the elite of the world and can understand things, even

engage beings from the future in debate. But those

teeming masses outside; they need the guidance that

you will provide them. Together, we will make their

lives ideal. Like heaven on earth.”

Outside people were still running around, panicky

and hysterical at the strange sight in their midst. It

didn’t quite look like the utopia that Davius had so

eloquently described to them a little while back. As far

as the eye could see there was only fear in every human

eye. Were these really our descendants who had taken

over? And did they take over to grind their own axe or

to help us survive destruction? Why would the fate of

their distant ancestors be of any consequence to them? Was this an elaborate charade to take over Earth?

But why would they need to enact a charade when they

could just take over by overwhelming force, which

they were doing in any case now? Wasn’t this how the

youth always treat the older people; forcing them into

submission, retreat, and eventually non-existence? This

younger life form was squeezing the life out of an

older life form. Wasn’t this immoral?

President Parker experienced a million thoughts

assailing her. Soon she developed a splitting headache

that seemed to almost cripple her, just as she herself

had said it would in her video message from the future. She turned to face her colleagues. They were

speechless, frightened, and confused. She touched her

forehead again and sighed. “Well, what can we do?”

she said out loud as she sat down heavily. “Earth is

  being invaded by humans.”
