Determining who really wrote and drew all the older Batman stories is not always possible, as Will Brooker has noted at length in Batman Unmasked: Analyzing a Cultural Icon (2001), because the published works originally credited Bob Kane without identifying his ghost writers and artists until well into the 1960s. Tracking those names down is difficult, sometimes impossible. While wikis are tricky, they’re still valuable sources for helping find back issues and a great starting point for discovering additional resources, so we must thank the many volunteers who, often anonymously, edit sites like the Grand Comics Database (comics.org), DC Comics Database (dc.wikia.com), and Batman Wiki (batman.wikia.com). Wikipedia’s WikiProject Comics helped the hunt in ways they may never know. Comic Book Resources (comicbookresources.com), Comic Vine (comicvine.com), Mike’s Amazing World of DC Comics (dcindexes.com), and many others aided in the quest to credit the correct creators.
