“Yeah, you coulda been dead,” Condor stated.
“What I wanna know is how he snuck up on us like that?” Rogue stated.
Blue showed no fear as he shrugged. “Training and I forget about being silent. Sorry about that.”
“I want in on this fucking training thing,” Falcon muttered.
Rogue nodded. “We aren’t easy men to sneak up on. I need to know how you did that.”
Crow came up and they saw him coming. “The fuck, Blue? You’re standing next to me then you go fucking poof?”
Condor shook his head. “Told ya he had skills.”
Talon motioned for them to move.
They all did. They snuck up to the side of a fairly large house.
Blue whispered, “The shots came from downstairs.”
They spread out and scoped the house, then after a few minutes they, peeked into the windows.
“Two bodies by the front door,” Falcon whispered.
They went around and through the front. The door was unlocked.
Talon went to go in.
Condor placed his hand in front of him.
Talon stopped and glared at him.
“Enforcer first.” Condor went in through the door. That was his job when it came down to it. Protect the president and Talon damn well knew this. He went in and spanned his gun around. Nothing moved.
Then his brothers silently followed him in.
They all stopped and stared at two men dead men on the floor.
Stinger went over to one and read his patch in a whisper, “Snake.”
“Yeah and the other one is Ripper, VP. RIP,” Talon stated in a low voice.
Suddenly, a bullet flew down from the second floor.
They all dove for cover.
The bullets kept coming until all they heard were clicks. Then they heard laughter.
They peeked out from behind furniture and gazed up at the top of the stairs.
“Welcome to the party, you fuckers!” Slasher stood at the top like he hadn’t a care in the world.
They all aimed their guns up at him.
“Nah, that’s all the bullets I had, you dumbfucks,” he spat down at them.
Slowly, they moved closer with their guns up.
Once they got close enough, they could see blood had soaked his t-shirt and he looked like a pale version of himself. With his light hair and blue-gray eyes, he almost looked like a vampire or a ghoul. He had apparently, lost a lot of blood. He raised his arms in the air wildly. “Yeah, good men are hard to find.” He gave a disgusted look at the men on the floor. “Fuckers turned on me.” He shrugged. “Well, I fucking killed the useless pieces of shit.” He coughed. “I just wanted to tell you all to fuck off one last time.” Blood gurgled from his mouth as he sank down onto the landing. Huffing for air, he laughed through the blood seeping out from his lips. “I still get the last laugh.”
“How so?” Talon glared at him.
“Well for one, Eagle. He is in the wind and before we parted, he promised to bring you all down.” Then he swung his gaze over to Condor. “For another. You are too late.”
Condor frowned and stared back at him. “Too late for what?”
“Too late to kill me.” He laughed then coughed up blood as he landed on his back now.
Condor headed up the stairs.
“No damn it!” Talon called to him.
“Fuck Condor, he could still have a weapon!” Falcon called too.
Condor kept his gun on the dying Slasher as he stood on the top step.
Slasher was barely breathing. His chest was still moving though, as he gurgled.
“Tell me mother fucker, what the fuck did you mean by that?” Condor feared that maybe he had planned something for Ricki. Or, he had set some plan into motion.
Slasher laughed, as he was still alive. “Your woman...” He coughed again.
Condor felt his gut clench. He meant Ricki. “What the fuck have you done?” he seethed at the dying man.
Slasher laughed some more. “I killed her.”
Sucking in a breath, Condor felt his body go cold. “She’s under protection, you cannot touch her!”
Slasher moved his head from side to side. “You mean protection of the grave!”
Condor dropped his gun, his heart racing like mad. Fear gripping him. He grabbed the man’s bloody t-shirt with both grasping fists and raised him up. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
Still gasping and laughing, Slasher spluttered more blood, “Y-your sweet Julia. I blew her brains out.” He gasped for air again. “...Plucked her right off the back of your bike. You shoulda seen your face, when you realized she was—gone.”
Condor shook like an oak tree in a wind. “Why?” he asked in a cold whisper.
“You turned me down. Remember? You—spat at my feet and disrespected—m-me,” he wheezed the words out.
Condor’s eyes rounded as he realized he meant when he’d approached him to be a Road Dog Enforcer, all those years ago. “So you killed my woman for that!” he shouted as he slammed the man’s head down onto the wood floor.
Talon and Falcon reached Condor first and they grabbed him up, removing him from Slasher.
Rogue knelt next to the ex-president of the Road Dogs and felt for a pulse. “Yeah, he’s dead,” he stated.
Condor shook with barely controlled rage. “Good for him. I hope he fries in hell.”
Conclusion
They all arrived at the clubhouse.
The women came out to greet them.
Talon hugged Fiona.
Falcon picked Asia up and spun her around.
Rogue held Sevie tight as he kissed her.
Condor was glad they all were happy and they should be with only one loss and that being Niko’s man. But he felt tired and he was still a bit stunned by what Slasher had said. He looked around for Ricki.
She stood at the far side of the main room, staring at him wide eyed.
He looked down at himself and realized he was covered in blood.
She then sprinted across the room and stopped right in front of him, concern all over her face.
“None of it is mine.” He motioned to his shirt.
“It better not be,” she said as her voice shook, despite her tough words.
He then tore his shirt off right there and tossed it into nearby trashbin.
She grabbed his hands in hers. “W-what happened?”
He looked over her shoulder at Archie. “Slasher was shot by his own men. He...” Condor took a deep breath as it all washed over him again. “Won’t be bothering either of you anymore.”
Archie nodded then lowered his head.
Staring at Condor, Ricki cocked her head to the side as she studied him closely. “What else?”
He shook his head.
“Come on,” she urged. “Something more happened. You need to tell me.”
He felt frustrated. He didn’t want to talk about this. It was such an old wound, one he thought had healed.
Archie moved away, sensing they needed space.
Grabbing her hand, Condor tugged Ricki out through the doors.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
“To our cabin,” he replied.
When they stood in front of the door, he fished the keys out and opened it.
Ricki went in.
He followed, then turned and locked the locks.
“You said our cabin,” she whispered.
Condor turned to her. “Yes, I did. In fact, everything I have is ours.”
She cocked her head. “What if I just want you?”
Condor pulled her close. “You have that already. But I share everything with my woman.”
“Y-your woman?” Ricki asked in a whisper.
Nodding, he pressed his lips to hers. “My sweetheart, remember?”
She tisked and rolled her eyes. “Like you’d ever let me forget.”
Condor smiled and realized, she was the only one who could draw a smile from him w
ithout any effort. “Yep, and that’s the point, I won’t be letting you forget it.” He kissed her deeply.
A month later...
Ricki loved it. She stretched her arms out wide and leaned her head back. The wind blew her light hair around as she put her face to the sun. This was the best experience she’d felt in a long time. Well, no, she got that with Condor every day.
He was still pouncing on her when she least expected it. Like just this morning, she had come out of the shower as she thought he was in Church with the Princes and Talon.
He accosted her at the bathroom door, ripped her towel off, and planted her on the bed. Quickly zipping his jeans down, he shoved right into her.
Ricki reveled in it as he’d pounded into her from behind while playing with her body at the same time, ramping her up. She never knew love and sex could be like this. Yes love, she had already yelled that out to him when he was plunging into her last week. He knew now. But he’d already told her about his love for her.
Yes, he had finally told her that it had been Slasher that had killed Julia all that time ago.
She had cried and cried, realizing that it had been her father who had made Condor’s life a living hell for a long time.
Then Condor had told her that God had given him back his heart. She, Ricki had delivered it to him.
She felt better and they were fine after that.
Then now this step, the biggest one for them both. What they were doing today. And it hadn’t been her idea. It had been his.
Today was the real miracle.
With a happy sigh, Ricki wrapped her arms around Condor’s waist and laid her cheek onto his leather clad shoulder. His bike taking them down the highway.
She was Condor’s woman, riding on the back of Condor’s Harley.

I live in a small town (population495) in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories I could write, I found I like suspense/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
