They left the apartment hand in hand but only got so far as the sidewalk before someone attacked them from behind. The couple went flying forward as whatever had come up behind them had knocked them to the ground. Hannah skidded away from Cas cutting her hands and knees on cement as Cas went down to the ground avoiding injury by his suit and thick coat. He attempted to get up to go towards her.
“Hannah!” Cas yelled just as a trashcan lid hit him over the head from behind. The impact of the trashcan knocked him out cold sending him hard down to the cement despite Cas’s bulk he was no match for the surprise attacker, at least not in human form.
Hannah screamed and picked herself up quickly. She got into a fighting stance and looked into the shadows to try and depict the attacker.
“Who’s there?” she shouted into the mouth of the alleyway between her building and her neighbors where the attack had come from.
“Shouldn’t you be more surprised to see me?” a familiar voice asked coming out of the shadows.
Hanna gasped and dropped her stance in surprise at seeing Adam emerge from the mouth of the alley.
He gave her a deadly smirk.
“Thought you killed me didn’t you?” he sneered.
“But…but! You disappeared!” she exclaimed in shock.
“Dracula parlor trick. For the record, stakes don’t kill vampires. You have clearly been watching too many cheesy movies. ” Adam laughed manically as he looked over at Cas’s limp body.
“Poor little lost girl. Whatever shall she do?” Adam snarled advancing towards her. Panic sunk in to Hannah before she reminded herself that she need to fight back.
She cleared her throat and got into a predatory stance before readying herself for what Adam wanted to do. He smirked at her as they circled each other waiting for the other one to strike.
“If you want I could have you join my side.” Adam whispered watching her through slitted animal eyes.
“I could turn you into an animal and you would love it.” Adam added.
“Fat chance.” She said lowly before making the first move and punching him in the face. Adam didn’t even stumble, but instead pulled his own fist back and clocked her right in the eye. She was down in a second and he was on top of her snarling. She struggled beneath him, but his body weight pinned her down and she couldn’t escape from the vampire. This was the end she felt. Then, suddenly, he wasn’t on top of her anymore and instead a few feet away with a wolf on top of him.
Hannah scrambled to her feet and watched as the wolf growled at Adam and Adam snarled back. Then Adam backhanded the wolf off of him and the wolf went flying towards Hannah. Hannah moved quickly and went back towards Adam to attack him. He was already on his feet when Hannah reached him. She kicked him in the stomach and then brought his body down on her knee before trying to twist his neck to knock him out. Adam was too quick though and took her wrist and bit into it scrapping the bone with his teeth.
Hannah screamed and fell away from him onto the ground as blood poured from her arm and dripped onto the sidewalk. The wolf flew over Hannah and onto Adam making the two of them topple to the ground. The wolf tried to bite Adam, but again Adam was too quick and threw the wolf off.
Adam advanced towards Hannah the smell of blood luring him to her. She screamed and he got on top of her wanting to taste the delicious blood coming out of her wrist. That was the distraction the wolf needed to attack Adam from behind. The wolf bit into Adam’s neck making the vampire yell in agony as the wolf tore out his throat. Hannah screamed as the blood from the vampire’s neck poured all over her basking her in the red liquid of life.
Adam made one last move to attack, but it was a futile attempt because as the blood leaked from his neck he died seconds later from the werewolf bite. Once Adam was dead Cas transformed from his wolf body back to his human one. He bent down to help Hannah up and she looked up at him through her mask of blood.
“How’d you do that?” Hannah whispered still shocked from the attack.
“I never mentioned, I can transform whenever. But only as a measure of last resort.” Cas said taking her wrist to exam it.
“What the hell.” Hannah mumbled.
“I think you should be OK There might be some scaring though.” Cas said taking some of Adam’s shirt to make a bandage.
“Let’s go back inside and get cleaned up.” Cas said picking her up and carrying her back into the building.
“What about Adam?” Hannah asked still shaken.
“He is definitely dead.” Cas said shrugging and taking her back into the apartment.
Hannah stayed quiet as he got her keys out and they went back into the apartment.
She didn’t know what to say or how to act she thought she’d killed Adam the first time. Was he still alive?
“Why’d he come back?” she asked looking up at Cas.
“The only way to make sure a powerful vampire is dead is a werewolf bite. Some vampires can be killed by a stake or a detachment of their head, but others can only be killed by a werewolf bite.” Cas said matter of factually.
“Right.” She mumbled before stripping off her dress and walking to the bathroom in desperate need for a shower. Cas watched her go and then went over to the bed to watch TV while he waited for her to be done.
“That was crazy.” Hannah said once she’d gotten out of the shower.
Cas chuckled and turned away from the sports game he’d been watching. She got into bed beside him and called the Chinese restaurant to order some food as they watched. Once the food had arrived they ate in front of the TV and snuggled together.
“I guess you got your night-in after all.” Hannah said annoyed.
“As long as I’m with you I don’t care what we do.” He said kissing her on the lips.
She smiled at him and cuddled into his side. They continued watching TV glad they had found each other and finally found the love they had always wanted. Hannah felt complete snuggled into Cas’s side and she wouldn’t want it any other way. He was hers and she was his. She couldn’t thank her lucky stars enough for having him save her that night. She didn’t know where she’d be if he hadn’t come along and she didn’t want to think about that. She was just glad he was there and willing to be with her.
She loved him and eventually when the time was right she’d tell him. He had changed her in so many ways she could never thank him enough for it. But she was willing to try if it meant being with him for the rest of their lives.
She tucked into the Chinese food. Usually she would feel guilty about eating Chinese food due to all the calories, but Cas liked her just the way she was. She smiled at Cas and he smiled back. This man had changed her life in so many ways and she wanted to thank him for it as much as possible.
And she would, but that would be after the eating. ;-)
