If I let her have her way this lovemaking will be over in five minutes. I take control of the situation and gently haul her off me.
“We need to slow down, honey.”
She gives me one of her crafty smiles, like she knows she’s a sexy siren. “I like it fast,” she says, being saucy.
I roll her over so she’s on her belly and lean my weight on her. God, her skin feels like satin, so smooth and perfect.
“I love how you feel,” she says.
I move off her and give her bottom a hard smack which causes her to yelp. But my kisses on her heated cheek have her mewling with desire minutes later. I force her to widen her legs and then my face is all over her that swollen pussy of hers, and I’m lapping up the wonderful ambrosia of Alyssa. I plunge my tongue into her and feel her muscles clench around me.
“More,” she says.
“Like this?” I say, plunging two fingers inside of her. I don’t move them. I keep them still and enjoy the feel of her greedy muscles clamping around my digits. With my fingers in her I slide under so I can continue licking her pussy.
I pull them out slowly and move so my body is draped over hers again. I love how she moans when I do that.
“Stop torturing me,” she says.
“Tell me what you want,” I demand, needing her to say it.
“You. I want you.”
I plunge my fingers back inside and wait for her response. Again I don’t move them. “Is this what you want?”
She shakes her head and her hair swishes over her back. “No. I want your cock. Give me your fucking cock.”
Now this is the Alyssa I’ve fallen for. Demanding and sexy as hell.
I pull my fingers out and grab the condom in the bedside table. I’m sheathed within seconds and I love how the entire time she was panting with desire for me. I place my cock by the tip of her heat and she leans back, taking charge of her desire as she pulls me into her with her body and the hands now clamped around my thighs. I can’t help but groan as the feel of the tight heat fully engulfs me.
“This is what you wanted, right?”
“Blake, shut up and fuck me,” she says, and I can’t help but chuckle.
I lean down and nip her neck. “Honey, I’m not going to fuck you. I’m going to make love to you tonight until you’re so sore you won’t want to ever leave my bed again.”
“Promises…promises,” she says, and I’m loving the teasing tone in her voice.
I lean back until the tip of me is inside her and then I move, giving into the piston thrusts I’ve been craving. I don’t want this night to end so I slow down, savoring the feel of this sexy woman underneath me. I try hard to picture her with blonde hair and laugh.
“What’s so funny?” she asks.
“Nothing. Me just trying to picture your hair blonde.”
I withdrawal, letting her roll over so that we’re now cuddled side by side.
“I might let it go back to its natural color?” she says.
Leaning over I kiss her. “Honey whatever color you want, I’m find with it. I love you and that means if your hair was pink or blue I’d take you.”
We both laugh at my corny rhyme and just like that I know I’ve found the right woman for me. I slip back inside her heat and I love the rhythm we fall into naturally. Within minutes we both peak and for the first time in a long while both my mind and body feel content.
I pad to the bathroom and return with a washcloth. She opens her legs for me and I clean her up and nothing thrills me more. It’s such an intimate act, almost more so than what we just did, that I find myself grinning. I clean up and return to the bed, pulling her under the covers and then I tuck her tight against me.
“Why do you make me feel so damn good?” she says.
I kiss the top of her head. “I was thinking the same thing about you. Guess it’s how we fit together.”
She sighs and I hold her tighter. We’ve both had a night neither of us will forget, but this is also a new beginning for us. I feel her breathing even out and enjoy the heady feel of her falling asleep, safe in my arms.
When morning comes I awake to the feel of Alyssa’s mouth wrapped around my already hard cock. God, a man could get used to that.
I yank her up because I need to claim my morning kiss. “Nice way to wake up.”
“You do realize for the last hour that was poking in my side, right?”
I laugh. “Sorry, it’s got a mind of its own.”
“Oh, I wasn’t complaining. Makes me feel special first thing in the morning.”
I plant a kiss on those lips of hers and roll her on top of me. Her breasts are almost in my face so I maneuver her until they are and then I draw first one nipple into my mouth and repeat my actions with her other. A guy has to play fair and ignoring one breast is not something I’m willing to do.
She grabs hold of a condom and I let her go to work. Within seconds I’m wrapped up tight but then a minute later I am deep into her heat.
“Greedy much in the morning?” I tease, letting her ride me how she likes.
She flashes me one of those breathtaking smiles of hers and I feel my heart trip over itself. I would be one hell of a happy man if I woke up with her every morning. I grasp her hips and all talking and teasing evaporates as we pick up our rhythm and get into the feel of each other. I buck up off the bed wanting to be even deeper inside of her. She sets the pace with long up and down movements and I’m watching the show which is truly magnificent. Her head is laid back as passion takes over. My fingers claim her nipples and I’m tweaking them hard but she’s loving it. Finally she sets down and starts to grind hard on me and I move a hand between our slickened bodies and find that pebbled clit of hers. One touch is all it takes, and watching Alyssa’s orgasm take-over is blissful. She almost collapses on me so I haul her tight.
She knows I haven’t made it over the edge so she eases back up and then somehow takes hold of my sheathed cock in one hand and braces her other arm on the bed. She rips off the condom and the hot feel of her palm on my cock makes me dizzy. Within seconds I’m the one screaming out her name as she fists her hand tight around my erection. She lets me come all over those beautiful breasts which just makes me want to do it again.
She carefully removes herself from me. This time I’m the one watching her pad naked to the bathroom. I hear the water turn on and let her enjoy a leisurely hot shower alone for a change. When she comes back she’ll be ready for round two which I know will surprise her.
Two hours later we’re finally ready to leave the cabin. We’re both sporting love wounds we’re mighty proud of and I know I’ve got a permanent grin on, but I don’t freaking care.
She lets me take her hand which surprises me. As we make our way up to the main resort I can see Kat and Amy walking down the road. As usual Kat’s wearing a business suit, but the look of pure delight on her face transforms her from serious to joyful.
I let Alyssa slip out of my hold. I get that’s she’s nervous. We might be a couple, but it’s kind of new and there’s no need to flaunt it to everyone, even though that’s exactly what I want to do.
“Alyssa you won’t believe what happened!”
“What?” Alyssa asks, but she sounds more nervous than excited.
Amy holds up the local newspaper from Deerfield and states, “You made the news and you have clients.”
Alyssa groans. I grab the newspaper and quickly scan it for any unfavorable mention of her but all I read is a glowing account of her photos. “You will want to read this. It’s really good.”
My reinforcement makes her smile. “Really?”
“Oh yeah,” says Amy, adding. “Shannon’s phone hasn’t stopped ringing. She’s actually shocked and we’re all very excited.”
“Why is her phone ringing off the hook?” asks Alyssa, still not putting together the pieces, but I’m one step ahead of her.
I lean into her and smile. “I’d say clients are calling to book you.”
“Not
only clients but two galleries in Toronto want to showcase your work.”
With this news, Alyssa sags against me. “You are freaking kidding me.”
“And there’s more,” says Amy but she doesn’t look as happy with that announcement.
“What?” asks Alyssa.
“Your father wants to have breakfast with you.”
Alyssa grabs hold of my hand and this time I know it’s my strength keeping her upright.
“I’m not so sure about that,” she says.
“Well, he said he’d sit there all day until you joined him and I get the feeling he means it.”
“Can you give us a moment?” I ask Amy, needing to give Alyssa a much needed hug.
“Sure. You can keep the newspaper. When the McCaids saw that, they ordered a dozen more newspapers.” Amy laughs and walks away, smoothing down her slightly wind-blown hair as she makes her way to the resort shuttle to town.
I haul Alyssa in for a much needed hug and she sighs into the crook of my shoulder. “You don’t have to have breakfast with him.”
“I know. But I might as well get this over with.”
“I agree. Do you want me to come with you?”
She leans back and I give her nose a quick kiss. “No. I need to do this alone.”
I get that so we walk hand in hand to the restaurant. At the door, I haul her in for another long hug and then watch as Alyssa straightens her shoulders and with her head held up walks into the restaurant.
I wish I could stay but I’ve got my own confrontation to deal with. I spot Carol and my grandfather and saunter over toward them.
“Well, if it isn’t the traitorous snake himself,” says my grandfather, letting me know in no uncertain terms he’s done with me.
Months ago that would have hurt and angered me, but not anymore. Life isn’t all about the money and it took coming to Stone Cliff Resort, and me meeting Alyssa, to really figure out what was missing in my life.
The wind’s picked up and it’s going to be another dry, hot day. I notice for the first time my grandfather’s almost bald and he’s sporting a beer belly. He might be dressed to the nines in his tailored business suit, but underneath all that fabric he’s just an old man and someday he’ll be alone without any family if he keeps this up.
“Nice to see you too, Pops,” I say, to simply piss him off.
“Pops?” I expect him to yell at me, but he surprises me and laughs.
“That’s what I used to call my old man. Did you father tell you that?”
I shake my head. “Nope. We didn’t really talk about you or your father. Not that I wouldn’t have wanted to, but after all that happened between the two of you and now with me running your business deal , I’m thinking this is our goodbye.”
He says something I don’t catch to Carol and the next thing I know she’s in the car.
“Blake, you’ve got a good sense for business. You just let your heart get in the way. Take some time to grieve and get over your father’s death. Come back with me and we’ll get you sorted out.”
I chuckle. Yeah, my heart got in the way but I’ve learned a mighty lesson. “Is that seriously how you get through the day? Your son is dead. That’s got to mean something to you.” I stop and look at him, the blank look on his face. “Christ, it really doesn’t. I think it’s best if you get in that car and never come up here again. We’re over.”
He looks down at the ground. “Well, if you change your mind and grow tired of the dirt and gravel up here you know where to find me.”
“Yeah, I do. Don’t hold your breath, Pops.”
He doesn’t say anything else. I don’t bother waving as he gets in the car and then watch him drive out of my life. I thought I’d feel differently about him leaving, especially since the nice, fat pay cheque he gave me is now a thing of the past, but strangely, I don’t. If anything I feel relief. Today truly is a new day for me.
“How you doing?” asks Donald, the manager who oversees most things at the resort.
I turn around and smile. “Actually, I’m pretty good.”
He grins, which is not a usual occurrence for him. “Well, that’s good. Mr. McCaid would like to see you in his office.”
My gut twists but I’m not one to avoid a confrontation. I nod and head into the office.
“So, how did things go with your grandfather?” asks Mr. McCaid, after he tells Amy, at the front desk, to get me a coffee.
I slip into the worn wooden chair and notice all the photos on the wall. Funny how I didn’t see them before. He catches my eyes.
“They’re stages of the resort. From start to finish…except we’re not really finished.”
“They’re great,” I say, thanking Amy for the coffee.
“Yeah they are. Listen, Blake, I like you.”
“Thanks, but I’m not so sure I deserve it,” I say, taking a sip of the hot coffee.
“See and that’s why I like you. You could have kept up that lie but you came clean and to me that means a lot.”
“Like I said yesterday, I really like this place.”
“Yeah and that’s why I want you as a partner.”
I sputter on my drink. “You’re kidding, right?”
“Nope.”
I’m about to say something when in walks Mrs. McCaid. “Did you tell him?”
Mr. McCaid gets up from his chair and pulls Sandy, his wife, in for a hug. “Just getting to the good stuff.”
“So what do you think?” she asks.
I stand up because they’re both standing and I’m feeling restless. “I’m not sure what all this is about.”
“Well we’re getting old and I’ve been looking for someone to take over for a while and it turns out you’re the one.”
“What about Donald?” I ask, recalling how involved the manager is.
“Oh, Donald doesn’t want to be a partner. Trust me, we’ve talked to him. He’s all for you joining us. Said new blood was what we needed. So we’re thinking you can work off your partnership bill. And in four years you’ll be the sixty percent partner and we’ll keep our forty percent,” says Mr. McCaid with a smile on his face.
I’m stunned and speechless. “Really?”
“Oh yeah, we like your ideas and you see things we don’t see. That’s why new blood is essential. Plus I think Stone Cliff Resort has changed you.”
“You’re right on that score.”
“See, I told you,” says Mrs. McCaid. “When we first came here we felt the exact same thing. We didn’t come here thinking we’d create this resort but it was like the land talked to us and our heart got snagged along the way. We take great pride in our place and being able to hire so many locals and seasonal workers. All of that brings much needed cash to Deerfield.”
I got that instantly when I came here and I’d probably say that, but I’m blown away by their offer. “You sure about this?”
“Yes. We want you as a partner. We’ll move you into a better cabin and get you settled in as manager in training. So what’s it going to be?”
I look at them long and hard and smile so wide I know I probably look like a fool. “Hell yes. I love it here and I’m overwhelmed with your offer. But I’m not moving from my cabin.”
“Thought you might say that,” says Mr. McCaid, with a knowing twinkle in his eyes.
“I’ll give the lawyer a call and we’ll get the papers arranged and all I have to say now son, is welcome to Stone Cliff Resort.”
I get engulfed in two big bear hugs and I love it. A knock on the door has us separating and the next thing I know in walks Donald.
“So I take it you agreed?” he asks.
“You bet.”
Donald walks over and shakes my hand. “So glad you said yes. I’ve got some great ideas I’d like to talk with you about,” he says and just like that we’re all laughing because this is so far from what I expected I’m letting that happy feeling take hold.
I walk out of the office feeling almost light-headed. Alyssa’s wa
iting for me at the front counter. She’s got a smile on her face. I grab her hand and we shuffle quickly out the door.
“So how did things go with your father?”
“At first it was really weird and awkward. We both basically said nothing while we downed a cup of coffee, but then we gradually started to talk. God I can’t believe we talked. I don’t think we ever really talked before.”
“He’s missed you,” I say.
“I know that now and I sort of feel guilty.”
“You did what you thought was right,” I say, trying to reassure her.
“I think running away was easier than staying to try to deal with him, but Blake, he’s changed.”
“Alyssa, you made him change. He was probably worried sick about you and knew he was in the wrong.”
She gives a small laugh. “Oh, trust me he didn’t admit to being wrong. At first he politely told me I was a spoiled rich girl who should have called so he wouldn’t have worried.”
“And?” I say.
“And I told him that calling wasn’t an option because he’d have people take me back home which is what he tried to do last night. Well, after saying that, things changed. We talked about things back home and he told me he gets why I’m staying and he’s even offered to help me with my photography.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, but I told him no way. I need to do this all on my own. I think when I told him that he smiled for real.”
I haul Alyssa in for a hug. “This morning has turned out to be great for both of us. The McCaids want me to join them as a partner.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yup. We’ll work out all the details tomorrow, but I’m going to go for it.”
“Oh my god, Blake, that’s great.”
“Will you stay here?”
“You mean like after this summer’s over?”
I can’t resist her lips any longer so I lean in to claim them. Only after I’ve given her a thorough kiss do I answer her. “Stay. Work on your photography and we’ll take long winter hikes. I promise to make it worth your while.”
