“Let me see?” Christine said holding out her hands. She read the inscription and looked at Laura with such love in her eyes. “I love you.”
Laura leaned toward her and kissed her mouth. “I love you too.”
“Haven’t you two cooled off yet?”
“Never,” They both said in unison.

Laura’s cellphone rang two weeks after her book’s release. “Hey, Molly. How’s it going?”
“Hi Laura. I’m good and I’m looking at your cookbook as we speak. I showed the producers of my show the book and they want you to come on for an episode with me. You know that crab soup you made for the first party, I want you to come on and demonstrate how it’s made. There’s no money involved, but the promotion of your book should make it worthwhile. What do you say?”
“Molly are you kidding me?”
“No, Laura. We’d love to have you.”
“Tell me when and where and I’ll be there.”
“Let your agent know you’re doing the show, so there isn’t a problem and I’ll send you an email with the information.”
“Thank you, Molly.”
“Thank you too, Laura. I can’t wait to do the show with you.”
Christine came in the door and saw Laura standing in the kitchen. “Hey, honey.”
Laura didn’t move.
She walked up to Laura and rested her hands on her shoulder. “Earth to Laura,”
Laura turned and smiled. “I just got off the phone with Molly.”
“Oh yeah, how is she?”
“She wants me to be on her show and demonstrate one of my recipes. They will also publicize my book on the show too.”
“Laura, that’s wonderful. When is this going to happen?”
“She’s going to email me the information.”
Christine laid her head against Laura’s shoulder. “I’m so proud of what you have accomplished.” She squeezed Laura’s arm. “You are going to be so successful. You probably will be traveling around the country promoting your book.”
“My agent has made mention of that, but she hasn’t pushed. I don’t want to be away from you Chris. I want to sleep in our bed with you next to me.”
“I want that too, Laura, but you have to do what need to do if you want your cookbook to be a success.”
“I know. I’m sorry for being such a baby.”
Christine squeezed her arm again. “We will work it out whatever it is.”
“How did I get so lucky to find you?”
“We’re both lucky, honey.”

Christine and Laura were sitting in the great room watching the episode of Molly’s show that Laura had appeared on.
“You look very comfortable in front of the camera, Laura.” Christine leaned into Laura and threaded her fingers through her hand. “I can see you doing this for a living one day.”
“I was waiting until the episode aired to let you know, they’ve offered me a show. It’s only six episodes, but if the ratings are good, then they will review the contract.”
“Are you kidding me? Laura, that’s wonderful.”
“It’s scary and exciting, but I figured if it doesn’t work out,” Laura shrugged. “I’ll do something else.”
“I love you, Laura Lerner.” Christine whispered in her ear.
“I love you too, Christine Harper. “Thank you for never giving up on me, Laura.” Her fingers cupped Laura’s face. “I can’t imagine my life without you in it.”
“I never knew love until I met you, Chris. Thank you for allowing me to love you. I will always be here for you as long as you want me to.”
The two women kissed as they entered a new adventure in their lives.
