  Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses

  Gentle Carousel Therapy Horses is a non-profit charity based in Florida. Their 24 tiny therapy horses bring their special love where it is needed most, working inside hospitals, assisted living programs, hospice programs, programs for Alzheimer patients and with adults and children with disabilities. They also work with foster children and at risk and abused children.

  Marine Mammal Care Center

  The Marine Mammal Care Center in Fort MacArthur, California, is a hospital for ill, injured and orphaned marine mammals. Their primary work is the treatment and release of rescued California sea lions, northern elephant seals, harbor seals and northern fur seals. This work is authorized by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

  National Search and Rescue Dog Association (NSARDA)

  The NSARDA is an umbrella organisation for Air Scenting Search Dogs in the UK. Its members are the Search & Rescue Dog Associations (SARDA), which are located throughout the UK. Each SARDA is a voluntary organisation responsible for the training and deployment of air-scenting search and rescue dogs to search for missing persons in the mountains and high moorlands of Britain as well as the lowland, rural and urban areas.

  Pets As Therapy (PAT)

  Pets As Therapy, or PAT for short, is a registered charity that provides therapeutic visits to all kinds of health establishments by volunteers with their own friendly, temperament-tested cats and dogs. The charity operates on the premise that, while research on the proven medical benefits of the company of cats and dogs is still developing, there is no doubt that many sick or ailing individuals appreciate the warm company of a furry feline or canine companion. All PAT dogs and cats are certified by accredited assessors and given the necessary checks by qualified vets before being permitted to make any visits.

  PDSA

  Founded by Maria Dickin in 1917, the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals provides more than 2 million free veterinary treatments each year, funded completely by public support.

  The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (UK)

  This organisation exists to provide guide dogs and other mobility services that increase the independence and dignity of blind and partially sighted people. They campaign for improved rehabilitation services and unhindered access for those who are blind or partially sighted.

  Urban Search & Rescue dogs (USAR)

  The team was officially formed in July 2001 to give the UK Fire & Rescue Service a search and rescue dog team capability to respond to UK emergencies as well as overseas disasters. The teams are made up of fire fighters from individual brigades throughout the UK, who are on 24-hour standby, 365 days a year.
