Finally, he pulled away from her mouth and trailed kisses down her body. When he got to her jeans, he undid them and slid them down her legs. Then he stared at her lacy boy shorts. “I really like these,” he said and trailed a finger along her clit. “Especially when they’re wet with your desire for me.” He shocked her when he brought his face down to her panties and inhaled. His body shuddered. “You smell incredible. I can’t wait to taste you.” She was glad she’d decided to stop at the salon on their shopping day to get a wax. Roman’s gaze heated when he stripped off her panties.

“Dear God, this is so damn sexy,” he murmured and ran his hand across her hairless skin. “That salon trip was a good idea.” Leaning down, Roman slid his tongue inside of her. It was a shock and she gasped and clutched at his hair. She collapsed back onto the pillows and closed her eyes. Roman’s own groan of desire made her even hotter.

Roman removed his tongue and she whimpered a complaint. “Watch me,” he ordered. “I want you completely here with me.”

Lydia met his hungry gaze. “I’ll try, but I usually close my eyes.”

“Not with me, you won’t. If you close your eyes, I’ll stop,” he warned and began to drive her to the brink of insanity with his talented tongue. Alternating between expertly probing her and laving her clit, Roman brought her to the edge and then back down again, Lydia tried to arch her hips off of the bed to move against his mouth, but Roman held her in place, fully controlling her pleasure. Every time she was about to climax he changed tactics.

“Are you trying to torture me?” she panted out.

He lifted his head and smiled. “Yes,” he said. “Is it working?”

“Yes, but if I don’t get to my O soon, I might lose it.”

“I want to be buried deep inside of you when you climax for our first time together,” he said as he stood up and slipped out of his dress pants and boxers.

Completely naked he settled himself between her legs and then he leaned down to kiss her. When he pulled back he asked, “Do you taste yourself on my tongue?”

  She nodded.

“You taste so good,” he murmured against her ear, sending a shiver through her body. “You are so sexy and wild. I need to be in you. Put me inside of you,” he ordered.

  “Wait!” she said.

  Roman looked confused and frustrated.

  “You need a condom.”

“You can’t get pregnant and my kind doesn’t get sexually transmitted diseases. Actually, we don’t get any viral, bacterial, or parasitic infections.”

“Well, that makes things easier.” Lydia reached down and gripped his cock. It was hard and huge. Part of her wanted to slide down and return the favor by taking him into her mouth, but she was out of patience. After one last squeeze which made him groan, she guided the tip to her entrance. When he was in position, he pushed forward. “Oh,” she gasped feeling deliciously stretched, almost to the point of pain.

  “Are you okay?” he asked.

Lydia nodded and wiggled her hips. “You’re big. Okay, that sounded lame.”

He chuckled. “A man never minds hearing those words. You’re so tight around me that I’m ready to explode.” Roman started to move in slow sure strokes. His pelvis rubbed against her sensitive clit with every thrust. It wasn’t long before her panting and moaning turned to screams. Funny, she wasn’t a screamer. Then she had the strangest sensation, like a part of Roman was transferring to her. The strange rush of energy was a little frightening.

  “What’s happening?” she asked.

“I’m sharing my life force with you,” he explained. His icy blue eyes swirled like an arctic storm. “That’s how we saved you and how you’ll stay alive for centuries. Now, it’s so you’ll feel both of our arousals. You’ll also experience both climaxes.”

“Oh God!” Lydia screamed as he thrust harder and faster. He was right; his arousal combined with hers. It was the most intense thing she’d ever experienced. Her fingernails clawed at his back and her hips thrust up to meet his. Her muscles tightened and tightened until she came so hard that the contractions rocked her entire body and she screamed out Roman’s name. Roman waited until the pulsing waves of her orgasm slowed some before he started to move again. He pounded into her body hard and fast. When his release came, she felt it so intensely that she had another mind blowing orgasm of her own.

In the aftermath, they both laid on their backs, too exhausted to move.

“I should get something to clean you up,” Roman said sleepily.

“Fuck it,” Lydia said, “we can clean up later. Besides, you’ll just get me dirty again anyway.”

Roman chuckled. “I’m already getting hard again, but I definitely need a nap.”

Lydia curled into his side and drifted off to sleep, more sated than she’d been in her entire life.

  Chapter Thirteen

After three weeks in Roman’s home, Lydia had a routine of sorts. Every morning she woke up in Roman’s bed. That man always woke up first and managed to have breakfast cooking when she woke up. Well, maybe the smell of breakfast cooking woke her. After that they both headed to the gym for a very sexually charged work out.

Showering together took care of the sexual tension caused by the workout. Lydia had never enjoyed her showers quite that much before. The rest of the morning was usually spent working in the garden. Roman joined her with a stack of papers and his phone. Actually, she wasn’t sure what use the phone was to him. He didn’t have any idea how to use it. The poor man hadn’t adapted to smart phones. Most of the time, he used a landline. Not a cordless one either, one attached to the wall. For fun, she liked to change the ring tone on his smart phone.

The problem with her days was that she didn’t have much to do after her gardening. Roman had work to do in the afternoon. Mostly he followed up on his family which exhausted him some days. Ivy came to visit her every couple of days and she enjoyed her time with Ivy. No one mentioned contacting her friends, but Lydia knew she needed to soon.

Well, at least she had plenty of time to read and avoid calling her friends. Lydia was happily reading in the family room when the doorbell rang. Roman was upstairs arguing with someone on the phone so she figured it would be okay for her to answer the door. She looked around for the bookmark which had been there just a minute ago, but it had disappeared. Every bookmark she owned was enchanted. There was no other explanation for the way they seemed to walk away when she wasn’t looking. Finally, she snatched a facial tissue and shoved it in the book.

The doorbell rang again which annoyed her. “I’m coming!” she shouted even though it was unlikely anyone at the door would hear her.

When she opened the door she found a determined looking blonde with a slightly round belly and a Draksel family member. The guy looked vaguely familiar but they all did. Lydia was sure she would have remembered seeing one that looked like a biker. Seriously, there he stood in worn jeans and a leather jacket. His hair was tied back and he had a goatee.

“Holy fuck!” he said with a thick Irish brogue.

That’s when she remembered him. She crossed her arms in front of her chest. “Aiden,” she said in a cool voice. “I never got a chance to ask what you did to upset my cousin.”

The blonde ignored her anger and reached out a hand. “You must be my grandfather’s mystery guest. I’m Tempest.”

So this was Ivy’s sister. Lydia shook her hand but continued to glare at Aiden. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ve already met your sister and she says we’ll get along great. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to let him in the house.”

“Lydia,” Roman said from behind her. “Perhaps you should let Aiden and Tempest in. Aiden is very sorry about the incident with Hannah. He was not himself at the time.”

Tempest put a hand over her mouth. Tears were starting to form at the corners of her eyes. “Nathaniel’s Hannah?”

Aiden nodded and gave Lydia a sympathetic look. Lydia felt the tightness building in her chest. She knew that lo
ok. People looked at you that way when someone important to you died. Hannah must have lost her baby. Lydia couldn’t believe she’d been avoiding her cousin. She was acting like a selfish bitch when Hannah needed her.

“I’m very sorry about what happened to your cousin,” Tempest said softly. “I mean about the accident.”

God, no! This couldn’t be happening. “What accident?” Lydia asked. Roman put a hand on her shoulder but she shrugged it off.

Aiden looked away and Tempest looked past Lydia toward Roman.

“Let’s sit down and we can talk about this,” Roman said as he placed a hand on her arm.

Lydia spun around and glared at him. “Don’t touch me! You’ve been lying to me. I asked you about her and not once did you mention an accident.” She was fighting back tears. “I know condolences. My cousin is dead and you’ve been here playing house with me. You are no better than Dominic. Every last one of you is toxic. Fuck you!” With that she slapped him. A deafening silence followed the sound of her hand making contact with Roman’s cheek. With her new strength she was able to make his head snap back and she saw the angry red mark on his cheek. She was so pissed that it actually made her feel good to hurt him.

“Lydia, please sit down so I can explain,” he said calmly.

Roman reached out to her, but she jerked back. Without waiting for an explanation, she took off running into the front yard and headed around the side of the house to her gardens. No, they weren’t her gardens. None of this was hers.

  Chapter Fourteen

“How could you fail to mention her cousin’s death?” Tempest demanded.

“Because Lydia’s cousin is not dead,” he said through his teeth. Tempest wasn’t the person Roman was angry with. This was his fault. Lydia should have been told about Hannah earlier. In his defense, Lydia refused to even talk about her cousin. How was he to know that someone would come by and tell her?

“Hannah survived the accident?” Aiden asked.

“There was no accident,” Roman said in a frustrated voice. “I’ll explain everything after I find Lydia.”

Roman raced out across the yard without waiting for a reply. When he found Lydia weeping, it nearly broke his heart. With her arms wrapped around her knees, she looked fragile. He approached tentatively, afraid she’d bolt again. “Hannah isn’t dead,” he said, hoping that would be enough to keep her from running again.

Lydia wiped her eyes with the back of her hand and looked up with something that was not quite hope in her eyes. “Please, just tell me the truth, Roman. If she’s not dead, why are Aiden and Tempest acting like something horrible happened?”

“It’s complicated,” he said and squatted beside her. “Hannah is alive and in perfect health. This really is a very long story and Tempest is going to insist on hearing it too. Can I explain everything inside?”

Lydia nodded and stood. Roman stood too and scooped her up. He cradled her against his chest. Her hair was full of mud and grass because she’d been sitting on it.

“I can walk,” she said and sniffled.

“Yes,” he said with a smile, “I’m aware of that fact, but I’d prefer to carry you.”

“You’re much too bossy,” she grumbled.

“Most people don’t say that to my face. Well, my granddaughters do. I really think you’re going to like Tempest,” he mused. “She’s good friends with your friend Caitlin.”

“I miss my friends,” Lydia said.

“Then make plans to see them,” he said. “It’s time to stop hiding in my home. As much as I love having you all to myself, you need to get back some of your old life.”

“To say I was awful to everyone would be an understatement,” Lydia admitted with another pitiful sniffle.

“What happened wasn’t your fault,” he assured her. “Your friends will forgive you and understand.”

She snorted. “Sure, they’ll understand that I was controlled by a vampire. I mean, this kind of stuff happens all the time.”

He grinned at her sarcasm. It was nice to hear her spunk returning. “Over the last few months your friends have learned quite a bit about my family. I don’t think they’ll have any trouble believing your story.”

Tempest and Aiden were standing in the doorway watching them approach. Aiden looked down right amused. Tempest looked worried. When he got close enough, Tempest started speaking. “I’m sorry for opening my big mouth and upsetting you. I am seriously going to kill my sister. Ivy probably already knew about your cousin being alive.”

“Ivy doesn’t tell you this stuff because she feels like telling would be invading people’s privacy even more than she already does,” Aiden said as he absently rubbed Tempest’s swollen belly. Then to Lydia he explained. “Her sister, Ivy, can sort of read minds.”

  “Yeah, I know,” Lydia said.

Roman carried Lydia into the family room and settled her onto his lap. “Do you want me to get you anything to eat or drink?”

“Just tell me about my cousin,” Lydia insisted.

With a nod, he began to explain the convoluted mess. “Well, I should begin with my reaction to Hannah’s pregnancy. When Nathaniel told me that he’d found the woman he wanted to marry, I was happy for him. That is until I met her. The first time I met Hannah I was dealing with the aftermath of Dominic’s stupidity. Needless to say, it was not a good time. She walked in on the conversation and found out that Dominic had nearly killed you.”

Lydia’s body tensed in his arms. “That must have been horrible for her,” she said.

“Yes,” Roman said with a nod. “That wasn’t the worst of it. Here I was figuring that Nathaniel would calm her down. After all, if my son was talking about marriage, surely he’d told her what we were.”

“She didn’t know,” Lydia said angrily.

“That was obvious. Aside from failing to disclose that fact, it appears that my son also got her pregnant on purpose.”

  “Fucking bastard!” Lydia spat out.

“Yes, but he learned that from me,” Roman admitted. “As you already know I wasn’t a very good husband to Nathaniel’s mother. I figured that if I scared Hannah and made her miserable Nathaniel would see what a mistake everything was. The plan was to remind him of how his mother had suffered so he’d let Hannah go. Obviously, Hannah would still need help, but marriage between them would have been a huge mistake. Then I saw Hannah with Noah and realized that things were more complicated than I’d originally guessed.”

“Those two were totally hot for each other,” Lydia said.

“I noticed that too,” Roman said with a smile. “Well, I’ve always been fond of Noah, and I was beginning to like Hannah. The girl has a lot of spirit at times. Nothing like you,” he said and gave Lydia an affectionate smile. “After seeing her with Noah, I spoke to Ursula and we decided it would be best to help facilitate a plan for them to run off together. I figured Nathaniel would get over Hannah quickly enough and forgive his brother. Needless to say, things didn’t end up working out like I’d expected. Hannah and Nathaniel faked their deaths and they’re now hiding in some small town. My second wife is living there as well.”

  “Lenore is alive?” Aiden asked.

“I’d never really considered how your second wife being alive affects our marriage,” Lydia mused. “That probably makes it even less legal.”

“You married Lydia?” Tempest asked. “When did that happen?”

Roman let out a sigh. “Yes, Lenore is still alive, but that information does not leave this room. As for our marriage, Lenore has been legally dead for more than a century. Besides I never obtained a marriage license for that marriage. I didn’t live within the confines of society at that time so a marriage license was unnecessary.”

That was a lot to process for one afternoon, but Lydia couldn’t hide her relief. Hannah was alive.

“The men in this family really suck at dating,” Tempest muttered.

Aiden shrugged. “Works well for us.”

  “You tried to
kidnap Hannah and you did kidnap me,” she said.

“Need I remind you that you kidnapped me first? Either way, it worked out,” Aiden said with a satisfied grin. The way Aiden was constantly finding an excuse to touch Tempest was cute.

Roman obviously didn’t agree that it was cute and looked like he wanted to kill Aiden. “That reminds me, when will you be marrying my granddaughter? You have yet to answer that question.”

“We’ve decided to wait,” Tempest said with a sweet smile. “Maybe after Justin and Caitlin get married. It’s nice that they’re finally moving forward with their relationship after three years of stalking.”

“Yeah, that might have been overkill. Justin should’ve just tossed Caitlin over his shoulder caveman style years ago. She seems to go for that sort of thing,” Aiden said with a thoughtful look.

Tempest smacked him on the chest.

“Wait, are you talking about my Caitlin?” Lydia gasped. “Justin is tossing my Caitlin over his shoulder?”

“No,” Justin said from the doorway to the family room, “she’s my Caitlin.”

“Do you always have to act like a prick?” Caitlin asked from behind him.

Lydia scrambled out of Roman’s lap and threw her arms around Caitlin. “I’ve missed you.”

Caitlin had a good four inches on Lydia without shoes. While many tall women wore flats, Caitlin rarely went out with anything lower than a two inch heel. Today was no exception. Caitlin rolled her catlike amber eyes, flipped her long black hair, and put one hand on her hip. “Honestly, Lyd, do you always have to make an emotional scene?” Then her face softened and she hugged Lydia back. “I would have come to visit earlier, but nobody bothered to tell me you were here. Someone led me to believe that you were in an assisted living facility close to your mom.” Justin didn’t even flinch under Caitlin’s glare.
