Summer Maintenance Page 10

by Jennifer Foor

“I’m kidding, Dad. It smells fantastic.”

After making our way to the kitchen table we sat down to eat. We bowed our heads and thanked the Lord for everything he’d given us, and then, before we stuffed our faces I did something neither of them expected.

I dropped to one knee and looked up at Patty, drawing something out of my pocket. “Patty Monroe, I’ve spent a long time alone. Now that I have my daughter back there’s only one thing I’m missing. It’s you, babe. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?”

As I slipped the ring on her finger I saw tears coming out of her eyes. Callie began clapping and making excited sounds from behind me.

Even though I’d left Jason Thomas in the past, I was still going to be able to have a future as Brice Mitchum. Sometimes a second chance at happiness is within reach, no matter how long you have to wait it out.

  The End.

  Acknowledgments

Thanks to my beta readers. I know it was short notice, but you pulled through for me. Georgette is my hero. Catherine, Kristy, Kayla, and Emma sending my love overseas. Amanda, I totally adore you for forcing the epilogue. Lol

To my publicist Dani: I made my deadline again. Thanks for not killing me. I heart you big time, with a Reese’s cup on the side.

Michelle Valentine: When I need a friend you are my go-to. We’re like Salt and Pepa. Ghost hunting is only one of our vast skills. When you sneeze in Ohio, I bless you in Maryland. That’s how we’ve got it. Xoxo
