“That’s Harper,” Tracker said with a chuckle.

“Harper? That handsome... eating breakfast with your mother? He looked like a nerd in high school.”

She turned around and looked at the Alpha, “I’ve never seen you before,” Rebecca said fiddling with a bottle of orange juice.

“I’ve been away... at school,” the Alpha said.

“He’s a Samsa alright,” Tracker said with a sly grin.

“Oh,” Rebecca said never taking her eyes off of the Alpha. And with shaky hands she poured the orange juice in a glass. Her lips quivered when she passed the Alpha and stopped in front of him. “It’s nice meeting you.” She didn’t say anything to Tracker. He just stared at the Alpha and Rebecca.

When she walked out after the Alpha held the door for her, Tracker said, “Well I guess you’ve found your mate for the full moon.”

“I can’t expect her to be with me just like that. She’s a human.”

“She’s a female, and I could tell by the look on her face and the dilation of her pupils that she would fuck you in a minute. Have you ever had sex before?” A long silence hung in the room. Until the door swung open and in walked Wilder and Lycell. They stopped in their tracks.

“You’re no longer an Alpha in this family. You’re the offspring and therefore you are a beta,” Tracker whispered to the Alpha where only he could hear.

Gesturing to Wilder and Lycell, “There are three Alphas and here are two of them. One is my father and one is Hunter’s father.

“Who the fuck have you brought here this morning, Tracker?” Lycell said. Wilder stood back and took a good look at the young werewolf sitting in his kitchen and eating his food.

“Well father good to see you too. And it’s good to see you’re well and your old self.”

“Who is this, Tracker,” Wilder’s voice firm but with a soft easy tone.

“Don’t tell me you don’t recognize an off spring of yours?” Lycell looked to Wilder and began laughing. His laughter got louder and louder until they heard the horses stomping and the dogs barking.

“Just wait until I tell your mother that Wilder has a son he never told her about.”

“I have only two sons, Lycell. Hunter and Devin. He’s too young to be a son of mine which he isn’t.”

“He’s Hunter’s son,” Tracker said. “Look closely behind that long hair and beard.”

“But. He.” Wilder’s mouth opened and then closed quickly.

“Yes,” Tracker said. Wilder’s eyes closed and opened. He let out a loud breath.

“What are you going to do about him? If he isn’t Hunter’s son, then someone may have planted him here to spy on us,” Lycell said.

“I’m not here to spy on anyone. I just want to be with my family. My pack,” the Alpha said not giving respect to Lycell. He had forgotten what Tracker had warned him about. He had to give respect to the three Samsa Alphas or he could risk being sent away or worse.

Wilder watching at Lycell said, “I’m not going to do anything until Robert tests his DNA.”

“I brought two young werewolves with me,” the Alpha said.

“They’re in the kennel,” Tracker said. “I saw them take off to be with the dogs. They feel more comfortable there. Maybe they’re afraid. I know I would be.” Tracker said and he shot a glance at Lycell. Tracker put the carafe of orange juice to his mouth and drank the entire contents. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. “Besides our dogs have better accommodations than most animals. And are treated better than me.”

“The dogs have better manners,” Lycell said raising his right eyebrow.

Wilder glanced at Tracker and said, “See that they have something to eat and get them out of there. Take them into town and give them an apartment, and a job.” Turning to the young Alpha he said, “What’s your name and are they loyal to you?”

“I don’t have a name. And yes they are loyal.”

“If you’re tired you can take your father’s room on the second floor. I have to tell Adrienne and call Hunter. Your father and mother will give you a name. For now you are a Samsa. This will probably be a shock to your mother and father, but I’m sure they will get over it. There is no use you living with them because you are young, but far more matured than his pups. You will stay with us.”

“I’d like that,” the Alpha said to Wilder.

“He likes the young girl you have working here,” Tracker said smiling. The Alpha’s face heated and he lowered his head, and all took notice. They had all been on the hunt when they were pups and yearlings and they understood that the moon would control them and even now as Lycell plots to have Adrienne to himself and away from Wilder.

“Oh, Tracker. I forgot to tell you, Harper is home,” Lycell said with a mischievous grin. With Harper and Tracker there was a competition for girls. Tracker got the ones Harper had his eye on. Their mother’s love another rivalry, and sports and academics, because they were as different as the sun and moon. With Tracker being as explosive as the sun and Harper as systematic as the moon.

“Thanks, father. I forgot to tell you Damon lost an eye,” Tracker said. Lycell glanced at Tracker and his mouth opened ready to respond when a loud roar rushed through the forest echoing from the mountains and resting in the valley where the Samsa ranch lay.

All heard the blood curdling sound of the lion shifter. Their hair rose on their backs because they knew that sound.

“Father,” the Alpha said and jumped to his feet. “He’s coming for me.” His voice a whisper. Panic rolled through the Alpha’s eyes.

Tracker touched the Alpha’s shoulder, “Not today,” Tracker said looking to Lycell for reassurance.

He found encouragement in Lycell’s eyes. “Even the Lion shifter knows there are too many Samsas he would have to fight,” Lycell said.

It was this time Wilder had feared. A time when they faced foes from men and shifters, and that’s why he prepared his pack for the inevitable. But he thought the first threat would come from the humans or the Alaskan pack. Not the dangerous and cunning Lion shifter.
