…”

  “What?”

  “Do you feel that?”

Between them, somewhere beyond their skin and bones, down where their souls lived, there was an invisible cord binding them together as one.

“The mating bond,” he said, pulling from her body to surge forward again.

She moaned at the delicious friction, bringing his face down to kiss him hard.

Monster broke away to settle into a bone-pounding rhythm, gaze locked with hers as he drove her to the peak of pleasure.

“Yessss,” she hissed when he bent to suck a nipple, never breaking his rocking motion.

He lifted his head with a sexy snarl. “Mine.”

She watched his eyes flicker with the same tiny flames she’d seen in Ratchet’s. Green with fire.

Her man’s hot gaze was more than she could take, and her body tightened around him with her release.

Vegas cried out as she convulsed and Monster pounded away, giving her everything.

A vicious roar ripped from his throat and a quick pass of his claws at her collarbone sent a sharp pain sparking through her body.

Marked, her animal purred. Marked and claimed.

Monster tipped his head back, his release spilling into her in warm jets, imprinting his unique scent onto her.

  His, his, his.

Everyone would know it now. And the idea filled her with so much satisfaction she started laughing.

Monster slowed, his pleasured groans tapering off as he stared down at her in awe.

  “Laughing,” he murmured.

Vegas bit her lip to make it quit but there was no stopping it.

Monster pulled out and pushed back in, one last time, making her moan. Which only brought more laughter.

“My mate is happy,” he rumbled, showering more kisses over her neck and chest.

  “The happiest I’ve ever been.”

He kissed the mark he’d slashed across her old Alley Cat scar and pulled from her body, falling to the bed beside her. The mark bled a bit but not too much. It was perfect.

Monster scooped her into his arms and she snuggled close, soaking in his warmth.

  “Mine,” she whispered.

And he must have loved it because he hugged her tighter.

When she lifted her head to see, his expression took her breath away. It was a part of him she’d never seen before.

  Another first.

  His smile.

The way it twisted his lips made her heart thunder in her chest. And it didn’t fade away when he caught her looking.

It got bigger. And then turned into a laugh.

Happy. This was what happy felt like. She finally knew.

Marlee said there would be a time when no one would have to tell them when good was good. They’d just know.

  That time was now.

  Epilogue

  Dear Eddy,

Everything turned out all right. Pretty fucking good really. I got the girl. Even with my ugly-ass face. And I’m not afraid anymore. Neither is she. Just wanted you to know.

  Goodbye,

  Monster
