“You’re playing with fire, Jada,” he whispered.

“I like fire, Brass. Why don’t you show me just how hot your fire can get?”

Brass had been rubbing his hands against her bare thigh, and at her words, he gripped the back of her knees, pulling her forward abruptly, lifting slightly, so she was in the perfect position to fuck her if they had both been naked. Jada cried out at the move, the feel of it exciting her. Brass used his chest and gently nudged her until she was leaning back on the washer. Seconds later, her shirt was gone, the cups of her bra pulled down, so her body was fully on display for him.

“Jesus, Jada, you’re so damn beautiful.” Brass’ gaze was fixated on her chest. The heat of his stare was like a physical caress, making Jada’s nipples painfully hard. She needed more of his touch. Jada was so wet and needy, she thought she was losing her mind. If he didn’t touch her soon, she was going to explode all on her own, just from the heat in his eyes.

The moment his hot lips touched her nipple, sucking hard, she felt his finger glide through her pussy. Goosebumps exploded over her body, and her back arched, lifting off of the washer, his duel assault causing an explosion of pleasure she couldn’t contain. Jada felt one of his thick fingers enter her, and with two more swipes of his thumb against her clit, she was cumming screaming his name. Still panting and coming down from the extreme high Brass had given her, it took a minute to hear what he was saying, realizing he was no longer that close to her. She also noticed he was still fully dressed, and although she could see the outline of his cock through his jeans, he wasn’t even panting like she was. The last sentence caught her attention.

“I always win, Jada, remember that; any game, I come out on top.”

She had just had the best orgasm of her life, and this bastard was trying to put her in her place. Sitting up, she righted her clothes, hopped down from the washer, and pushed him away.

“How about next time you touch me, asshole, it’s because you want to and not because of some point you’re trying to make.” Jada walked out of the laundry room with as much dignity as she could muster—with fucking wet panties, after screaming Brass’ name—going right to her room. She needed to be away from Brass and knew she would need to get out of his house. The sooner the better.

  Chapter Thirteen

Brass waited a few minutes, just standing in the laundry room. He couldn’t figure out why he had just done that shit today. The woman was fucking hot as hell. He could have spent the entire night between her legs, loving every fucking minute of it, but instead, he chose to take the coward’s way out and punish her for the feelings he had.

His cock was so damn hard, it ached and not in a good way. He knew he wouldn’t be getting relief any time soon. He could go to the Clubhouse and get one of the puppets to take care of him, but the thought only disgusted him. He didn’t want any woman’s touch unless it was Jada. Damn, Jada had responded to him like the fire they’d been talking about. Her response was what every man hoped for when he was with someone. She moaned, bucked, and gripped his hair like she just couldn’t get enough.

When she screamed out his name as she was cumming, he almost lost his load in his pants, something he hadn’t done since he was a fucking untried youth. Adjusting his dick in his pants, he walked out of the laundry room through the kitchen and into the family room where Jinx and Maddie were coloring at the coffee table. He didn’t bother with pleasantries or explanations. He told Jinx he was going out, not even looking at Maddie. If he had, he would have felt worse than he already did. He just needed some fucking space and time to think about all this shit.

It didn’t take him long to get outside and on his bike. He let the engine rev up and tore out of the driveway. He didn’t have a clue where he was going, he just needed the wind in his hair and the miles of pavement that awaited him.

He drove for a couple of hours until he found himself parked at the Clubhouse, and for the first time since he had joined the RBMC, he actually wondered if he wanted to go inside. The Club wasn’t the same without Tuck. Link was doing a good job keeping shit together, but it was only a patch job. Brass was also still pissed at the vote that had gone down the day after Jada and Maddie came to stay with him. He knew if it hadn’t been for Doc, Creed, and Jinx, they would have voted to separate Jada from Maddie, for the sake of the club. Jada could have tried to fight it, but when the RBMC made a decision, they stuck to it.

Link was a one-track-mind kind of guy. He protected what he deemed his. Tuck wouldn’t have been the same, he was protective to a point, but he was more of a big picture guy. He looked at all angles and tried to come up with the best solution for everyone involved. Crank was the closest to him, but his role in the Club was lessening by the day, he and Cathy wanting more time together and less time spent on Club business. It didn’t mean the man wasn’t active, he was, he just didn’t have the same conviction as before. Cathy was his priority, and Brass didn’t blame him.

If he had a woman in his life, he would feel the same way. Since Jada had been living in his house, he found it hard to leave every day to get done the shit he needed to get done, wanting to be the one who was watching over them. He resigned himself to tracking down the unknowns and running them off if he could, doing his part to make her and Maddie’s life a little safer.

But this playing house shit was getting harder. The incident in the laundry room proved his control was at it snapping point. He had wanted Jada from the start, but he couldn’t trust her, there will still some unanswered questions that needed to be filled in. She wasn’t like Suzie, she accepted him and his lifestyle. Or at least she acted like she did. It wasn’t like she had any choice in the matter, her life deepened on what he and his brothers were doing to keep her safe. He wondered if she was safe and had the ability to leave, would she still act the same way?

Deciding he needed a beer or something a little stronger, Brass got off his bike and went into the Clubhouse. The place was hopping like it did every Friday night. The music was blaring, the Puppets were doing their thing with the brothers. Normally, just walking into the room would have put a smile on his face. Not today. A few of the brothers called out, and he raised his hand, but his goal was the bar and he wasn’t going to stop and chat with any of them. Seeing Blade behind it, almost changed his mind. He didn’t mind the old-timer, but he liked to talk, offer advice, and was nosey. Brass wasn’t in the mood to talk, take advice, or have anyone up in his shit right now.

Deciding to hell with it, he went up to the bar, sat down, and knocked his knuckles against the surface. Blade noticed him and pulled a bottle off the wall, dropping a shot glass in front of him, and started to pour.

“Looks like you need a drink, son.” When he stopped pouring the amber liquor, Brass lifted his finger from his clenched hand on the bar, indicating Blade should fill up the glass more. Once he was satisfied he had enough in the glass, Brass chugged it back, loving the burn as the whiskey went down.

Deciding he couldn’t be a total dick and just leave with Blade standing there, looking at him he said, “How you been Santa?” The man looked just like the jolly fat man with the red suit and hat. Brass also knew he hated the women had started calling him Santa. He couldn’t go all mister nice guy now, could he? People would really start to wonder then.

“Doing better than you, by the looks of it.”

“Yeah, what makes you say that, old timer? Can’t a man just come in for a drink at his club without a reason?”

“Yeah, but you boys have been pretty scarce around here, lately. Heard you have a nice little piece hanging out at that house of yours no one knew you had.”

Brass had been expecting that jab for weeks now, he just hadn’t been expecting it from Blade. Jinx, Creed, hell, even Link, but not Blade. He respected the old man, but they weren’t exactly what Brass would call friendly. They had knocked heads over several things over the years—Blade thinking the club should take a more passive route, and Brass thinking they needed to go ball
s to the walls.

“Hey, a brother’s got to have some secrets, man.”

“Nah, that’s where you’re wrong, son, brothers should never keep secrets from each other. You're still young though, I think you’ll figure this shit out one day.”

Brass was about to say, fuck you, old man, when he heard some whoops and hollers coming from behind him. Turning he saw a kid he wasn’t familiar with and Misty. What the fuck was that about? Turning back to Blade he said,

“Wasn’t she banned?” Brass asked, turning back to Blade. “What the fuck is she doing here?”

“Well, son, the rules state if she comes in with a brother, she can stay.”

“I don’t see any brother by her side,” Brass said getting up from his stool.

  “New prospect Boone brought in.”

“Still, don’t see any brother, man. Prospects don’t get a fucking say in this club. What the fuck?”

Misty had been a problem since the beginning. She wanted to be an Old Lady and set her sights on all the Officers. It didn’t matter if they had an Old Lady already or not. The shit she pulled with Crank and Cathy was what got her banned in the first place. Brass was going to do something about it though, he didn’t like that Tuck’s rules weren’t being followed. Just as he was about to move away, Blade’s big hand came down on his forearm, stopping him.

“Boone okayed it, said it was fine, tied my hands.”

“Like fuck he tied your hands. Boone can’t overrule a ban for no one, only Link can do that shit.”

“Yeah, well, Link hasn’t been around a lot lately. Neither have the rest of your asses. Tal barely comes out of the backroom unless he has to take a piss or grab something to eat. Most nights, I just send someone in there with a sandwich for him. Crank’s only been coming in for Church. Link has been coming in the morning and leaves before fucking five like he’s some kind of banker. The rest of the boys are out looking for Tuck or on missions. That leaves me and Boone at the Clubhouse. Told you, boys, this shit was going to be bad, you didn’t want to listen.”

Fuck Brass didn’t want to listen, and he had heard Blade’s concerns about leaving the Clubhouse so open and unprotected, but shit, he thought Link had it covered. He, Creed, and Jinx had been gone for three months before coming back, and Brass hadn’t been to the Clubhouse for anything but Church since then. Taking his cell phone out of his pocket, Brass dialed Link. It took a couple of rings before the man answered, and when he did, he sounded out of breath.

“You need to come down to the Clubhouse. Now,” Brass started right in.

  “What the fuck, Brass?”

“What the fuck is Boone gave Misty a free pass. She’s been coming in, hanging out with a new prospect Boone approved. I don’t remember the ban being lifted, and I sure don’t remember voting to make some douche a prospect of this club. But I’m looking at him right now, and he’s wearing our name.”

“Give me five. Stand down till I get there and figure this shit out.”

Yeah, that wasn’t going to work for him. Brass left the bar, pushing his way through the mob of people in the room. He was starting to notice other things now too. A couple of his brothers from downstate were standing near a corner, snorting what looked like coke. The room was also filled with hang arounds and the Puppets who were usually reserved for Club members were servicing them. It was a fucking free for all.

Brass noticed Boone standing by the “new” prospect and Misty. That was his target. Boone was shady, always had been, but he had his uses on missions. It was the only reason Brass hadn’t voted against him getting his patch. If they were still in the service, Boone would have been the guy who kissed the higher ups ass to get the next promotion, medal, or ribbon. The man craved power. From the looks of it, with the rest of them M.I.A, he had found himself some. Boone looked like the king of the world right now, lapping up the attention Misty and the other woman were paying him. He even had his own little group of minions gathered around, just waiting for the next words to come out of his mouth.

Brass smiled. If he couldn’t fuck tonight, he could do the next best thing—fight. Brass knew Boone hadn’t seen him; if he had, he would have been right up his ass, trying to cover his shit. Brass watched as he got closer, and when Boone finally saw him, his eyes widened and the color flushed right out of his face. Yeah, got you, mother fucker! Brass stopped two feet in front of the man.

“You got two choices.” Boone started to say what Brass assumed was his name but stopped when Brass took another step closer to him. “Number one, get the bitch out of here and all the other unwanted,” Brass cocked his head toward the “new” prospect, “or meet me out in the yard.”

Boone looked around at his group, and Brass could see the man growing some balls.

  “The rules say…”

“I know what the rules say, Boone, and I just offered up a challenge. Do you remember the rules about that?” The fucker paled even further. Someone had cut off the music, and Brass heard the door bang open, but he didn’t take his eyes away from Boone. He already knew who it was by Misty’s gasp. Apparently, Link had called in some reinforcements.

Crank bellowed “Everyone, get the FUCK out!” confirmed it. Brass was still, his gaze still intent on Boone. The man tried to walk, but Brass just blocked his way. He felt the clap of a hand on his shoulder, but he held his ground.

  “Stand down,” Link barked.

“I’m not doing anything but standing here waiting for an answer, Link. Don’t know what I need to stand down for,” Brass said, watching Boone.

“An answer to what?” Link questioned.

“I issued our brother here a challenge, and I’m waiting to see if he accepts,” Brass said calmly.

  “Challenge Voided! Church in ten.”

Son of a bitch, that was bullshit! Challenges could only be voided by the President of the Club, but it hardly ever happened. Tuck wanted the guys to work out their shit between themselves before he had to be a fucking babysitter to a bunch of grown men. This was just wrong, but Brass did as he was told and stood down but not before giving Boone a look that promised pain in the very near future.

Church was a joke. Link chastised Boone for his actions and demoted him. They made up some schedules to keep things at the Clubhouse under control, but it was just a band-aid that wouldn’t fix anything. When it was all done, Brass just wanted to get the fuck out of there. But apparently, his shit luck for the day was staying with him because Whisk stopped him.

“What are you doing here? All the Old Ladies and Suz headed out to your place an hour ago.”

  Chapter Fourteen

Jada stayed in her room until she calmed down. She changed her clothes, putting on a pair of leggings and a t-shirt. What she really wanted was a shower, so she could remove the smell and Brass’ touch, but she didn’t want to explain to Jinx and Maddie why she was showering at seven o’clock at night. Damn, she was being unreasonable. She doubted either of them would even ask, well, Maddie might but what was the big deal?

Looking down, she grabbed the flannel shirt she had pilfered from Brass and put it over the t-shirt, not wanting him to tell her again she was trying to get anyone’s attention, especially not his. It made her mad just putting on the garment. But right now, she needed to feel comfortable, and the damn shirt helped.

She decided she needed to come up with a plan, hell, she was constantly trying to come up with plans it seemed. Her entire life existed of going from one plan to another. The last three months were the only time she hadn’t even considered making one. Staying here with Brass, she had gotten a little too comfortable. It had been easy to let him worry about what was going to happen next and take charge of every aspect of her and Maddie’s lives. Shoot, on a daily basis, she only had to figure out what they were going to do for entertainment and what to fix for dinner. Even that was dictated by the man who went to the grocery store.

If she mentioned wanting something like mushrooms and he didn’t like them, Brass just wouldn
’t bring them home. Problem solved. She didn’t say anything because it was his house, and she was just happy to be there and safe. But this mood to make plans had nothing to do with mushrooms and everything to do with the way Brass had humiliated her in the laundry room.

She wasn’t going to deny she had wanted it to happen, hell, she would have gone further if the opportunity had risen. There was a combustible attraction between the two of them that couldn’t be denied. She just wished, for once in her life, she could meet someone who truly wanted her for her. Not to teach her something, use her, or out of convenience.

She had been watching the RBMC members and their Old Ladies and it had given her hope that love like that existed. Tessa and Creed couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Link and Carri always found themselves off in some corner, just enjoying spending time alone together, talking, and Cathy and Crank, theirs was a love that shined like a beacon in the night. There was no denying the love they felt was deep, strong, and lifelong.

Jada hadn’t met Tank yet, but she had met Reagan, and she bet they would be the same way. Whisk and Addy were so cute together, he was always following her around, making sure she was comfortable, rubbing her back or stomach. Maybe that was the problem, hope. She didn’t have a relationship with Brass and shouldn’t be placing hopes and dreams on the man.

“Yeah?” Jada said when she heard a tap at her door.

Jinx popped his head in and said, “Hey, I wanted to give you a heads up, you're about to be invaded. The Old Ladies are coming by for a surprise to your baby shower.”

  “Umm, Jinx, I’m not pregnant.”
