“I need more scotch,” the words flew from my lips, but I knew it was true. My house was about to become a frat house for half a pride of angry lions.

  Hell, what could go wrong?

  CHAPTER 32 - PART 2 – Mombi

Music blared through the house as I made my way down the hallway. When I had opened my eyes, my alarm clock reads 5:47 in the morning. It was way too early for this shit.

In the interest of peace among the pack, Jake had taken one of the bedrooms in the guest wing. I didn’t knock before entering his room.

Just as I was about to unleash every drop of fury I had on him, I realized that Jake’s bed was empty.

My stomach clenched, if he wasn’t sleeping here, and he wasn’t in my room, where was he?

Just as visions of Jake wrapped in the arms of one of the lioness’s arms seared through my brain, I heard his voice coming from downstairs.

“What the fuck is going on here? Shut that damn music off immediately and clean this place up. Do you lazy asses have any idea of the favor that Mombi is doing us by allowing us to stay?”

I heard grumbling and shuffling about, and suddenly there was blessed silence, the music was finally off. My head lost the tense pressure I hadn't realized was there. I was so damn tired, we hadn't gone to be bed until late, discussing the Dorothy issue. I contemplated making my way back to the master bedroom, but Jake’s bed was right here and smelled just like him.

I didn’t hesitate before climbing into the soft covers and allowing my eyelids to fall.

The next time I awoke, I was wrapped tightly in the arms of a lightly snoring lion shifter. Jake’s massive cock was digging into my back as his breathing softly ruffled my hair.

One of Jake’s hands cradled my breast while the other had me around the middle pulled tightly against him with our legs entangled.

I wasn’t sure how to feel about this, although one thing kept coming to mind—this felt right.

  Well then.

I felt his lips against the back of my neck, “Good morning, Mombi.”

I snuggled back into him, causing him to moan as my ass made contact with his morning wood, instead of being pressed against my back.

“Morning, Jake,” my voice was a lot huskier than I had anticipated it being. I tried to clear my throat, “Erm. Thank you for taking care of the pride this morning. I was ready to boot the lot of them out.”

Jake sighed, his hands wandering a bit. I almost didn't catch the next statement as he starts caressing my breast through the thin tank top.

“You don’t have to worry about them. I will get the pride back to where they are supposed to be.”

“Why did you leave?” for a moment, I surprised even myself. I didn't want to be that clingy person, but it had really hurt when he left.

Jake kissed my head, “It was the hardest thing I have ever done. But I had to take the target off your back and I knew that Eric wouldn’t be the leader that they needed. Unfortunately, I couldn’t tell you my plan. I had to make it as real as possible.”

“Were you ever going to come back? I mean, if Scarecrow hadn’t have called you.”

I hated the vulnerability in my voice, but I desperately wanted to know the answer.

“I had plans to return a few weeks ago, but when Indy came to Scarecrow, he asked me to stay on as a personal favor. I owed him one, so I did. But make no mistake, Mombi, I was always coming back. The question was only when.”

I felt something tighten in my chest.

“I promise you, Mombi, I will never leave again. Pride or no pride, I am not giving you up.”

“But I am not a shifter,” I whispered my biggest fear, “they will never accept me.”

“That is their damn problem. I honestly feel that Eric has probably screwed things up enough that they will welcome the both of us with open arms.”

  “Both of us?”

“You are my mate, Mombi,” he growled in my ear. “I know it in my soul. You are afraid. I know that. Let me prove that I can be the man you need.”

It was time to take a leap of faith. I took a deep breath, “Okay.”

His wandering hands stopped, “Okay, you are my mate, or okay to proving myself?”

A smile broke across my face, “The second one!”

Jake flipped us so that he was on top of me, pressing in “I can handle that.”

I tipped my hips up into his erection, “It seems that you are happy to see me.”

He barked out a laugh, “Princess, my dick is always happy to see you.”

I grabbed his ass, pressing his pelvis down against me. His cock lining up with my core, he thrust gently, and I wished our clothes to perdition.

“How about we work on making you happy?” He said with a twinkle in his eyes before disappearing under the blankets.

I squealed when he got to my sleep shorts and pulled them off in one swoop.

“No panties?” his voice was gruff as he smelled my arousal.

His thumbs spreading me wide, Jake buried his face in my pussy. I was now a huge fan of facial hair, the way his short goatee teased my delicate skin drove me crazy.

“You taste like honey and musk,” his eyes obsidian pools as they gazed up at me from between my thighs. “I could spend every morning waking up this way.”

I was not about to argue with that sentiment.

Jake got back to work, licking, and stroking my pussy with his tongue and fingers. When I thought I couldn’t take it another moment, he pulled away and turned to lay beside me.

“Sit on my face,” he demanded.

I knew that I was ten shades of red, “I will kill you! I am not doing that.”

“If you want to come you will do it.”

I wanted to wipe that smirk off his face.

“My ass will smother you,” I protested.

He growled, “Don’t say shit that isn’t true. Besides, your ass is one of my favorite parts of you—that and your pussy, thighs, tits, well pretty much all of you is perfect.”

I sat on the man’s face.

Climbing up on my knees, I lowered my pussy to his lips. At first, I was worried about cutting off his oxygen supply. But after he grabbed my hips and ground his mouth against my core—I was lost.

His tongue was relentless fucking me until my juices had to be choking him. And then he bit gently on my clit, and my world turned upside down. I rode his face clear through my orgasm.

Horrified, I swung my leg off to see if he was okay. But the moment I moved, he pounced, throwing my face down into the covers, he slapped my right ass cheek.

  “Damn, girl, this is incredible.”

With one thrust he was inside of me. I cried out and tried to hold on to something as he fucked me for all he was worth. My hands were full of sheets, and my body was singing as he rammed into me with enough force to move me up the bed.

Then I was coming again, harder, and deeper this time. I heard Jake cry out and suddenly felt the flooding of his cum against my cervix. Fuck, that was incredible. It seemed that every time with him was magical.

I was thankful that shifters couldn’t carry diseases and that I was up to date on my birth control because the way we were going at it, we were going to have little lion witch children running about everywhere.

  And then it struck me.

The idea wasn’t such a bad one.

Maybe Jake was growing on me.

Maybe we really could be mates, if I gave it a chance that is.

  Shit.

  CHAPTER 33 - PART 2 – Mombi

“Why in the hell do I have to be bait?” Eric pouted.

“You are the most expendable?” I threw out.

Jake rolled his eyes at the both of us. It was true that there was no love lost between Eric and me. And I had little desire to cater to his massive self-esteem.

Though I supposed, for Jake, I could tone it down a little—a very little.

“Look,” Jake pointed to three of the lions, “You will have Harvey, Steve and Harris with you, Er
ic. It’s not like you are there alone. And the rest will be close. We just need to find out what their plans are. If you are distracting them, we can sneak in.”

Looking at these large men covered with massive muscles was no skin off my teeth. However, it was strange to me that they were so afraid. Harvey, Steve, and Harris looked like they had been given a death sentence.

“What is the problem?” I blurted out.

Harris blushed, “Nothing, Princess. We are at your service.”

But Steve didn’t seem to feel the same way.

“The last man to mess with them lost their ability to fuck. Why would we want to go anywhere near them?”

Did all men think with their dicks?

I flashed my arm, and suddenly every man in the room was painfully hard including Eric.

He was the only one that looked euphoric, the others seemed horrified, and Jake was plain pissed.

“I can take care of anything that Dorothy might do to you. Stop being such cowards. She is only one woman.”

“Um, do you think you could?” Harvey blushed.

“Oh!” I waved my arm again, and they returned to normal.

“Thank you, Princess,” the three lions fairly raced from the room. But Eric was eyeing me with disgust.

“I thought you couldn’t do anything about my situation,” he spat.

I smiled, “If you want to be in your previous condition, I can readily accommodate you.”

He covered his crotch and scampered from my office.

Jake and the lionesses that were still loyal to him, were the only ones remaining.

“That was awesome,” a pretty girl with dark hair named Rose, giggled. “If I ever need anything, I know who I am going to.”

Jake scowled, “My mate is not to be used for petty squabbles.”

I raised a brow, “On the contrary, we are not officially mates yet, and if any of you ladies have trouble with a man not treating you well, you have only to ask.”

  The girls laughed.

“Looks like she will be good for you, King,” Leonie, an older woman with graying hair murmured, “Perhaps we misjudged you, Mombi. I am sorry for that. We will do better.”

Jake’s jaw dropped, but he quickly recovered.

“Be ready to leave in an hour,” he barked out, and they left in a hurry.

I wasn’t sure if he was angry at me or not. Jake had the strangest expression on his face.

  “What?” I finally asked.

“Leonie,” he rubbed his chin, “She is the leader of the women, one of our strongest warriors. I am surprised that she seems to be warming to you. Honestly, I thought she would give us the most trouble.”

He gathered me into his arms, “And what was with you going against my orders?”

I blinked, “You might be king of the lions, Jake. But you are just my boyfriend.”

A wide grin split his face, “I’m your boyfriend?”

I flushed, trying to push out of his arms, “You know what I mean.”

“Boyfriend, mate, lover, husband,” his eyes twinkled, “I don’t care what you call me as long as I mean something to you.”

I bit my lower lip. The truth was, Jake meant more and more to me every second of the day.

“And your other trick,” he whispered into my ear.

“What trick?” I couldn’t think with him kissing my neck like that.

“I don’t need help being hard around you, Mombi,” he growled, biting my neck playfully.

Shivers raced up and down my spine, “Oh, that.”

He pushed his hips against me, and indeed I noted that he was hard.

  “Sorry about that.”

Jake bit my earlobe, “It would be easier to believe you were sorry if you weren’t laughing at me with your eyes.”

“You just make me happy, I am not laughing,” I giggled ruining my statement.

He tightened his grip, “You make me happy, too.”

Then Jake smacked my ass hard, “Come on, we have an enemy to catch.”

He walked out of my office whistling while I stood there staring at his back.

That beast had just left me as aroused as he was.

Two could play at this game, and I was a master.

I pulled on the tightest jumpsuit that I could find. It was black and had a slit practically to my navel.

With my fuck me boots and red lipstick I was ready to do business.

Leonie and the lionesses loved my outfit.

The lions seemed to appreciate it, but were smart enough to keep that opinion to themselves. Jake’s jaw clenched, and I saw a distinct tick in his cheek.

  Perfect.

The lions shifted, and I rode on Jake’s back with my hands wrapped tightly in his mane. I worried that I would hurt him. But he looked so offended by my concern that the words died on my lips.

So, I climbed on his massive back and held on with an iron fist. True to his word, Jake didn’t have a moments trouble carrying me. The lions ran the long way around the village, instead of going through, which I much appreciated. It was nearing dusk when we arrived on the outskirts of the pride.

Eric and the other males walked into camp just as we had planned. Leonie was on duty to tell us when there was an all-clear.

She ran back out of the woods and bade us follow. It was quiet going into camp, too quiet. I had my eyes and ears peeled, but as we entered the central area of the pride, there was no one.

No sign of the traitors or Dorothy.

  Something wasn’t right.

I turned to Jake, “We need to get out of here, I think it’s a trap.”

He turned surprised eyes on me just as we heard a whooshing sound from the trees.

One by one the Lions fell around me with needles shot into their hides.

I screamed and ran to Jake, but his massive lion body was limp.

  “Trouble, Mombi?”

The girlish voice had my nerves on end.

“Dorothy, where are the other lions?”

Her red lips stretched into a sickening smile, “Oh, they are lying about somewhere.”

  “Why?” I bit off.

She blinked innocently, “Why not? After all, you were the one who brought me here. I thought I would deal with your little lion problem as a returned favor.”

“I didn’t bring you here!” I demanded, but a part of my gut twisted in fear.

“Didn’t you, dearest?” she mocked, “Several months ago, didn’t your emotions cause a tornado? And because you are one of the guardians, you threw it out of your realm. But Mombi, feelings can’t be brushed under the rug.”

  “But how?” I choked.

“It was quite by accident. I spent a good deal of time whipping around the world. But of all the craziest notions, I was able to reverse the tornado and rode it all the way back to Oz.”

“But you cannot enter without a trustee letting you through,” I wailed.

“Your tornado was made from your emotions, Mombi. I didn’t need permission because it was a part of you. You let yourself back in, I just came along for the ride.”

“What do you want with us? I will do anything, just do not hurt the lions.”

She smirked, “I was hoping you would say that.”

  CHAPTER 34 - PART 3 – Glinda

“I cannot believe you sent my sister on a wild goose chase!”

I was beyond frustrated with Gregory.

“What did you want me to say, Lin? That there was no magical Wizard of Oz? That it was a ruse made up so that I could come into Emerald City and be close to you without anyone knowing?”

“Why didn’t you just say that you would permit for Dorothy to leave?”

He ground his teeth, “First off, that bitch lied, the third trustee is not Nessa Rose. Second, how was I to know what Dorothy wanted? She had just destroyed the majority of our crops!”

“So, you just refused to see her, and now we are in this mess,” my head was starting to pound. “What are we going to do now?”
>
“We are going to see your father, which is what you girls should have done in the first place.”

Self-righteous son of a gun, “I did suggest that we go to Daddy, but my sisters were insistent that they could take care of it.”

A vein in Gregory’s forehead threatened to burst.

“Your sisters are three of the most pig headed, stubborn women on the face of the earth. They would walk into hell, barefoot, before asking for help.”

  “That wasn’t nice!”

Although he wasn’t wrong, and I too had the stubborn streak of independence.

“We have a mass murder on the loose, Lin. The time for nice has long since passed,” Gregory sighed, blowing out an exasperated breath. “I am sorry, I don’t mean to take my frustration out on you.”

He ran a hand through his tousled blonde curls. Then turning to me sheepishly, he added, “And I am sorry I locked your sister in the dungeon. She just rubs me the wrong way.”

I didn’t want my sister rubbing Gregory in any way. But I kept that to myself.

“You called me,” I said softly, “instead of leaving her there. Thank you for that.”

“Listen,” Gregory’s eyes were insistent, “I know that you wanted space.”

I raised a hand, “No, not here. I’m not ready to talk about it yet.”

The fact of the matter was, that Gregory has been trying to marry me for years now. I think he proposed for the first time when I was eleven. We all grew up together in a way. But my sisters hated him, and there was no end to the nasty tricks played on both sides.

I have always felt a bit disconnected from my sisters. My eldest sister, Mombi, was always so assured and confident. The twins had each other. It was odd, the way they had often communicated without speaking a word.

And then I came. Think about the timid kid, who got so tongue-tied, that they hardly ever spoke and when they did it, was always a garbled mess.

  That was me.

Or, I should say, that is me.

Gregory and I initially bonded over the fact that my sisters didn’t like either of us. But over the years, I started to develop feelings for the handsome farmer. He was the Prince of Sapphire City, a vast metropolis, and he didn’t mind getting dirty with his laborers.
