  “Dan said you stepped out but would be right back,” said Russell. My brother was almost as tall as Riordan but much less muscular, his hair and eyebrows turned white from frostfever. “Was there trouble?”

  “Oh, not much,” I said. “I saved the life of Duke Xanthyr’s shadow agent in exchange for him not hassling Moran Imports.”

  Russell and Riordan shared a look.

  “This sounds like a story,” said Riordan.

  I grinned. “I can tell it over dinner.”
