by A. Blackthorne

“Jax, are you all right?” Allie noticed the faraway look in his eyes.

  “I’m fine.”

“You’re not seeing anyone right now, are you?”

  “Not really.”

“So, it won’t be an issue?”

  “No.”

Allie had known Jax for a few years. She knew when something was bothering him.

“What’s wrong? Is everything going okay with Sarah?”

  Jax swallowed nervously.

“Not really, Allie. She’s freaking me out, to be honest.”

“She’s stalking you. It’s supposed to be weird.”

  Jax shook his head.

“I know that, but she’s just, I mean, she’s gone far beyond what would be expected of her.”

Allie sighed. She loved Jax, but he could be so infuriating at times. A woman was hired to stalk him, for God’s sake! It was supposed to be an uncomfortable situation.

  “What has she done?”

Heaving a big sigh, he looked around Allie’s office. The walls were decorated with posters of his book covers and his signed paperbacks. Her desk was littered with framed photos of her husband and children.

“I know she’s supposed to follow me. She does that all hours of the day and night. But the other night I woke up and I swear she was in the room with me.” As soon as he said the words, he felt foolish. They made him sound paranoid.

Just as he thought, Allie flashed him a skeptical look.

  “Did you actually see her?”

  Jax sighed rubbing his eyes.

“Not exactly. I’ve been having some trouble falling asleep. I took a sleeping pill and,,,“

  Allie held up her hand.

“Jax, I hate to sound like your mother, but you know what sleeping pills can do. They cause all sorts of vivid dreams. I’m sure whatever happened after you took that pill was just part of a dream.”

He’d considered that possibility, but it had been so real. He’d actually been able to smell her perfume, feel her pussy on his cock. It couldn’t have been a dream.

“Maybe, but I really don’t think so. When I opened my eyes, she was riding me.”

Allie’s eyes widened as she sat back.

“Oh, it was sexual? I don’t know what to say. It could still just be a dream though. Was there any evidence she’d been inside your house?”

The picture on his kitchen counter!

The next morning he’d found it shattered on the floor. He’d thought that the wind might’ve knocked it over, but then he hadn’t had the windows open that night at all.

“A picture was broken in my kitchen.”

  “What?”

“I keep a framed picture of us in my kitchen. It was when we went to climb Mt. Olympia.”

  Allie nodded recalling the photo.

“So, are you dating Brooke again? You haven’t mentioned her in a long time.”

Jax rubbed his thighs. His legs were beginning to ache.

“Funny you should ask, I ran into her today for the first time in almost a year. We have plans for tonight.”

  Allie smiled.

“That’s great to hear! Just keep it on the DL. Jessica wants you to start dating the models she sets up for you. It won’t be anything big. She just wants you to meet the model at a club or a restaurant, hang out for a bit, have your photos taken, and let Sarah stare at you.” Allie laughed.

  “I can do that.”

“I’m sure you can. Look, I know this whole thing with Sarah has the potential to be stressful. Having someone watch your every move must be unsettling, but it’s a publicity stunt. It isn’t real. If you think it’s too much, tell me or Jessica. We’ll tell Sarah to tone it down. It’s working very well, by the way. Did you see the huge write-up Author Stalk did on you? Your pre-sales have skyrocketed! TMZ also had a bit on you two nights ago. Seems that Jessica is leaking this perfectly. So, don’t let this whole thing freak you out. It will only be a little while longer. It will be worth it in the long run! I can see you claiming that #1 slot on the NYT already!” Allie bounced around in her chair clapping her hands.

Jax beamed. He was glad to hear that all the money he was paying Jessica was paying off, but he knew that Sarah had been in his house.

  And on top of him.

Hugging Allie goodbye, Jax made a mental note to call a locksmith to change all the locks on his doors.

  Chapter 7

As they dined, Jax admired the way she swept her hair from her shoulder. She was so carefree, so alive. Every time she laughed she lit up the room. Jax felt like he was bubbling over with joy just being next to her. He hadn’t realized how much he’d missed her until now.

By the time they’d reached dessert, Jax recalled just how much he’d loved her.

  And he’d never stopped.

Watching her subtly lick the chocolate frosting from her fingertips, his cock stiffened.

But more importantly, his heart raced. Brooke was back in his life. It wasn’t just fucking her he was looking forward to, it was just being with her again. He wanted her by his side every day for everything.

“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” Brooke giggled as Jax stared at her with a lovesick expression.

  “Like what?”

  Brooke felt herself blush.

  “Like a lovesick teenager.”

  He shrugged finishing his wine.

  “Maybe it’s the wine.”

  She shook her head.

“Jax Paulson, I think you still like me. Do you have a crush on me?”

Jax scooted over on the bench seat next to her. He took her hand and placed it on his hard cock.

“Is that what they call this? I thought it was a fucking hard on,” he whispered.

She grinned massaging his cock through his pants.

“I think it’s time to get the check.”

As her arms fell to her sides, the garment slipped from her body revealing her glorious curves. Jax sucked in his breath. She was more breathtaking than he remembered. Her long blonde hair shimmered as the glow of the candlelight bathed her. His hands reached to brush her skin caressing each delicate plane of her body.

“Jax, I’ve missed you so much,” she murmured as he stepped up behind her to cup her full breasts in his hands.

“So have I.” He nuzzled against her neck inhaling her sweet perfume. It was the same as it had always been. The aroma brought him home back to the time before the accident, before the madness.

The candles flickered as the ceiling fan spun lightly. Jax’s hands shook with excitement as he turned her around and knelt before her. He pressed his face between her legs feeling her wetness on his face.

“Brooke,” he whispered. She parted her legs slightly as his tongue eagerly traced her lips. She was so wet, so delicious. She moaned as his hands caressed her nudity as if he were stroking a paint brush across a canvas. Jax felt his cock rock hard pressing against his jeans.

“Get on the bed,” he commanded. She eagerly jumped up onto the mattress tossing the dark red comforter aside.

She gazed up at him with her beautiful blue eyes wide in anticipation. Her hands roamed his strong muscled chest and arms.

“You’re even stronger than you were before.”

Jax nodded eager to taste her sweet pussy again. Lying her back and parting her legs, his tongue quickly found her wetness. Sucking her sweet clit into his mouth and lapping gently at her core, Brooke arched her back wrapping her legs around his head. Her hands dove into his dark hair winding it around her fingers as he swirled his tongue over her pussy bathing his face in her juices.

“Oh God, Jax,” she moaned. Her legs stiffened and he knew she was close to coming. He kept his tongue and mouth firmly fixed on her cunt longing for her to drench his face.

“Mmmm, Jax,” she groaned loudly as her core began to pulsate. Jax felt her juices cover his face as he lapped at her. She was so sweet, so delicious he never wanted it to end.

But his cock was raging at him t
o plunge deep inside her.

Jax flipped her over pulling her up on her hands and knees. Her fine, firm ass was there, just begging to be fucked. He took his time, slowly tracing his fingers over her dripping wet pussy strumming her clit lightly. The candles flickered as the ceiling fan blew a cool breeze across their heated bodies.

Jax rubbed her juices all over his cock, fisting it several times before rubbing the tip over her. Brooke groaned, pushing herself at him. Stopping to slap her ass several times, Jax positioned himself behind her.

Sinking his throbbing cock deep inside her, they both moaned with pleasure. Jax let his head fall back as he gripped her curvy hips.

  “Damn, Brooke.”

The pleasure was so intense he nearly came in just a few strokes. She was so tight and wet just like he remembered. Pushing in and out of her, Jax suddenly felt like someone was watching him.

Slowing down, he turned to look behind him at the large bay window. There, in the bushes, stood a female figure.

  Sarah!

He almost lost his erection, but Brooke moaned pushing her hips back at him.

  “Fuck me, Jax!”

Shrugging off the thought that Sarah was out there watching, he quickly regained his stature and began to fuck Brooke vigorously. Over and over he pumped in and out of her as her juices spilled over his cock.

As she came, her pussy tightened, squeezing him until he too, came deep inside her filling her up with his thick cum.

“Damn, Jax, that was even better than I remember.”

Brooke collapsed on the bed panting. Her tits heaved as she breathed. Jax glanced outside the window again and saw nothing.

  She was gone.

  Had she truly been there?

Jax shrugged it off as he laid down next to Brooke. He took her into his arms burying his face in her silky hair.

“What went wrong with us, Brooke?”

She took his hand and pressed it to her chest. He could feel her heart beat.

“I don’t know, Jax. After the accident, I tried to be so brave for you, but you changed. You pushed me away once too often, I suppose.” Brooke turned to meet Jax’s gaze.

He stared into her eyes a moment feeling all the love she still had for him. It was overwhelming. He sighed heavily with his hand still above her heart. It seemed as though everything was crashing down on him just when things should be improving.

“I’m sorry, Brooke. It was a very hard time in my life.” he began, but she brought her finger to his lips.

“I know, Jax, believe me, I know. I was there, wasn’t I? I held your hand through all the surgeries, through all the pain. When no one else was there, I was. I would hope you would always remember that.”

He nodded. Brooke had been his rock. When she left, he was lost for a long time.

Maybe now he’d found his way home.

Gaping at the screen, Sarah tried to comprehend what she’d just read. She was supposed to watch Jax going out with other women.

  Fuck!

Was he going to fuck them too? Did she have to watch that? Sarah slammed her laptop down on the desk.

She hated Jessica Pierce. She’d been a fucking bitch ever since she’d started working there. Jessica had had it out for her. Now when she was given the best assignment of her life, Jessica was ruining it for her by making her watch Jax with other women.

She knew what would happen. People were going to think she was crazy.

  Again.

She winced as she could still hear the shouts of the children taunting her, “Crazy Sarah! Crazy Sarah!”

But she hadn’t been crazy that day with Mollie Simpson in the field. She was only doing what the voices had told her to do.

  Just like she always did.

  Chapter 8

Punching the button, Jax sat in his car waiting for the garage door to open. To his delight, Brooke’s black Volvo was already there. Eagerly, he went into the house.

As he opened the door, a wonderful aroma hit him. The whole house smelled of roast chicken. He could also detect the faint smell of apple pie. His mouth began to water.

  “Brooke,” he called out.

  “In here, Jax!”

Funny, her voice sounded a bit different. He felt a vague sense of dread as he rounded the corner walking into the kitchen.

There were pots steaming on the stove. The granite countertop was covered with various glass bowls and boxes of ingredients.

  “Brooke, where are you?”

“In here!” Her voice seemed to be coming from the bedroom.

There was something off about her voice. It sounded different, so different.

Walking down the hall towards the master bedroom, he noticed the door was cracked open.

Pushing it slightly, the door opened to reveal a gorgeous woman on all fours on the bed wearing black garters, bra, and lacy panties.

A slow smile spread across his face.

  “Brooke, you look amazing.”

“We don’t have much time. Dinner’s almost ready.” She winked at him.

“This won’t take long.” He unzipped his pants. His cock was rock hard.

“Uh-uh, let me do that.” Brooke hopped off the bed and began to take him into her mouth. He groaned as she ran the tip of her tongue up and down his shaft. Her hand expertly cupped his balls lightly squeezing them as she sucked his length down her throat.

After a few long sucks, Jax felt himself explode deep in her throat. She licked the cum from her fingertips.

“Wow that was fast. I’ve got dinner ready. We can have dessert later.”

“So, you’re telling me that someone is supposed to be stalking you? Who is this woman?” Brooke asked while sipping a glass of wine.

“Her name is Sarah Bender. She works at Meridian with Jessica. It’s just a publicity thing. It’s no big deal. I just wanted you to know in case we were out and you saw her watching us.”

Brooke looked out the huge picture window in the living room.

“She could be out there right now?”

Jax finished his bite of chicken.

“She could, but she isn’t supposed to be.”

“This is all for your next book?”

  “Yes.”

Brooke shrugged and poured herself another glass of wine.

“Sounds a bit odd, but if it works it will be worth it.”

“It’s already working. Allie said I was on TMZ last week.”

“Great. Glad to hear it!” Brooke beamed as she cut pieces of the homemade apple pie, Jax’s favorite.

“There’s just one more thing.” He mumbled as he dove into the succulent apple pie. It was perfect. The crust was buttery and flaky. The apples were sweet and tart.

“What?” Brooke brought a forkful of pie to her lips.

“I have to start dating models.”

Brooke’s fork crashed to the table.

  “What?”

  Jax waved his hand.

“No, no, no. It’s not what you think. Jessica is setting me up with these women. I just have to meet them at a club or a restaurant. I spend an hour or so with them, have my picture taken, and Sarah follows us around. That’s all.”

  Brooke was visibly upset.

“I’m supposed to believe that you’re going to go out with gorgeous women and not do anything else with them. That it’s all for publicity?”

Jax pushed his dishes aside and took her hand.

“It is, Brooke. You’re the only one I want. I don’t care about any other woman but you. All of this is for us. I want to make it big for us. I don’t give a shit about Jessica Pierce or crazy Sarah Bender. This is for us. I’m not fucking these women. It’s all for show, I promise.” He brought Brooke’s hand to his lips.

  She softened as she smiled.

  “If you promise.”

“I do. This won’t be for long then I’ll be the #1 bestseller on the NYT. Then we can start planning the most fantastic wedding this town has ever seen!”

  Brooke looked
dazed.

  “Wedding? Oh, Jax!”

“It’s not a formal proposal yet. But I want you to start thinking about what kind of wedding you want. I mean it, Brooke, you’re the girl for me. You always have been. You were by my side after I came home from Iraq. You nursed me back to health. You put me on the path to success. I want to share my life with you.”

Brooke jumped up from her chair and threw her arms around his neck.

“Oh, Jax Paulson, you’ve made me the happiest woman in the world!”

  Jax grinned.

  “Just how happy are you?”

“Come back to the bedroom and I’ll show you.”

  Chapter 9

He awoke in a panic, drenched in sweat. It had been days since he’d seen Sarah, but he knew she was out there just watching him, waiting for her chance. He rolled over in the bed tossing the covers from his body.

He thought of the nightmare he’d just had, a terrible memory from when he’d been injured. The way his fellow Marines had looked down at his broken body, shattered and bleeding. They’d been shaking their heads bemoaning his short life, saddened by what was sure to be his impending death.

  But he hadn’t died.

Jax stood up and sauntered over to the window. He ensured it was locked as he looked out into the blackness of the night. No one was out there.

It was such a strange feeling for him knowing that someone was supposed to be watching him and yet, she wasn’t at the moment. It was that knowing and not knowing that was driving him crazy.

  Insane even.

Picking up his phone, he noted the time was 3 AM. He’d always hated looking at the clock at night because knowing the time made him unable to go back to sleep.

Besides, 3 AM was the witching hour or so they said. 3 AM was the devil’s hour to prey on weak minds, a mockery of the time that Christ was said to have died on the cross at 3 PM. It was the time that demons supposedly roamed around looking for people to inhabit. Well, he didn’t need any more demons. He laughed at the ludicrousness of his own thoughts and got a pack of cigarettes from the night stand. He lit one up and exhaled the smoke.
